Did you get a set?...I have them, currently uninstalled and back to LOK's. Let me know if you have any specific questions on them ill answer if i can.

When you say hung up on the chamber do you mean they weren't feeding right? Just wondering why a longer OAL is the answer to your issue.

    Oops! I meant 1.118 +/-

Yes I had 3 rounds that failed to feed and they were loaded between 1.125 - 1.135 so going to drop the charge a bit and load em a bit shorter.

You should be okay, looking at my s2 chrono data 3.6gr gave me a 133pf avg with 147gr Acme FPs. I'd probably end up at 3.7gr anyway as I'd prefer my 147s to run over 900fps for accuracy and grouping purposes.

So i chrono'd after the match with my load of 147g FN BB loaded with 3.7g BA 9.5 and had an average reading of 949.5 FPS netting me an average PF of 139.5

During the match I had a few rounds that got hung up in the chamber loaded at 1.125 +/- So for this next batch I'm going to drop the powder to 3.5g and adjust the OAL to 1.18 +/- and see how she goes.

    Thanks for the reply!

I'm going to trust it for the match and also bring a handful loaded up with 3.5/3.6/3.8g BA 9.5 just to see how they chrono as well.

I have some BA 9.5 I picked up two years ago, and under an ACME 147gr I needed 3.6gr just to get an avg pf of 133, which made it roughly comparable to N320 for me. Haven't really messed with it since then as I have a couple years of TG to burn through first. :P

@haiedras I'm currently traveling back down this rabbit hole and was hoping to get some feedback from you. I just shot a batch of Blue Bullet flat nose 147g bullets loaded with 3.7g of BA 9.5 and it went absolutely amazing accuracy/impulse wise. felt really soft (compared to 125g BB + 4.2g BA 9.5) concerned that it will not pass chrono or knock down heavy poppers. I will have access to chrono after the match but not before...In your opinion does this seem like a safe recipe to make minor PF??‍♂️

Has anyone used Toni system grips and been able to compare them to patriot defense grips. Been using the PD grips since they came out and like the shape of them but wearing them out and want to go aluminum.

Hello - can you please tell me where you were able to purchase these Toni System grips from? International? thanks in advance!

A year ago I asked Troy about a mag pouch that had a magnet it in and if it was legal for single stack. This was his response. Since both single stack and production say you can retain a mag by magnetic means I would say it applies to both.

Yes, that's correct.  However use of the magnet at any time will move you to Open.  It's not restricted to during the course of fire.  Ok to have it on your belt, but not ok to retain a magazine with it, period.

    Hello Troy,

A shooter and I disagreed on if magazine pouches like this are allowed in single stack. My understanding is if it has a magnet and you use it during the course of fire your in open. Is this the correct way to apply the rule?

I am aware that Appendix 5D says "Magazines may not be retained through magnetic means."

This is enough right here to confirm that I do not want to have a magnet on my belt in this division regardless of how the rules are read or interpreted by the individual. If the DNROI says no, well then it's a hard NO in my book.

Thanks to everyone for their your input!

This is a good question because it seems that somewhere in the past I read that all of the placement and pouch rules only applied to after the buzzer. For example I shoot single stack and my first pouch is questionable on location but I was told that aslong as I use that one for my make ready mag I was good.

This is exactly what i was told at my local club as well...Just want to get this sorted before shooting a major match and getting a "surprise your shooting open" talk from the MD/RO

Asking for you patience here and hoping to shed some light on an unclear (at least to me) subject...

If i use a Magnet on my belt (not attached to any mag pouches) to retain my "load and make ready" magazine, load the gun with it, eject that mag and swap it out with the magazine my last mag pouch (there are no mags on the magnet now and at any point while shooting the stage) am i still within the rules for Production?...I am being told i would be bumped to open since the COF technically starts at the "load and make ready" command and since i am then pulling a magazine from a magnet i am in violation of that rule.

I am more curious than anything - i know i don't gain any competitive advantage here, its mostly just a habit formed through dryfire and practice that id like to know if i need to change to not risk getting bumped out of my division.

This was all i could find in the rule book...

    8
    Production Division
    5.2.7.2
Each magazine must be contained individually
within the magazine pouch. Magazines may not be
    retained through magnetic means.

You ain't got nothing on me!  Ha ha.

I'm picking up a bottle of 9.5 locally. If I like it after testing I'll be buying 10 bottles.

You had good luck with 125 gr? Coated, plated, jacketed?

Yes, i had nothing but good things come from using 125g coated blue bullets and 4.2g BA 9.5 Always accurate, reliable and chrono was consistent.

I'm about to order powder for next year.

Wanted to see what's the price difference for .6 gr difference.

Comes out to about $1.50 per 1,000.

Assuming the powders cost the same.per pound.

Not even gonna worry about that.

Think I'm gonna order 10 bottles (1.1# ea) of Nobel 9.5. Worried after Jan 1 Graffs and Sons won't have the free hazmat.

Shooting 124 gr Xtremes out of Accushadow and shadow 2.

I agree, when you break it down cost wise its not even worth factoring in as a "savings" one vs the other. I can now definitely say after shooting my last few practices and most recent match with TG paired with 147g BlueBullets i miss my old recipe of 125g and Nobel 9.5.

Sometimes i just cant seem to get out of my own way when it comes to tinkering and overthinking this stuff. I'm going to switch back to the above combo indefinitely. I talked to my local reloading supplier about having a continual supply of Nobel 9.5 and he doesn't seem to think its going to be a problem any time soon.  Lesson learned!

  13. Match #13 in the books. Not perfect but definitely starting to feel a little more consistently comfortable behind the gun during a match. I need to speed it up to be competitive with the top shooters at the club though. Always a work in progress.

  14. @B_RAD just out of curiosity, what about the TG do you not like?

For me its hard to ignore the savings in using TG vs BA 9.5 at 3.6gr vs 4.2gr for the same exact load.

Even though I feel the BA 9.5 has a noticeably softer feel to it when shooting(and much easier to monitor when loading)... I think I want to experiment with some 147g using TG to see if it would feel similar...

  15. *UPDATE*

So i finally got my hands on a chrono after the match this Saturday. Below are the results i had with my current loads...

    Prima Vectan BA 9 1/2 @ 4.2 grains

    125g Blue Bullet (round nose)

    1.125 OAL

5 shot average FPS of 1039

    Average PF = 129.88

    Titegroup powder @ 3.6 grains

    125 Blue Bullet (round nose)

    1.125 OAL

    5 shot average fps 1029

    Average PF= 128.63

  16. So i just took a batch to range for some practice and loaded them as 4.3/4.4gr with same OAL and i literally couldnt feel/see the difference...The gun returns the same and seems to fire almost identical groups at 7, 15, and 25 yds as my loads that were 4.0gr.

...I just need to pony up and get a chrono

Anyone have experience using them at indoor ranges?...is that even a possibility with how far away they need to be set up to read accurately?
