  1. It needs to be turned down slightly. You can chuck it up in a drill press or even a hand drill and use a sanding block. Thats what I did and fits like a champ now
  2. The Taran Tactical charging handle is not a drop in fit. it must be turned down slightly, but this can be done very easily using a drill and sandpaper. PM me if you would like me to explain how to do it. Also I believe that MOA Precision is working on a drop in charging handle. As for the bolt release, the existing release must be drilled and tapped but this is a relatively simple process. We have a complete tutorial on this install here http://youtu.be/lKuLALLhzsQ. Those should be the correct chokes. I have been running the +6 extension for a while now without the clamp and havent had any issues. Anything longer and i would suggest it though
  3. Did it work for you or was that the firat and last time
  4. sorry made me do it in 2 post That safety is tiny! And mine is really hard to turn off/on too. Did you guys massage that any?I noticed the tiny safely too. I worked mine back in forth for a bit and it smoothed out a little. It could still stand to be alittle lighter. The factory safety is pretty tiny but the Taran safety feels great. Its just big enough to disengage as your finger rides into the trigger guard without being too bulky.
  5. Here is some pics from our install of Taran Tactical's parts. The oversized safety and bolt release were easy installs as stated in Patrick's article. Taran's lifter took some fitting but functions and feels great. Oversized bolt handle had to be turned down just a bit, but doesn't require the scallop that is cut out on the factory handle. We will be posting install videos for all but the bolt handle within the week or so. Last thing to do is open up the loading port and run it hard at the match here in 2 weeks. Will keep everybody updated.
  6. Jesse this might be why you have to cut off the small metal piece on the front of the stock tube. Shouldnt be an issue to just cut and clean up that piece to find out. If not I have some brand new tubes on there way for a couple more of these that im doing and should be able to figure it out.
  7. I have the Benelli M2 bolt handle from Taran Tactical and it does NOT fit out of the box. My understanding is that this is the same handle for the versamax. The factory Stoeger handle is 4.8mm whereas the Benelli replacement is 5mm. I am going to attempt to turn it down and fit it for the Stoeger. Ill make sure and let evryone here know how it goes.
  8. Bumped, I'm wondering the same. Started installing one from taran last night. The breech bolt lock is staked to the lifter but otherwise it is the same. Anybody got a suggestion on breaking the stake
  9. Versamax from Nordic Components. Did that handle fit without modifications or did you still have to turn it down
  10. I am working on a complete tear down video of the shotgun now. Including installing a new bolt release, safety, charging handle and lift gate. Will post links here when they are done
  11. I agree, I'm thinking about doing this also. Anyone have any experience with the HiViz sights on a shotty? Setup like a pistol with the front and rear sights? Any of the do-it yourself loading port guys having any issues with the stock lifter? It seems like I'd get a pretty good bite using the stock lifter and that it will only be worse when I start filing the gun down. Finally, how big of a PITA is it to tap and drill a hole for an extended bolt release? You shouldnt have to do anything to install the extended bolt release. We will be doing an install video in the next week or so with Taran Tactical parts. Including the bolt release, safety and an attenpt to make a new charging handle and lift gate work. 12. It took a while but finally got around to making a video of the extension installation. I have the 26" and used the +6 tube for a flush fit. Thanks to everyone on this thread who helped with info on how to get a great 3 gun shotgun set up. Unfortunately it wont let me post a link to the video. If you search "stoeger m3000 extension tube" on youtube, I have 2 videos posted on it. One from cajunfighter87 and one from thetacticalbay
  13. Thanks. Please keep us informed. As a Benelli insider, can you reveal if there are any real differences between the Benelli and Stoeger Inertial Operating Systems? Thanks again. Off the top of my head. The action spring is not behind the receiver. It is wrapped around the magazine tube. The M3000 appears to be a significant quality level above the M2000. The junction of the forend and receiver is smooth with no FN SLP or Versa Max "Step" that has to be cut away. It accepts Benelli Super Nova tube extensions. I think it is going to be hard to beat as a under $500 power tool. I actually had a question about the extension tube that you used. What brand was it, because I tried the Nordic Components tube for the supernova and it would thread on about 2.5 turns and then would just lock up. If there is something that I am missing please enlighten me because this would make an awesome 3-gun shotgun. I have put roughly 500 rounds through this gun without a single malfunction. Thanks ahead of time
