  1. It worked so well for Japan partially because Detroit was arrogant & lazy, I'm not sure that describes STI. and because union labor costs 10X what japanese labor does... STI won't lose the market to any of the niche builders any time soon. The STI aluminum grip is less than $300.00 everyone elses is more. The STI frames are right about the same price as any of the alternatives. You buy an Edge or Eagle or Trojan and have issues you send it back and they fix it. Your slide cracks after a couple years and the fix it, then they re-finish the gun and tune it up. You get an almost new gun out of the deal for FREE... These new start up type guys probably have not even thought about building up warranty reserves. STI has had a fe QC problems lately but they are standing behind everything they have ever sold. Having to deal with very picky customers will be fun for the start up guys... My gun rattles... did you shoot it? No, it rattles... Is it broken? No, it rattles... OK, send it back... we will pay the freight both ways and take a look at it... Sorry for being so picky. I should just lower my expectations ... The chamber is what conserned THEM the most, and they ask me to send it back. I did not want to shoot it with that chamber. So a rattly slide, mechining marks all over, groves in the chamber on a $2200 gun and I can't complain. When can I start bitching good Sir...$3500...$4500. please tell me.
  2. yes, see post #48 I sent it back on July 12th, have not heard from them yet. Cosmetics are one thing...but did you see that chamber? I have looked at 13 Edges at matches sence, and all have no rings like mine.
  3. Patent https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/pdfs/USD347256.pdf Document says its good for 14 years started in 1994 so it was up in 2008? Or can you extend patents?
  4. Gun is on its way to STI, (they sent a prepaid label) I will keep you guys updated. Yes I agree if the clones come out and their good...it will be a hard deal for STI. When Glock came out they had the polymer frames on lock...but their getting hurt big time by all the others, M&P, XD ect. It was so bad they went to the gen 4 to try to offer the same options as the others.
  5. I bought it from Oak Hill. Sucks to send a gun back without even shooting it...
  6. STI is sending me a RMA. With 4 mags, holster, exd. Floor plates, ice mag well, mag release button etc. I got a lot of money tied up in this gun. I hope it turns out great. Video, you can SEE the movement and hear it.
  7. Does your chambers look as bad as mine? I've had some that had a couple rings that I could feel with a super small dental pick...but not with a toothpick like this one. I just never had a pistol with such glaring file marks. Is this what hand fitting looks like? Keep in mind I'm not a 1911 guy. But this pistol and its magazines, looks kinda like a kit car in build quality. Also the slide stop has what looks like a mold flashing on it? Are these MIM parts? The outside looks great buy the way. Trigger is sweet. Im going to shoot it Thursday, and run the 3 140mm mags i got with it. Thanks for all your help.
  8. I kinda bought it for looks...my Glock 34 goes bang every time x8000 no failures....and has a nicer machined parts. Just kind let down guys. Like saving up and buying a new car with dents all over it and people telling me "it still drives don't it?"
  9. +1 my Sig tacops is a hell of a deal for $950
  10. I have been wanting and saving for this pistol for a long time. I have a Sig 1911 tacops that cost $950 and a bunch of Glocks and the fit and finish look 100 times better than this "hand fitted" pistol. The Sig and Glocks look like they where made with the best CNC machines on earth and this STI looks like... it was made by a drunk guy by hand. The gun has not been shot. frame rattles on the slide nicks in the slide very rough chamber (you can feel the rings with a WOOD TOOTHPICK!) ring groves in the slide and one on the frame end. Its hard to take pictures of, but all the groves you can feel with your fingernail Click on First picture it is a video, turn the sound up. http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/yy263/finbox/Crappy%20New%20STI%20EDGE/035_zpsf5f04c34.jpg http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/yy263/finbox/th_IMG_0197_zps2db3d139.jpg
