Possibly your recoil spring? I know mine starts to act funky with FTE's and FTF's when it's wearing out. Of course that's always during a match and never at practice!
I resorted back to the stock SA recoil spring before this match. Round count on the spring is 1300
My first thought is ammo. mags and springs could be too. what ammo are you using?
My reload: 4.6gr Bullseye, 230 PL RN, 1.263 COL. More crimp perhaps?
Some ideas............
get some other ammo, buy, trade, etc. and try about 100 rounds and see what happens.
Also, number your mags to see if its the same mag/s giving you problems with FTF or not dropping free
Measure your mags to see if they are all the same width or similar
Change your recoil spring to a fresh one or one pound heavier
Try a different brand of mags, borrow a mag and shoot that one and see if it happens with your ammo and a different mag
I was meaning to label my mags. I should have done it before this match. I still have some factory ammo, I'll try those next time.
Thanks for the replies.

It is starting to be bothersome now at matches that I have occasional FTF problems. After looking at my headcam on the last match, I was thinking it is probably mag related, what do you think?
-No stovepipes on all stoppages. All spent brass is grabbed and ejected away from the pistol
-About a good 80% of FTF occurs with the last round on the magazine.
-Sometimes, the slides locks back with the last round on the magazine
-When I empty the mag, it harder to drop the mag freely
I was thinking this might be mag related? I have CMC 8rd Power Mags. They were no problems when it was new. But if most of you with Power Mags know, there is absolutely no front of the follower. I can literally pull out the follower out from the feed lips. Last round can nose dive, up dive, etc on the magazine, and the follower can easily move forward from the feed lips when empty.
Can this be mag related or might it be something else?
There is the vid from my recent match. To save you the boredom of my shooting skills FTF occurs on the following time:
-1.04
-1.10
-3.20
-3.46
-4.30
-5.07
(that a lot!)

I was bullets forward when shooting Production and switch to bullets out when I switched to Single Stack. Less needed space is a plus especially in Single Stack.
I like bullets out better than bullets forward; from the 3'o clock 'till the back of my waist. I set the 1st mag just behind my hip bone, anything forward that it, feels awkward. That's probably because I'm using this funky duty pouch as a competition mag pouch:
But yea if I have money I'll replace that Safariland with yet another bullets out mag pouch. Proper ones like a Ghost or DAA Racer.

I have Dawson FO fronts, and 10-8 rears. As far as ignition, I only have Apex sear and USB kit.
-
I only have a LCT for reloading so I went ahead and gave it a try. The indexing rod is reverse but also is shorter. It indexes the turret faster the the normal rod. Though its good the indexing portion of the rod is shorter (less dead area), I had to form a 'groove' when I index the turret. If I index the reverse turret like I do the regular one, there a big change it will overshoot the turret detent. Once you get into the groove everything works fine.
As far as speed, I was able to clock 200rds/hr on the normal LCT. With InLine Fab's reverse turret, I also did 200rds/hr BUT I did it much more comfortably.
This is good enough for me to stave off my eventual upgrade to a progressive maybe until the end of the year.

Subscribed to this guy and his awesome CZ TS (and other CZ's) vids.

It's been brutal at my local match these past few weeks. About 9.00am to 4.30pm with greater than 120 shooters on 5 stages, gulp!

Thanks for the reply. I will go ahead and check to see if the hammer follows while trigger is in full forward position. C&S did market their spring as a lightened sear spring. If that is the case, I will just throw back the stock SA sear spring.
This constant search as to why I have the same tigger pull given I have a lighter mainspring + polshed the trigger bow/ tracks a little bit showed me something I forgot: ignition parts absolutely doesnt have any oil/grease/lunrication at all.
Cross my fingers when I get home.

Initially, I just wanted to install a Dawson Ice magwell on my SA Loaded. I decided to add in a 19lb mainspring and C&S sear spring to lighten up the trigger pull a little bit. I did mess up the ambi safety and ended up also getting a Wilson ambi safety.
I dropped the slide to check function and the hammer falls into the half cock position. I did this before updating very seldom, but I never remembered the hammer dropping into the half cock position. Now if I drop the slide with a dummy round, the hammer never drops into half cock.
Can the C&S sear spring have caused this? Is this condition not safe? I have polished the disconnector and trigger bow a little bit. Could that nee sear spring have caused this? Does replacing the thumb safety have anything to influence trigger action?
Also dissapointing was trigger pull is about the same as before. I didn't have a scale before, but it now breaks at around 5lbs and it felt the same like before. Should't a lighter mainspring lighten up the trigger pull a little bit? Thanks.

What was a simple Dawson Ice magwell install and detail strip (for the first time) turned into a broken ambi safety on my SA loaded. I was leveraging the safety with aluminum stock for a little bit. When I some the left side safety move a little bit, it was over. The safety was already bent.
How do you guys revome your ambi safety? The springfield's was so stiff. The ambi would not even budge with the use of my hands, stupid me I thought of leveraging it with an aluminum stock.
I examined the SA safety and they do fit pretty stiff. Are aftermarket ambi's also this stiff?
Now I'm the the market for an ambi safety. Any recommendations? I was thinking of either an STI or Wilson Combat high thumb?
Thank you

Does anybody have a Laserlyte Laser Trainer and use it with holster work? I would like to get a Laserlyte for dry fire practice on my 1911 but want to make sure it clears the holster, thanks.
-
Thanks guys! I really like the classic style magwell but my 1911 will only see day when it's going to a uspsa match....
...so dawson ice it is!

I am still on the fence which type of magwell to choose from.
Are game-type magwells (Dawson Ice, Techwell, Infinity) leaps and bounds faster than regular magwells? (SA, Ed Brown)
If the significance is great, I'll get a Dawson. If it is not too much, I'll get an Ed Brown. I do like the look of a regular magwell. Does magwell even come into play for a C-class shooter?
Your opinion between the two types of magwell is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Same here with my M&P. Slam the mags home and auto-forwarding is fastest. When I switched to single stack though, I see myself using #1.

Here is my recent shotgun only match. Please pardon my D-class shooting, I just like to show how the M3K had zero malfunctions. I thought I had a malfunction on stage 1 but I stupidly racked the bolt on an loaded chamber. Stage 3 is an all slug stage. Stage 4 is mix of bird, buck, and slugs. I had a couple of people asking how the M3K is. Thing is like a truck that just keeps on chugging along. Oh, and I also had 4 rounds of skeet the day before so ya, like a truck.
-
I run CMC Powermags on my single stack. So far, I haven't had any problems with it.
-
I use 7.5 shot, 1oz, 2 3/4 shells. Sometimes, a stage also calls out for 00 buck and/or slugs. I just find the cheapest 00 buck and low recoil slugs for those.
-
Thanks for all the reply guys. I had fun with the match. Anyways, being a green horn on 3-gunning myself, I messed up the stage. I loaded up the buck as planned, BUT forgot that birdshot was still in the chamber. So my first buckshot target is a procesural becasue I shot it with birdshot, duh. Anywho, it was an amazing experience and learned a lot form this all shotgun match.
-
Thank you for all the replies. My question is more on the mechanical aspect of loading on the fly. (i.e. load slug befoe the last birshot target) Stage description is out. 4 slugs at start, 4 buck in the middle and birdshot in between. I think I have an idea how to load the tube at start and loads on my caddy. I still primary load caddies, no deuce or quads (yet) for me.
Big important thing is not to go dry on gun ya?
-
I have an all shotgun match in 2 weeks and stage designer might add a stage where multiple loads are needed to complete the stage.
How do you change load on a fly? I could per-arrange the load on the tube if possible but how do you change load on the fly on a semi-auto shotgun? Thank you.

I have been shooting 4 rounds of Skeet every Friday after work leading up to CA Action Shotgun Challenge in 2 weeks. Its a shotgun only match and I'm really looking forward to it. I've had 0 failures since I got it few months ago. I thought I had some failures when I had my 3 gun match but I:
-ran the tube dry
-didn't press the action release button on a loaded /empty chamber start
Bought a Nordic barrel clamp, Tru Glo sights for the match. I'll probably polish the mag tube and I'm good to go.

I'm interested in trying out Limited / L10 thru CZ 75 TS in 40. I just have a few questions.
-Does the CZ75 TS ship with 3 or 2 magazines?
-Its hard to see from pics online but is the front sight have an FO insert? Is it bright?
Thanks

Can Ghost 360 be used for single stack?
-
I cannot seem to find some info online before deciding mag pouches for single stack.
Does Ghost 360 need some spacer (like CR Speed's) in order to accommodate single stack mags? Any single stack shooters out there that use Ghost 360, how do you like it?
Thanks
What does reloadable mean in mags?
in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
Posted
Sorry for an elementary question but I really don't know its definition.
I'm getting ready to try Limited division soon. I am looking around basepads, mag capacity, springs, and other Limited division topics and I always see the term reloadable.
"Oh, my S_I mags can fit 20 reloadable."
What does reloadable mean? I think I have an idea but not too sure if it is correct. "I can stuff 20 rounds in my mag and all of those will cycle the gun reliably." Is that a correct definition of reloadable?
