About 10 000 rounds through mine - in .40 - and the plastic guide rod looks absolutely brand new. But I do use a shock buffer always

I once read an article by a man who claimed that a certain type of foil made by 3M was just the thing for that kind of hat.
It had a 100% success rate. Since wearing them, his brain has never been controlled by aliens [emoji1]

I guess steel is smaller, and can't be set up too close to you. So you never get to practice shooting fast at close, easy targets - which might make you slower than you really need to be when you see them in a match

Sounds like a lubrication issue. Liquid car polish (a spoon or two) in the tumbler media should definitely help.

Yup. I always thought it was a bit harsh on the poor employees being shot at

It's a policy thing. The shareholders don't want the employees killing people.
I used to be a (very minor) shareholder in the Grindrod shipping company here in South Africa and they always stated with pride that only passive protection against piracy was used on their ships.
Personally, I would issue guns

It's not as bad as you would imagine.

An irrational fear of coming home from work to find your wife dressed in rubber and smeared from head to foot with butter?
-
I use spray paint on all my rounds. It's not a problem if you clean your gun every time you shoot (which I do)

It should be possible to anneal, harden and temper springs to rejuvenate them (provided there is no damage, like cracks). But you need a furnace, not a domestic oven, I'm afraid.
I'm not sure if it's worth the effort unless you're already set up for heat treating steel

Jimbullet - I must say my experience is similar to yours. With my cz tactical sports in 40 I changed the stock 15 pound recoil spring (admittedly well used) to an 18 pound spring. My splits on a bill drill went from .50 to .55 down to between .40 and .45 seconds. I found I wasn't waiting as long for the sights to return. I changed back and forth between the springs and the time difference was repeated every time. So now I use the heavier spring.
Of course, I'm not very good so maybe things will change over time. So I'll repeat the test from time to time.

If your gun isn't in your hot tub, then you're not using your hot tub properly

Perfectly

Three magazines, loaded to full capacity in my carry gun... eighteen years before I changed the magazine springs, and that was "just in case" (never a second of trouble - and it's not a safe queen; I shoot it regularly, but not as intensively as my competition gun)

There was a great PowerPoint presentation I got off the forum a couple of months ago that did exactly what you're looking for. Can't remember what the thread was called now....

I use a similar principle (off the press) - just cut a long V-shaped groove in a block of wood. You drop a round into the groove and spin it with one thumb while holding a marker against the case. Doesn't take too long

Ipsc is 9 rounds per view which makes minor an easier choice than uspsa with 8 per view.Ipsc does have the eight round limit per position
You are right ... my bad
-
It's not something I would practice

Verbal warning before shooting an attacker dead?

Stainless steel does not have the range of hardness that carbon steel does. All stainless starts out relatively hard and some stainless can be hardened a bit further by heat treatment.
I suspect all stainless is going to be hard work...
-
No i wasn't. Thanks for the pointer. I'll give that a try

I've been trying that a bit actually, but I've been taking some time off from dry fire to rest my arm. Got tennis elbow in the right arm - too much muscling the gun
I think it helps, but I need more time in dry fire to lock it into my subconscious
