  1. All posts have good insite, but my .02 is it's the sizzle. Most who shoot IPSC have "hot dog" tendencies (myself included). We drive too fast, shoot too fast and I'm told talk too fast (at least before the brain is engaged). It's the seductive siren of speed. Most want to shoot a fast time, and it's easier with a bottom feeder. Combine it with courses that have fairly high miss factors (makeup shots required) leaving a Revo shooter standing and fumbling and it just "FEELS" better to be quicker reloading after missing that last plate with an auto than a Revo.

Part of this was the original concept of IPSC, everyone competes against everyone, heads up. That led me to worship at the shrine of the hicap, comped, scoped thunderstick. Then burn out led to downsizing, first Limited then Limited 10. Now it's Revo, but I ALWAYS loved shooting a Revo, it just wasn't competitive. I don't really care now, I'm not out to make a name, or earn bucks. Just have fun.

    Now the solution?

We need to make it sizszle! For the average guy. How to do that I don't know.

Probalby start locally, maybe let a few shooters run through a course with a slicked up Revo.

Maybe we need a minimum Pull Weight, you know down to basics. Just got my 625 back from Randy Lee. Man the pull is unbelievalbe, it's going to give me a complex. I just know I can shoot faster now than I will be. I may have to jack the weight up, just for my sanity.

But then even the PC625 with a Lee Job is less than an off the shelf Kimber SS Competition model.

Sorry for the rambling, it's slow today.

  2. We now have 4 committals (committed's?) for Revo. I am confident we will have 5 and the organizers will give a placque. I will donate a FMC Ammo Box for the High Revolver.

Anyone who has sent in their Apps, please send an email to CCPS and let them know you want to shoot Revolver.

I will be working, shooting on Friday, so look me up.

    Dave

  3. I'll start a new topic. The CCPS is hosting the "Sunflower Classic" May 20-21. It's only an "Approved" Match, but they usually give out a couple of Pistols and anything else by Raffle. The website is:

    http://www.capitalcitygunclub.com/pistol/r...s/SFCentry.html

They are "NOT" recognizing Revolver at this time. But, if we can get 5, or more, entries with Revolver wrote into the Division i.e. (Ltd10-Revolver) then I may get them to add a placque.

Regardless, if we do have 5, I will donate a prize (maybe with a placque attached) specifically for High Revolver.

It's a fun match at a low fee (lunch usually provided).

  4. I'm shooting Revolver, even though I may have to register in L10.

Since it is a Placque Match, with prizes by Raffle, what's to lose. It's more important to me to get ready for the Area 3, where I will also shoot a Revolver.

There are a few guys in KC that shoot Revo every once in a while, I'll try to drop them a line.

  5. Thinking of coming up from Kansas. Are you coming to the Sunflower Classic, I'm planning on shooting a Revolver, even though they won't recognize it (for now). If you are coming and will shoot a revolver, let me know.

Anyone else want to show up and shoot Revolver? If we can get 5 to show up I may buy the placque myself, and donate it!

  6. I have been shooting a M29 converted to Full Moon Clips with 44 Russians for over a year. They work fine. There are several issues though.

    1) I have yet to find anything but Lead Round Nose Bullets, and few of them. They work OK, just smoke and harder to clean. Mid Kansas had the best bullet, but they are out of business and National Bullets is one of the few left.

    2) The case is just long enough that they will occassionaly hang up on a Miculek grip panel, and if you flip too quick they may fall back in your way. 45 acp is less likely to do this. There is .075" difference and it does make one.

    3) If you are shooting IDPA, you can't use Full Moon Clips, you must use speed Loaders. I've yet to find any super trick Speed Loaders for a 44 N Frame. If you use Speed Loaders you're better off using 44 Specials. As the Russian is actually too short and doesn't guide into the cylinder at all. The Special is just long enough to fall right in with Speed Loaders.

Reloading for a Russian is real easy, but I've noticed split case mouths more frequently than I'm used too. If you decide to go forward and need some data, let me know.

  7. Great Idea, I live within a couple of hours and am planning on shooting Revo. Would have last year but the trigger stud broke on my Smith! 3 weeks before the match.

Well, this year I should have that one as a backup, and a new PC625 with a Randy Lee Evolution IV Action Job.

    Am looking forward to it.

  8. Have all of the necessary stuff, except .44 molds. Cast a few thousand in the past. Just seems I have trouble making the time to load, let alone cast. Actually, thought of going the Corbin route, just hate to spend the money and still not be willing to spend the time.

May just have to break down and get a .45 Rotary thing, and keep the .44 M29 for a spare. Heck, the better half even "TOLD" me to buy one.

Bet I sound like the guy who falls off of a roof into a bed of roses, then complains that he's allergic to roses.

  9. Looking for any .44 caliber Round Nose bullets, was using Nationals and they jumped the price of Lead Bullets (.44 240 LRN) to $72/M! Shipping is extra!

At that price I might as well shoot Jacketed in my Revolver.

Or, Ghast!, may have to cast my own!

  10. Any word on when Precision Bullets will be shipping out again?
