  1. Same here @Ck867 I had 2 sets of the henning grips and just sold one set (silver) last week. I thought those were going to be the last grips i ever purchased until i tried the 2.0 scales. Although I'm certain when/if PD releases a smaller palm swell grip ill be jumping on that bandwagon as well...

  2. I added a "finger groove" to my DAA racer pouches (similar to the ghost style pouches) to my last pouch on the belt. Dont have any pics at the ready but it came out "OK" looking. Not really sure of the benefit as i rarely get to pull that mag at local matches/practices etc. only really in dryfire.

  3. Man that would really bum me out, seeing as they didn't have any problems keeping my "worst" score on there that was a 37 HF.

If i were to appeal it, would i just email USPSA or is there a more official way of going about it?

I probably shouldn't care this much about a B classification but damn Ive worked hard to improve and a part of me wants something to show for it!

  4. Hey thanks!

...So it will not count then? I'm still pretty green on understanding the whole classification system and as of now only have 5 classifiers on file...Right now it has a "P" next to it.

Really hoping this will be the one to put me into B class after some pretty bad luck on the last few classifiers.

  6. **Update**

Just got back from a practice session, ran roughly 175 rounds through a couple different drills.

All ammo was loaded with Winchester Primers and every single round lit off without a problem. No light strikes in DA, and no hammer falls after the DA.

I calipered the primer depth on about 25% of these loads and through various mixed brass casings i was showing a depth variance of .004-.007 on finished rounds.

I also case gauged every single round and even the rounds that didn't pass, chambered and fired (thanks to Joe and Tony @PD on the advice of getting the barrels reamed ;))

I'm not 100% sure this is the end of my struggles but its a step in the right direction and gives me some needed confidence before my next match. Ill update any new findings, etc and chime in where/if i can.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback and advice on this, it is much appreciated.

Winchester primers are pretty easy to find also. I save federal for level 2 and above and run Winchester for local matches anyway. But that is just insurance. If you find winchesters to run 100% then why worry about trying to make CCI work?

@kujo929 i guess its more of i don't want to have to rely on any "one thing" to run my guns. But im starting to come to terms with the fact that this may just be the case and price to pay for all the other benefits shooting a Tanfo provides me. Hard as they are sometimes - I love these damn guns!

Most guns need a better polish. The rough areas will be easier to see after running heavy springs.  maybe run the EG medium or wolff 17 or 18 for 1000 rounds, then detail polish.

    Pins, holes and pivot points.

    Than you johnbu,

i am seriously considering the EG Medium (and a re-polish never hurt anyone ;))  I have 150+ rds loaded up with Winchester primers that Im going to practice with today. The result of today's session will determine what the next step will be for me.

  9. I took both of my Stock 2's down approx .0115 each. It amazes/worries me how different the tolerances can be on these Tanfos. i may be the anomaly here but i had some pretty serious rubbing going on with the BOLO on both of my guns. This mod has not only increased the hammer travel for me but also significantly lightened and smoothed out the DA pull in both guns.

Huge thank you again to PD

  10. ...The saga continues...

Range Report #2: 60 Rds Total, all fired in DA

    • 1st string= 0/10 LS
    • 2nd string= 0/10 LS
    • 3rd string= 0/10 LS
    • 4th string= 0/10 LS
    • 5th string= 2/10 LS
    • 6th string= 1/10 LS

NOTE: This test was after performing the BOLO modification where i removed approx .0115 off of the originally measured .4640 BOLO, as well as shimming my 650 press to seat the primers deeper. This test was done with roughly 85% CCI primers/15% Winchester primers. not sure if its worth noting, but i didn't case gauge any of these rounds. All LS rounds lit off on the second attempt in DA after inspection. All LS were CCI primers.

Now I'm left wondering; Do i push it further on the BOLO modification (PD recommended a window of removal being .010 - .020) and/or give the EGD Medium hammer spring a try...Way i figure it is even if i tank the BOLO and have to buy a new one + the EGD springs, that's still a hell of a lot cheaper than a 1050...

  11. Thanks MemphisMechanic,

I was under the impression the EGD Medium was actually lighter than the PD 15.5# - so this is good to know! I also am after match reliability more so than "Race gun-like trigger pull"

One thing I have noticed, after making the aforementioned BOLO mod, my DA trigger feels MUCH lighter and smoother than before the modification. I had some pretty significant rubbing going on (see below) so I'm wondering what kind of trigger pull that mod + an EGD medium spring would result in...This shit never ends i swear

  12. I received my PD grips last week (thank you guys!) And my experience was similar to JusticeOfToren - They felt comfortable/consistent on the weak hand side with the increased surface area and traction due to the palm swell (previous grips were Henning checkered) but I have not been able (yet) to get comfortable with the angle/swell on my strong hand grip.

I mainly experienced the inconsistency with sped-up reloads and draw drills (4 aces/El prez/Bill drills) but it wasn't as evident when reloading on the move or shooting more deliberately. I have been hammering the dryfire with these for the past several days with one day of live fire as well.

I'm new in this game so don't take my word for it, and at $36 i think they are definitely worth a look.

+1 on the idea of making 2 sizes available to the market but from a manufacturing standpoint I can imagine what an ordeal that may be. One thing is certain, if/when PD makes that option available - ill be buying them. Again. :)

Wait. You have flush primers with Winchesters?

I have my 650s primer ram shimmed further upward and it consistently drives Winchesters in at least .005" below flush.

Take the little metal bracket that the primer punch / ram comes down onto and slide a thin washer underneath it, then reinstall it. Takes maybe 10 minutes to do.

Try that first and see if it works.

    Thanks Memphis,

when you have a sec can you take a look and let me know if this is correct? Also (noob question) how do I measure the primer depth on a case?

  14. Final results from the range testing, all strings were fired in DA only including the one string fired from my practice gun:

    • 1st string= 1/10 LS
    • 2nd string= 1/10 LS
    • 3rd string= 1/10 LS
    • 4th string= 1/10 LS
    • 5th string= 1/10 LS
    • 6th string= 0/10 LS
    • 7th string= 0//10 LS
    • 8th string (practice gun)= 1/10 LS
    • 9th string=0/10 LS
    • 10th string= 1/10 LS
    • 11th string= 1/5 LS
    • 12th string= 0/5 LS

To me this shows that this is definitely an ammo/primer seating issue. Im going to try the BOLO adjustment for now while i research options on possibly selling the 650 and either taking the plunge into a 1050 or loadmaster press.

  15. I'm at the range now and so far not very happy with what I'm seeing...50 rounds in, all in double action, 1/10 shots has been a light strike (5/50) I currently have the FP block removed so I think I can safely assume that's not the culprit. I did find some rounds with flush or higher primers, but guess what...they have all lit off in DA

not sure if I should waste any more time/ammo here before trying to tune the BOLO/sell my 650/buy 1050. FML

  16. Hi guys,

I re-examined the FP block on the advice of SoCalshooter69 and there does seem to be some irregular wear in a couple spots. Im going to remove it and run 100 rds through it today and report back. Outside of that, im considering the BOLO adjustment to increase the hammer travel and also curious if anyone has any feedback/recommendation in regards to the PD extended firing pin...i think it claims to be 20% longer than the Henning/Extreme/stock options out there.
