  1. Anyone know of any OUTDOOR special classifier matches this winter in Oklahoma or Texas? Or in the Midwest perhaps?
  2. I would think this is a major ingredient of being “paper”.
  3. Sounds like a plan, Tim. Wish ya hadn’t moved.
  4. Ah. I understand now. I thought you meant across the board.
  5. Im new to this whole thing so just so I understand....if you go to nationals with a U. You will go home with a U? Correct?
  6. So now I’m comfused. What do you mean it could be good for a match bump but not as a classifier?
  7. A nationals match that doesn’t qualify as a classifier. Interesting.
  8. I’ll gladly admit I’m unclassified. I just started this thread to learn something.
  9. Wow. When I started this thread I didn’t expect it to go down this road. I just wondered how many GMs got to that point by match performance. So I’l Ask this...is someone a “paper GM” if they got there by classifiers they happen to run into during the course of competition but have never shot 95% in a major? Or is it someone who who got their by reshooting classifiers for money, trained specific classifiers they knew they would see, etc? Because if it’s the former than damn near every GM in existence is a paper GM, correct?
  10. I’m not disparaging the classifier system. Or anything else for that matter. But if they did away with it and combine that with the fact that it is virtually impossible to get a match bump to GM with the current requisites, how many new GMs would there be in a given year? 3 or 4? Which is fine I guess. GM is supposed to be elite.
  11. Yeah when I saw the 5% above thing it seemed to me you would basically have to win a MAJOR major. And this is all theoretical for me. I’m currently unclassified. Lol I was basically mulling over the whole paper vs comp GM debate in my head. Thanks guys.
  12. Wow. Thanks Malo. I was expecting that even though I asked for hard data I was going to have to suffer through a bunch of posts about people’s various speculations. This is good stuff.
  13. Does anyone have any hard data on how many GMs got there by shooting classifiers and how many got there by performance in competition?
  14. Before this thread devolves into something else, I want to take a moment to thank those who have made offers to help me out with the logistics, both publicly and via PM. It is greatly appreciated. And when the match gets closer I might collect on those offers to help. Again, thank you very much guys.
  15. You’re right, it’s an incredible offer. And I’m grateful. With regards to the hurdles. If the gun is gone in 5 days, there are no hurdles.
  16. When the date gets closer I might contact you about shipping some ammo to you. I greatly appreciate the offer, but I think I’ll will bring my own shadow. Just something about shooting someone else’s gun.....you know. ?
  17. And I’m wondering how anyone would know exactly when the guns arrived. Without going through FAA records or something.
  18. Agreed, the alien status thing seems strange and frustrating. But what can you do. Other than just stay home. Which I don’t mind, but occasionally a guy likes to see what’s on the other side of the hill.
  19. Thanks hi5-0. That was useful. My plan right now is get in and out in 5. I’m already registered for the match so I’m trying to do my homework well in advance.
  20. Yeah but it’s not just about the match. I wanted to do some traveling next year. And I wanted to do some comps next year. So I’m trying to combine the two. And everything “official” that I’m seeing says 5 days. That’s doable.
  21. Well this is concerning. I was under the assumption it was 5days. Looks like I’m going to have to make some phone calls.
  22. So I’ve got the IF handle installed and about 500 pulls on it. I thought I would follow up with my observations. Bear in mind, these are entirely subjective and 100% mine. 1. I made about 800 rounds with the factory ball handle before the ergo handle arrived. Not once did I think, this thing sucks, I wish I had the roller handle. Interpret that however you want. 2. The offset of the handle does give the impression of a shorter total stroke. Obviously it doesn’t. But does feel that way. The modified stroke allows me to stand closer to the press and get on top so I can look down on the carousel better. I very much like that. 3. Whether this is an illusion or not idk. But it feels like there is a significant difference in leverage. Both on the down stroke and when setting the primers. On a side note, I’m even more impressed with the 550 light than I am with the sdb light. Even brighter and more centered on the shell plate. At roughly $35 it’s a no brainer.
  23. I know very little about Bianchi Cup so I clicked on this thread to learn something. And I did. Unfortunately not what I wanted to. As an NRA member who is constantly bombarded with emails asking for money so they can protect the rights of, among others, sportsmen, this is enough to piss off any NRA paying competitive shooter. Regardless if they shoot USPSA, Trap, or PRS. Like I said, I don’t shoot BC. But I’m on board for anything I can do to restore some of its former glory.
