  1. It does look to me like it could be removed but I have not tried so I cannot say definitively.
  2. The clicks on the adjustment screws felt outstanding to me. Very fine but very crisp. It feels solid to me and I am thinking it is going to hold zero very well -- the original DPs always held solid for me and I like the new adjustment system much better. With that said, only time will tell. After I have about 2000 rounds through it, I will feel more confident. To turn the the optic off, you hold the button for 3 seconds. Complicating all of this is that when you are pressing the button it blocks your view of the screen so you can't see the result until you pull your finger back. The button is the circle on the top of the battery door.
  3. This is a comparison between the old DP and the new DP Pro. As you can see the Pro takes up about the same amount of space on the gun but the lens has somewhat more area because the bottom of the lens is more flat on the Pro.
  4. Here is the DP Pro next to the RTS2. Obviously they are a very different shape but I am estimating that they have roughly equivalent lens area. I like the shape of the DP Pro the best as I think it maximizes lens area for the footprint it consumes on the pistol.
  5. I know my pics aren't the best. I just snapped them with my cell phone. I am hoping they are good enough that you can get a size reference. This is the new DP Pro next to an RMR. This is an awkward pic since the RMR is on a rifle. I prefer not to use RMRs on pistols as the lens size is too small for me and it is too easy for me to lose the dot. However, I love using them as a backup optic for close targets on my rifles as I never lose the dot as long as I have a cheek weld. Anyway, you can see that the DP Pro has significantly more lens area than the RMR
  6. Guys, these optics all have different shape lenses so the measurement of height and width is not going to be sufficient in really understanding the area of the lens size and how it compares to other optics. I will take a few cell phone pics side by side with other red dots and see if that helps you. I got it out to the range today and it was great. It was easy to zero. No more locking screws. Just elevation and windage adjustment that can be made with either a screwdriver or a dime. They have fine clicks that feel like a high quality ratchet. After getting it zeroed I shot between 200 and 300 rounds in a simple speed steel setup. The dot was easy to find in the large lens and it was bright enough for me on a bright sunny day. It is brighter than my RTS2 but not as bright as my RMR. It was plenty bright for me. The dot is a good size for me. It is big enough and bright enough that I had no trouble finding it but it wasn't so big that it obscured smaller targets. I did use my shot timer. My splits and transition times were at least as good as I would normally expect. I am not as fast as many on this forum but I still had fun. I really like the optic. It is my new favorite. The only nit I have is the illumination control. Most red dots I am familiar with such as the RTS2 and RMR have two buttons for controlling intensity -- one button to increase it and another button to decrease it. The DP2 has 8 illumination intensities and you select the intensity you want by using a single button to scroll through until you find the intensity you want. Out in the sun I kept scrolling past the high intensity and then had to press 8 more times to get back to it. In the future I will just always leave it on high intensity and don't plan to ever shut it off. When left switched on, it shuts the dot off after 5 minutes of inactivity and back on the second you pick it up. I am thinking that will work fine. Overall, I love it. I am buying more of them. Will post size comparison pics soon.
  7. Had it on order since January through the LE program. I don't think anyone has them in stock right now but I noticed that some retail sites indicate they expect to receive stock mid October. I don't have any special insight but I am thinking these are going to start shipping broadly in a few weeks. I live within 20 miles of Leupold. I am guessing that lots of orders went out at the same time mine did but shipping only took one day to me.
  8. I have not shot it outside so I can't report on that yet. While indoors I compared it to my RTS2 optics and the Delta Point is brighter. I can't wait to shoot it and verify brightness outdoors. With the original delta points I owned both the triangle and the dot. I sold the triangle as I did not like it but I think that is just personal preference. I like dots
  9. My first impression of the optic is really good. Things I like are. You don't have to remove the optic to change the battery You can leave it turned on all the time and after 5 min of inactivity, it shuts down and then turns back on as soon as you pick it up The lens is bigger than the old delta point. It is also bigger than my RMRs. I think it has as much lens area as my RTS2 optics but it is hard to tell for sure as they are quite different shapes The original delta points were very reliable for me even when slide mounted and I am hopeful the DP Pro will be as well. Many others don't hold up well to being slide mounted The fit and finish is great. It looks like a quality piece. I like the steel band around the outside of the optic, it looks like it will hold up well I just received it and mounted to my Glock 17 this evening so I have not had a chance to zero it or shoot it yet. I hope to get to the range in a few days.
  10. Everything I had read on the interweb said that the new pro was going to use different mounts than the original but that was not my experience. I had some old mounts sitting around for years from the original deltapoints and it seems to work perfectly. YMMV
  11. You are right of course. I just ordered more. I will have a total of 2 of the 23 rounders and 6 of the 10 rounders. Some of the 10 rounders will be cinched. It is a lot of mags to buy but you are right this is s good time to buy them. Thanks for the help Congrats! With the 15% discount.......you should get 2 of them. You'll thank me after the next big match with a 40+ round shotgun stage.
  12. Great advice guys. I called Matt at Tooth & Nail today and placed my order. And yes, I also got a 23rd mag. Looking forward to it.
  13. I know that "Best" is subjective and also occasionally provocative, but I would like to hear what everyone thinks is currently the best Open shotgun. What are the top Pros using in 3GN events for Open shotguns? What were the top finishers shooting with in Open at this year's Iron Man (wow, was that 6 slug spinners?)? If you don't think that it matters what the top pros are shooting because they shoot what their sponsor wants them to shoot, then just tell me what you think the best setup is in Open Shotgun for 3 gun and why. What brand shotgun? Tube magazine? Box mag? X-rail? What's the best setup? For the purposes of this discussion, lets say that cost is no object.
  14. Kurt, based on your comment am I correct that you only run titanium firing pins now? What is your favorite brand? thanks
  15. If I remember correctly I think they ask for $1k as a deposit when you place your order. I don't know what the current back log is but I assume you would have at least 6 to 9 months to save for the balance.
  16. Landon, it was amazing to watch you shoot that Infinity. You were a machine. I only wish I could shoot it the way you did. It is certainly a lot of money but I do not regret it.
  17. Will any of the 2015 3 Gun Nation rule changes carry over to Iron Man. For example I think the Limited class is now called Factory and has a 15 round mag limit regardless of caliber. I am thinking that these changes will not have any bearing on the Iron Man match but wanted to verify.
  18. Thank you. Yes, I did see that one. I was just looking for more reviews than just that one before committing to the new trigger. It is probably one of those things that you just have to try for yourself. Maybe I can squeeze one at SHOT
  19. I have not been able to find any good reviews of the new JP Revolution trigger. Has anyone here tried it? http://www.jprifles.com/1.4.8.4_roller.php GENERAL Armageddon Gear Revolution TriggerOne of the common trigger control issues that causes inconsistencies for the precision shooter is lateral force applied to the trigger upon release. Instead of the straight-back, linear release that would be optimal, this lateral force results in a certain degree of horizontal dispersion or the "pulled shots." So, when our friend Tom Fuller from Armageddon Gear approached us with his "roller trigger" idea, we saw the merit immediately and knew we needed to incorporate it into our AR fire control system. Attached to a modified version of our own trigger design with its improved sear geometry, the free-spinning roller of the Revolution Trigger auto-corrects for innate trigger control error by allowing your trigger finger to roll to a neutral position. Once you try it, you'll see exactly what we mean and why this is the future of trigger control. In addition to new rifle builds, the Revolution roller trigger option is available in two forms. The EZ trigger package is our standard full match kit including the entire array of our fire control components along with the new roller trigger. Alternately, the Roller Trigger Replacement Kit includes the trigger and our best-selling fire control springs to allow easy replacement of the trigger in a standard M4 carbine with no adjustments needed. 20. I love the wide open nature of the rules at Crimson Trace. It is one of the things that makes this match special and different. IMO divisions would be a step backward.
  21. Yes, I think you are right it is the 5199. Thank you I should have figured that out. In the Safariland picture it does look like it is stitched, I just have not noticed that before. It says it is SafariLaminate construction.
  22. This is a pic of Ravin Perry's holster and I saw a few others in 3 Gun Nation that appear to be using the same holster. I was just assuming everyone was using kydex holsters and at first glance I thought this was a kydex holster but I see what I think is stitching and I am wondering if this is a formed leather holster and who makes it? I just got a black Infinity pistol and the black finish is being worn off on the trigger guard by the kydex holster. I am wondering if this leather holster would be the solution that would not wear my pistol finish? Or maybe my old eyes are failing me and it is just kydex? School me.
  23. I have had the Safariland 3Gun bag for just under a year and a couple of the seams have tore out. I have used it regularly for matches throughout the year in which it received heavy use. I also used it at the MGM match this year and from my limited experience as a newbie, that match seems to be hard on both gear and shooter. I sent my bag back to Safariland and they asked me 3 separate times to provide proof of purchase and I did provide that each time they asked even though I ordered the bag directly from them and had already included my Safariland order number in every e-mail exchange. The last time they asked for my proof of purchase they said "it is very dirty and quite worn". They did finally agree to replace my bag but indicated that they don't have any in stock so I will have to wait for a replacement. In the meantime my buddy will be carrying my shotgun in his Brownell's 3 gun case which has attended all the same matches and is holding up much better.
