there are more advantages for being taller than shorter in our sport...how often do you see low ports compared to having to reach around walls without having to really stretch???  having to take 5 steps from one port to the next instead of 2 or 3 is another big advantage for being taller...that is for 90% of the stages...
so yeah - i wish i was taller for most of the stages we shoot...

I shot a local match for years where the stage designer was 5’4”, every single wall port was perfect for him.  And he loved ports.

I have not gotten over it yet, sorry

  2. Being 6’2” senior I have a lot of issues with port height.  So anytime a shorter shooter has to get in their tip toes I have zero sympathy.

They changed the production number to 500. That makes this allowed, no?

I doubt the Alien hold up with be number produced or weight, I think it might be the design of the hammer.

I am not a likely user of the Alien, but I think it is a super cool design with new technology, but the single action type hammer might be an issue

    I hope it gets approved!!!

Here’s another news flash.  Someone that is new to the game probably doesn’t have the recoil control that you do.  Yes, a skilled shooter can shoot a Glock as fast as a DA/SA, but that’s not what I am referring to.  I have seen people come from EDC/tactical and see this as not realistic guns and get turned off.  There should be a division or two that new shooters can shoot against similar guns.  They are more likely to stick with the sport. Yes, eventually they will get an optimized gun but they should get a chance to use their home defense gun and have a shot at doing well at locals.

Regardless, how can you agree changing rules in a whim that don’t involve a safety issue be good for the sport?  I am willing to bet you when every other limited major shooter would not be happy if we got rid of major power factor in  limited just one day.  Yes raising the weight is not the same as changing power factors but it’s still messing with the rules that were already in place for no obvious reason.  Ask IDPA how that’s worked out for them.

Comparing a newbie to Ben is not legit...apples to oranges.

In all fairness, you can give the newbie a $5000 gun to go out and shoot his/her first few matches and they are not gong to be competitive.  Just not gonna happen.  USPSA has a huge learning curve, and equipment is not much of the equation if you are being honest about learning the game.  As stated too many times to count already in this thread, getting out of “C” class is about practice and figuring out the game.

Send it back? It was just beginning to look good.

I actively dislike the look of immaculate guns. Tools look much better when they look suitably broken in, in my opinion. :)

My Legion, which is only 4-5 months old, is looking very much similar to all of yours....but I doubt I would send it back for a cosmetic touch-up. Like MemphisMechanic said, it's a tool and new tools look better, suitably broken in...!!! 👍

The Sig CS rep was concerned about the exposed metal on the slide.  I am ALL for a gun that looks used and broken in, but there is a reason slides have coatings/finishes on them, to protect them from the elements.  In a short time the entire coating has come off in the hotspots.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a sissy and want the softest shooting gun possible.

I want a flat shooting gun, recoil push is a non-issue to me with my 131pf 9mm loads.

I will say that looking at video from last week’s match (1st match with the X5 Legion and 11# recoil spring), I did not like the muzzle flip, thinking about a 12# spring to experiment

  7. If anyone thinks a “B” shooter using a Glock is gonna pick up a 50+ oz. DA/SA gun and instantly become a Master is truly kidding themselves.    This is about inclusion, about allwowing Production shooters who are shooting heavy OEM +4 guns to play in CO.

I've held a few VP-9's and was going to pick one up but I want the B version and optic ready. The youtube vids from shot state all VP-9's will come optic ready, so does that mean the B models as well? It's not on their site configured that way. Anyone have any insight?

I think you are in the wrong sub-forum, the gun you are asking about is an HK

Fortunately, this is mostly an outdoor sport - little

tougher to transmit viruses outdoors, I believe.

Personally I would not want to be in an enclosed metal tube for 12+ hours with people who might have been exposed.

I have to travel for work, luckily only in the USA these days, but no chance I would go to Thailand the way things are.

That being said, there is a very low mortality rate, way lower than is being reported mainly because more people have contracted the COVID-19 virus than they know about.  Why do I say this?  Because some will have a very mild case and never be diagnosed with COVID-19.

Healthy young to middle aged people (age gourds of WS competitors) are very unlikely to have a serious reaction anyway.

But this is likely to get worse before it gets better.

I love a good conspiracy theory.  And I'm sure nothing I say will change any determined minds, but... I've been around (behind the scenes at HQ, at Nationals, and on the Board) for more than 20 years.... under Hollar, Voigt, Strader and Foley... and I've never seen "money buying influence".

The only place manufacturer money comes into play is when they sponsor something or buy an ad.

Do they have a say in how USPSA is run? depends on how you define the term "run".  No, they don't have a say in how any Board member votes.  Not on rules, not on equipment, not on match administration or staffing, not on Nationals venues, nothing.

They *do* have a voice, though, by way of what they produce.  We want to be relevant to our members, and so if Some Big Company comes out with a new model that our members are likely to want to use in USPSA competition, we have to pay attention to that and decide how to deal with it.  But there's a difference between "paying attention to manufacturers" and "being bought by manufacturers.

The weight change was not pushed by a manufacturer, was not vetted with manufacturers, and for damn-sure was not "bought" by a manufacturer.  It's a simple reaction to the fact that the market has changed, and the Board had to decide whether to allow heavier in-market guns to compete in the division, or not.

Kickbacks?  Seriously?  Whatevs.  Officers and Directors are *required* to declare a conflict of interest if they have a financial relationship with a company, and if a discussion involves that company the person with the conflict has to remove themselves from the matter.  Not just the vote - they can't even be part of the discussion.

What’s a good, reliable trigger system/spring kit for this gun?

got one used for a great deal.

Here ya go, I did all the work for you a few years ago.  I am out of the CZ game now but I suspect that CGW now has a much superior DISCO to the one I was using so it it very possible to get a much better end result.

I've only been shooting 8 years. Not hosed by a popper yet, but I keep careful track of calibration and adjustment when I work matches, and I keep even more careful track at our local matches.

Not that I am keeping track or anything..... But I got Popper HOSED on the last shot on the last stage of the South Carolina State Match (FREAKING great match btw) about 5 years ago  and it was a long 8 hour drive home.

At a local stuff is gonna happen, not the end of the world as you can’t expect things to be reset or set up perfectly every time

  13. 4 minutes ago, ziebart said:

Would you change popper calibration too?

Current popper calibration rules are a joke.  You are testing a popper that has already been altered from it’s original setting.

Yeah.... Let’s run down this rabbit hole because there are two kinds of shooters, those that have been hosed by a popper and those that WILL be hosed by a popper.

  14. I started reading it yesterday.

The beginning talks about nerves and dealing with them.  Not an issue for me

Then talks about realistic goals, in a detailed manner.  👍🏻

I think it will be a good read and worth the purchase price if you want to understand what is going on in top level match shooting and/or want to up your game.

  15. The timer will tell what weight is best for a particular shooter.  I can’t imagine a 59oz. gun is gonna be fast in a wide transition.

I have. X5 Legion and was thinking of trying a regular X5 grip module on the timer to see if it made a difference.

Ho hummm,  have fun with the gun/gear race. I think I will practice some more

Do I need the complete kit or just the trigger

Springs, sear, trigger are all components to the equation.

Remember the Legion has different geometry to the P320 and the P320 X5 variants.

  17. There is a point of diminishing returns on weight.  Think transitions.  I am sure there is a weight that starts to hinder HF.  What is that weight for any particular person?  Only the timer will tell.

This had to come from pressure by the heavy gun companies.  I could care less, but you have to ask why?  What does this add?

    Ho Hum
