I wonder if a stock striker spring is pulling the gun out of battery a bit when you pull the trigger and have a 11 pound recoil spring. I can run 11 pound springs in our Gen 3 34's but our Gen 5 34's are real sluggish going into battery with an 11 pound spring. If you know that test where you point the gun up pull the trigger and see if the slide will return to battery when cycling the slide. My wife had the first gen 5 and got the slide cerakoted. It definitely would not return to battery performing that test. My gun has the factory finish and I never tried the 11 pound spring. I just went 13 across the platform after that. I don't like being that close to the edge. The slide has more mass on the gen 5 34's is my theory on why it needs a little stouter spring, plus your may have a little more weight up there with a dot. We run reduced power striker springs as well.
I tried it. Pointing it up and racking it after a trigge4 pull and yup, doesn’t go into battery. Also I’ve got the weight of the Delta point to contend with so I think 11 is just too light . Even hand cycling I would describe it as “sluggish”. I will swap it out for a 13 and see if there is a change. Unfortunately, I’m leaving the country for a week and it’s winter here so I may not be able to test it form quite a while. When I do I’ll report back ..

Thanks for the comments. To add more detail. 11 pound spring is an ISMI and striker is 4.5. I can shoot a one hole group of the range bag with my limited and SS guns so I don’t think the problem is me.

I’ve put a new Gen5 G34 together to play in CO and honestly I’m not getting the accuracy I’d expect from it. Shooting with the dot at about 15 yards I’m getting a 3-4” group. I’m gunning an 11 pound recoil spring and wondering if this is adversely affecting accuracy? Gun unlocking early? I’m resting on my range bag. It’s not me.

I disengage (thumb stays on) after the muzzle clears the holster, but is pointed low and downrange on the way up... well before my support hand comes on.
This. Barrel is close to horizontal but not much above my waist. Support hand is just starting to come under the trigger guard.

Reviving this. Does the SVI low profile sit lower necessitating a lower front sight or does the rear blade sit at the same height as a Bomar?

so you want to make it substantially easier to make GM? right now it's more like 1-3% depending on the division.
So what’s wrong with calling the top 5 percentile of our sport GMs. If that bothers you let’s make it the top 3 percent. It’s like settingnpar on a golf course. Par doesn’t matter. Only your score.

I’ve thought this for years. A GM’s classifiers should be in the top 5 percentile of all shooters. It shouldn’t be based on shooting 95% or better of some arbitrary number. Hell, our HFF isn’t even HFF because I’ve seen numerious people shoot over 100% on classifiers and the “HFF” doesn’t move up when submitted.

Do it. I shoot 171PF with 12 lb recoil and a 19 lb MS, works great.
Most folks are using 12's & 13's for 180gr Major.
That’s exactly where I am

Charlie, noticed your new blaster #4 appears to be a heavier slide than your other guns with no lightening cuts. How would you describe the difference and why did you go this direction.

Looking to rebarrel my 40 Limited gun (bull barrel) and I notice that Infinity barrels are 1:24 twist where bar-sto and everyone else it seems are 1:16. What’s the advantage / disadvantage. Will 1:24 stabilize a slow moveing 200gr bullet?

We’ll blow me down. I missed that the first time I read through the rules. Don’t know how.

Does the hit count in this situation. Two holes in the target. A perfectly round Alpha and another hole you can put your thumb through. No sign of a grease ring. Shot clearly skipped off a barrel and tumbled through the target. Barrels are painted so we can determine it did not pass through the barrel but skimmed off. RO says “ that’s off the barrel. No grease ring. Mike”. I say “show me grease ring in the rule book. It’s not through the barrel and there’s two holes in the A zone.” So does this score as two Alpha or Alpha Mike?

I went with the MOS because I wanted the option of shooting production or 3gun from time to time as well
-
Just ordered two from the company.

That’s 95lb spring rate versus 14lb
-
I can’t seem to find one except ordering from the company

I put a Taylor freelance +10 on my music mags and they worked from the very first. No problems whatsoever

I think I solved my problem. Apparently I had no idea how to correctly adjust the fail safe powder return bar After watching a video mine was WAY to lose leading to inconsistent throws.

Why can’t I get the extremes spread on my reloads down? I’m dropping 4.5 grains on my Dylan 550. Hornaday FMJ and my extreme spread is anywhere from 50 to 60+ FPS. I load WST in 40 for my limited gun and my extreme spread is 15 FPS. I tried loading 4.3 g of Clays with 200 gr LSWC and my extreme spread is still over 50. Both loads are 1.250 and running hot. 175-180 for the FMJ and 175-177 for the LSWC. What gives with the wide velocity spread?

What is the compressed length of a spring for a 5” 1911?

OK, modified and tested....Double post
In what way did you trim the Derlin pad. Circumference or width / depth. Maybe a pic would help.

I put a BCM KAG grip on mine but my barrel / muzzle device is only 11 inches. I wanted a way to feel that my index finger wasn’t hanging over the front of the barrel?. It sure helps me pull the carbine in tight too.
