I think I just answered my own question....looks like only Ruger makes a revolver that meets the weight requirement.
-
Now that we've got this Carry Optics Division thing going. I wonder if it wouldn't have been a bad idea to include revolvers?
-
can you deepen the notch in the rear sight?
-
sounds right to me. I'd add a little to get back some rear sight adjustment.

I normally shoot Production with a G21 or G41. If I mill the slide to accept a Red Dot, can I, in the future remove the Red Dot if I want to shoot Production in the future?
I wouldn't do that. It's a provisional division...might go away. Then, you've got a milled slide that isn't Production Division legal. Why not just get a dovetail adapter?

I find that many of the fellows in colorful shirts don't really spend a lot of time doing it. Those mag cleaning sessions and pontificating on "what they saw" eats up their time.
That's why they should wear camo. It's much too easy to see when they're goofing off, or leaving before tear down

I'm shoot in all divisions. Now, with the new optics division, I've got another one to get classified
-
What are you talking about?
Everyone who thought PO was a stupid idea is butthurt because the BOD approved it. Everyone who wanted PO is butthurt because of the weight limit.
It is what it is. Let's go shoot.
I"m not hurt in any way. I've got at least 3 guns in my safe that I can use in that Division, as a matter of fact, I'm expecting a package with an adapter for my JPoint

Continue to play or continue to be competitive?
They could play in open.
If this division turns out to be anything like normal production it will be the same story there playing but not competitive. Ive always thought production was supposed to be beginners with pretty stock guns. Not some of the best shooters with highly modified ones, that's what limited and open should be for.
where did you come up with that? I didn't realize that Production was only for beginners and once you become a good shooter you're supposed to move to open ....
Not saying that's the facts just what I always thought while getting started. Putting the best drivers in the slowest cars Just seems backwards but maybe that's just me.
Could be just you, but if I were a manufacturer, I would put my advertising into the division with the greatest market share for the general public.
-
By that logic then, there should only be one division ...open.

fixed it for you

Assuming it stays 10 rounds minor, they should let them shoot in L10. It would increase the L10 numbers and the dot could make up for not being able to shoot minor. What do yall think
That's been discussed in some of the previous 65 pages, besides, the BOD already decided to create a new provisional division.
-
I really don't understand the logic behind limiting the guns, seems like if it is to be Production Optics, all legal production guns should be eligible???
I'll bet there are a lot of people scratching their heads
-
cant buy double stacks? Really? I never knew that. Then what gun will they use for WO?
It probably has more to do with justifying the expense to yourself and "others". It might also have to do with restrictive states where you can't get double stack guns.
lol probably stay right here in open with my ultra expensive Cheely's.Sarge, what kind of production optics gun are you getting?
I saw on Facebook somebody dubbed the new division "welfare optics"! That's friggin funny.
If I can afford an open gun as a school bus driver on a military pension then trust me, damn near anybody else can as well.
Well, we can get some double stacks, but are limited to 10 rounds. An open gun with 10 rounds isn't very competitive.

BritinUSA and others lobbied long and hard for this division. Now that it's been approved by the BOD, I can't see why anyone would rain on his parade? If it helps, great, if it doesn't, it will go away all by itself.

Can't tell if it has a mesh crown:

With this weight limit it appears that it will prohibit a lot of the metal framed guns, so maybe the intent here is to even the playing field a little. I wonder if the BOD thinks that the metal framed guns have too much of an edge in Production and so want to make a more polymer friendly division ?
Not sure about that. Two lines down from the 33 oz weight limit, it says " no more than 4 oz over the weight shown on the Production gun list".

Since there are no equipment requirements, can I shoot my XD with a JPoint on a sight adapter or do I need to get the slide milled to accept the JPoint directly? (I'm too darn lazy to do a search)

Happens everywhere. We've noticed after the shooter completed their run. There is a tendency to go back uprange at spectator area, clean mags, load mags and tend to watch from there. That could happen 2-3 shooters later, oops! The squad is done, no need to help.
Solution: During Pre match safety briefing. "When the shooter is finished with their stage, please remain on stage to help reset and tape, there is plenty of time between stages to clean and load mags since the next stage is likely occupied."
Seems to work...
I don't really agree with taping on a stage you've just completed. Last week, I happened to be close to the farthest targets and I thought the RO had already scored, so I taped it. I was wrong, so I shot that stage for no score. My fault.

Did the same with mine. If you don't mind my answering, Lowes, home depot, ace hardware all carry nylon spacers or I cut a few pieces from a Delrin rod and put a hole in the center.
-
Just got mine in the mail today. I'll check tomorrow. Luckily, I found a few Para springs in my parts bin
-
Ok.. Mine's still in the warehouse and I ordered before you did. Guess you'll be the one to see if they fit.

If you're thinking the steel gun is better, you might as well get it. Get the Glock also. If you don't get the steel gun, it will always be in the back of your mind, you could have been a lot better

One of my 550's doesn't quite come to rest with the shell plate high enough to rotate. I've been looking at this thing and it's schematic diagram and I can't figure what makes the ram come to rest where it does. It's an older press and my others don't have that problem. What am I missing? Any ideas? Thought I'd check here, before I call DIllon.
