  1. Isn't it kinda late for that? Was there an issue? Scores are posted here: BCCC I think he's kidding. He probably means he's going to review his own scores. I should probably review my own while we're at it. The only question I had was I noticed that the blind house had times listed in the results. I thought it was a par time stage. The scoring program won't allow a zero time, so they used 50. Works out the same, just inflates total time.
  2. Isn't it kinda late for that? Was there an issue? Scores are posted here: BCCC Mike, Congrats! on your DC win. Dick Thanks! It was tough conditions, and we were all pretty close. I was fortunate to have a smooth run on the ports. That's what did Chris in.

  4. Farm and Fleet just had Blazer on sale for $7.00/box, which is much cheaper than Natchez. We call the store manger and order as many cases as we want and they usually leave it on the pallet for us, and forklift it right into the truck. You can call the corporate buyer in Sporting Goods, his name is Andy, at times when ammo is not on sale and he can usually make a deal on bulk quantities, and then send it to the store where you can avoid shipping charges. They expect a price increase at the end of the month, so now would be a good time. We were also able to pick up 20,000 rounds of Winchester White Box at Bass Pro Shops for $13.49/100 last week on a raincheck Julie had. I think they lost money on that deal. And it's brass! Gander will also match other stores prices, we used this last year for .40 S&W. Bass Pro had it on sale but they were out, drove to Kenosha and picked up 10,000 at Gander, they were forced to price match because they were less than 50 miles away... They ended up dropping their price over $10.00/box/hundred.
  5. Unless there is a revolver involved! I think driving would still be better, don't they make you check your gun? I think Craig relayed that story to me once.
  6. Whirlwind IDPA weekend: My friend Craig Dilley and I piled into my car for the trip to Romulus, MI for their state match. After having to suffer through 2 hours of traffic in Chicago, we finally managed to make it to Romulus in time to buy some Bud and hit the motel. What was supposed to be a 6 hours trip took 8 hours. The match was 10 challenging stages (2 of which I wish I could have back!) We were squadded with some excellent shooters and had a blast. The semi stage was very creative, and the bed stage had some fantastic artwork. The head shot stage was extremely challenging and helped sort out who the most patient shooters were. Lunch was fantastic also. Craig managed to lose the latch for his 2.5" Model 19 but someone at the range was nice enough to loan him a replacement part, and the missing part was later found in the gravel. After checking the scores it was back into the car for another 8 hour drive, this time to the Midwest Regional in Havana, IL. The match there on Sunday was equally challenging, and we were fortunate enough to squad with Robert Vogel, Steve Moneypenny and Chris Martin. All three are extremely talented and classy shooters. It really forced us to kick our games up a notch. The stages there were more about speed shooting, but the standards stage humbled a few people. Congrats to Robert Vogel on the SSP/HOA win in Havana. Craig managed to take his class in Havana despite his truncated barrel and Steve Moneypenny took the ESP honors, Chris Martin CDP, and Perry Stevens took ESR. My 3 stage wins in MI gave me a slim lead to take SSP/HOA there. 6 hours later we were back in Wisconsin to celebrate the Packer victory. The match staff and SO's were great at both matches. After helping with the WI match for the last 4 years it was nice to sit back and just SHOOT!
  7. I'm kind of surprised by this, as he moved a shooter on our squad from Production to Open at the Nats last year because he had grip tape on his slide...Grip tape is supposed to be for the Grips only...
  8. Yes, Craig finally came over to the dark side and joined the club. The competitors were all gracious and polite. The few times I was called for issues they accepted the final decision without question. The SO's this year were also fantastic. Many of them are capable of working a Nationals Level match. Kudos to Tom Mainus, who I think had the hardest job of all, putting all that junk away at the end! Scores are posted here: Schultz Gun Club
  9. Last year we had a 2 day training class with Manny Bragg in the Milwaukee area. The class was on the Thursday-Friday before Area 5. We then shot together as a squad at Area 5. This class was not publicized because it was full. This year we are running a similar class, but we are adding Ted Puente as a second instructor. For those of you who don't know Ted, he just came in second at the L10 Nationals in Montana. The class will be no more than 8 people, divided into two groups of 4. Each group will work with one of the instructors on Thursday, then the 2 groups will switch on Friday and you will work with the other instructor. Manny will be working on stage breakdowns/analysis, and Ted will be working on precision trigger control, transitions and other fundamentals. After the class we will go to Area 5 and again shoot as a squad. We had a couple of people drop out of the class at the last minute, so we have 2 spots open. The cost for the class is $400.00, which includes the range fees and targets/pasters, etc. It does not include your match entry fee or lunch. Round count will be somewhere around 1200, but bring extra, as there is always extra shooting opportunities at these types of classes. You can take the class even if you are not shooting Area 5. Due to the level of the class, we will not be able to accept new shooters. If you are interested please e-mail me mike@wilnet.net or send me a PM.
  10. Heard that too... A production shooter to start with his/her barney round mag, a simple mental mistake that can ruin your whole match... Oh well. Almost did that myself on stage 8... Caught it at the last minute. One guy on our squad got moved to Open for having grip tape on the front of his slide. Overall this is a farily difficult match for us production guys. Ted is doing ok, but having trouble with trying to balance his speed and accuracy. I see him placing top 16...
  11. Jake had a squib. We were there for Voight's DQ, very unfortunate. Stage 14, he drew and hit the sill of the port and his gun tumbled right through the port and landed on the other side...
  12. I looked at the pic on your site and it doesn't look the same. I also have one that is 3-4 years old that came from someone else that makes holsters and he called it the same thing.
  13. Craig, Thanks for sponsoring and shooting the match. I mailed your trophy yesterday.
  14. The match is approaching quickly and everything is falling into place. Our afternoon flight is nearly full. There is still plenty of room in the morning shoot. There will be a fantastic prize table this year. We will be giving away 5-6 guns, one to a lucky SO. We still need qualified staff. Why should you work? Awesome prize table Chance to win a gun (I estimate approx. 1 in 20 chance for an SO to win a gun) Chance to shoot in a relaxed format on Friday evening, or just shoot 1/2 day with everyone else and work the other half.
