Yeah, i chrono them often since i get checked at major matches, i used a 1050 to load with.
I was just interested in a slower powder to try and also curious what others were using for PCC.
10-4 that. Just throwing it out there.

Well, I've ran about 8K rounds through it. Figured it was due. I would appreciate yours and anyone else's opinion on that as well! Thanks in advance!
Its a matter of preference. You could probably run 8K more through it without issue BUT if you are like me and just like to keep things fresh and keep an eye on parts for wear, tear it down and clean it whenever you feel like it. I typically do mine every few thousand rounds. Definitely not necessary but not a bad idea either.

The load I was using was 4.2 gr. of tight group with a 124 and it works flawlessly in a 16 inch JP GMR. I use the same load in an MPX also.
Not sure why you'd be hearing a difference in the rounds. I assume you have chronoed these rounds and didn't notice inconsistency in velocity?

I use either Rem Oil or Hoppes for the cleaning of all parts that would be found in the frame of the pistol. Once everything is cleaned and ready for reassembly, you will want to use some sort of grease (something light and something that won't get slung off like oil but not too heavy) for the engagement points of the hammer and sear, the trigger where it contacts the disconnector and where the disconnector contacts the sear spring. Other than that, I use a little slide glide lite on the frame where the trigger rides and a little on the contact points of the thumb safety and sear.

Same plastic grip, but the limited gun is much more comfortable for my big hands because the magwell is shaped differently. It’s also smaller. I’m planning on making them as similar as possible. The sps comes with an intergrated magwell, so it doesn’t take up any spcace on the grip like the other one does. But I also can’t change it which sucks because I would like one with a bigger opening. So I think what I’m going to do is put the DVC grip on the trubor with the new big hands magwell, then take the old plastic grip from the trubor and put it on the limited gun with the same big hands magwell. Ideally I would put a dvc grip on the limited gun also and that’s the plan. Just need to wait until after Christmas when I’m not so broke. Then I’d like to put SVI long flat triggers in both guns, as well as new ambi safety’s that are a little larger on the right side for lefty’s. Try and make the two guns feel as similar as possible.
Not a bad idea to make the two as similar as possible.
Take a look at the extra wide infinity safeties. You can grind/sand and shape them to your liking and the extra wide gives plenty of material to work with.

Ya I’ve thought about tommy guns. He’s about 1.5 hours from me. I’m off work all next week, so I can finally make some phone calls during business hours. So I’m gonna call a few places. I guess whoever seems the most informative and I Guess just gives me the best feeling will get my business. Tommy guns would be ideal though since I wouldn’t have to ship the gun.
And yes, a slide racker is a great idea. Didn’t even think of that.
Definitely may wanna add a racker!!
I think a different grip that is undercut and has smaller or relieved magwell may help with the big hands problem. Is your limited gun set up similar to the open gun as far as the grip is concerned?

The new F150s are pretty weird........took me a minute to figure out that the oil filter is on top of the engine and looks nothing like your traditional filter. To make things even more complicated, there is a pan/tray that you have to remove to drain the oil. I'm sure the engineers at ford have a good reason for all this but it seems a bit too much to me.

It looks like it’s been a few years since this thread went dormant. I’m curious, have the “micro dots” made any improvements to unseat the cmore or is the old standby still king?
Still see more and more of the "micro dots" and less of the more slide ride/railway. I think the rts2 has come a long way since the origination of this thread. I know that sight in particular has seen may revisions and seems to be fairly solid these days. Of course the delta point and romeo are fairly popular these days too.

Not for 9MAJOR. Don't try it.
I'm gonna second this.........320 is a terrible idea for 9 major. WAY too fast and there are other options that would work the comp/ports much better.

Well said.......how bad they aren't!!
Just to clarify, are you talking about super or supercomp?
-
If you take cost out of the equation, you can argue that there isn't a single area that 9 is better than SC in a 1911/2011 platform. So in my opinion, 38SC is the way to go.

X line , svi, or is there another better trigger option?
Which grip are you using? Sometimes you'll run into fit issues with certain grip and trigger combinations. May want to take that into consideration before you settle on anything OR be prepared to do a little extra fitting.

I'll offer a suggestion for the play in your c-bax attachments. I drilled and tapped the under side of the attachment and installed 2 setscrews. This allowed me to position them on the belt where I wanted and they stayed there. They feel rock solid and there is absolutely no play. Super easy to drill and tap and literally took about 10 minutes to do the 3 pouches on my belt. I don't remember the exact size I used but I'll see if I can find that and I'll let you know.

Good to know. I tried a cheap aluminum carrier earlier this year, liked the performance but it died fast. Now I'm trying to tell myself spending more money on one will buy some more life out of it.
If you want something in between that may offer more longevity, you may try to seek out a BoomFab Titanium Carrier. Those worked really well and everyone that I know that has used them had good luck.

Regarding the upper receiver, yes, they are pretty much the same. Of course some may be better than others from a quality standpoint (billet vs forged) and overall QC but you could probably go with a $49 upper vs. a $149 upper and not tell the difference.
You'll probably find that everyone has a different opinion on who makes the best bolt. I'll just say that whatever manufactures bolt you go with, make sure its headspaced correctly for the barrel you are using.

I tried this out years ago https://www.underarmour.com/en-us/mens-ua-base-4-0-crew/pid1281082 and still use them. Its actually a base layer and different than most of the cold gear stuff you find at all the sporting goods stores. Fits snug but not uncomfortable and restricting like the other stuff. AND its warmer than anything else I have tried.

I have a question for the folks who have ordered from SVI.
How long did it take for your pistol to be completed once you got the email from SVI that “your gun is coming along nicely but will be a few more months”?
i received that email yesterday but I will be moving to a different state at some point around May or June. I hope it comes while I’m still a resident of N.C. but I don’t think there will be a problem if I’m in S.C. by the time it’s ready to ship. Thanks
I promise they will still sell and ship to you if you live in SC. Ask me how I know

In 2008 I was turned on to slide glide "lite" by the guys at Infinity. I was a little skeptical because I thought it was more of a grease than an oil but they assured me that it was good to go and what they used in their guns and that all new guns were sent from the factory that way. Since that time I have used slide glide in every gun I have competed with. Pistols at major and minor pf, rifles and shotguns. It stays on and doesn't get blown or slung off as quickly as oil. Order a tub and give it a try.........just make sure you go with "lite"!!

The best advice that I ignored for a long time was to get a 1050!! I loaded on a 650 for years but finally broke down and purchased a 1050. I can tell you that I regretted not getting a 1050 and loading on the 650s for as long as I did. If your budget allows, go wtih the 1050 and add a bullet feeder later. In the long run you'll be glad you did!!

I assume you're using the JP aluminum carriers? What kind of lifespan are you seeing from them?
I bought a couple when they started making them again a few years back. The two I have are both in similar setups and use the same ammo (14.5 with titan brakes, adjustable gas, and JP SCS). They are also setup for a 55 gr. bullet at 2700 fps. So far there are no signs of wear or fatigue. I'll also mention that you can tell a little difference in aluminum vs. steel carrier.......aluminum being a little better.
-
I have always ran JP low mass steel carriers. I typically shoot a mix of 55s and 77s in that setup. I have a few set up that run the aluminum carriers and those are set up to run only 55s. The aluminum carrier with the SCS with a #2 springs is the best setup I have stumbled on.

Do you know which insert is in the magwell? Also, will the mags not seat because the magazine is contacting the magwell insert on the front bottom edge of the magazine?
