I took a class from a VERY well known shooter and he stressed feeling the reset. I watched a video of Rob Leathem and he is slapping the living hell out of the trigger. I am not going to win anything, but want to get better. Is there any consensus on what's best? I realize a lot has to do with what kind of trigger you have.

I am on robs side. if you are using a proper grip, it doesn't matter how hard you are ripping that trigger...something often overlooked in handgun sports because people run an extremely light and tuned trigger and don't do enough grip work.

fine trigger control should only come into play with significant muscle fatigue...which in all honesty should be an issue in a handgun ONLY sport.

  2. an autoloader for trap? whats the world coming to??!?

I can see local doubles, or bunker...but even in real competition that's a no bueno

Most safariland stuff is actually geared toward the old line of Docter optics. And often need a little bit of opening with a Dremel and a sanding drum anyway.

What gun/optic do you have? You might have some options

Glock 17, with milled burris fastfire 3..(carver is about to melt it in)..and suppressor sights because I still carry it on occasion. No weapon light.

i am used to having to work on a safariland. I only use fiber optic sights, even on a duty gun..so I'm used to having to cut my clearance. I am concerned I would have to remove too much for suppressor sights, rendering the locking mechanism useless

Safariland has just released a whole new line of optic-compatible holsters. There are also a variety of other similar ones that will likely work as long as you're using a common (i.e. Glock) platform.

Yes, but I am not using a trijicon. All of safarilands stuff is geared towards the rmr and doesn't guarantee it will fit other mini red dots.

The window on the trijicon is too small for my liking.

After seeing someone get DQ'ed when their rifle sling caught the butt of their pistol and lifted it up and out of the holster, I went out and got a Safariland ALS holster for my 3-gun pistol. I like having the retention and the added delay for depressing the button is negligible. Only about .2 seconds. It certainly won't make a difference in my rankings ;)

I carry a 6360 als on duty, and would love to use one...but won't clear the optics

What reason are you conflicted? Just brands?

just seems like too many companies are selling stuff really similar to each other. also, since carry optics is pretty new I don't know what people are using.

meh. there are plenty of hi-cap divisions to shoot. I really like the 10-round production rule because it allows a variety of manufacturers, models, (and even calibers), instead of being *only* a handful of super-hi-cap 9mm guns. LEO's can shoot their 40 or 45 duty guns (and I know some that do). Probably a 15-round limit would be more newb-friendly (fewer mag pouches and magazines to buy), but all in all, you have to admit that production (and now CO) are the only divisions where you really see people being competitive with a variety of equipment.

I agree, but I also agree that a glock 19, which is designed to carry 15 rounds in its production form should be allowed to carry 15 rounds...if it is a production gun, it should be allowed to be used as the factory intended it.

I don't shoot an xdm, but know that a factory xdm mag holds 19 rounds..does that put me at a disadvantage if I am shooting a glock? maybe, but I could always by a factory gun to compete more evenly if I choose.

nothing will ever get me to agree with mag capacity limits in competition shooting. I understand everything else, unless it comes to minor/major, and mag capacity. its something that has quietly irritated me for a better part of a decade.

    ARGH

In the middle of putting in a CGW kit in my CZ Phantom last night, when I launched the DC lift spring.  Dang.  Ordered some replacements, will resume when they come in.

    -_-

I have a recliner that is filled with about $80 worth of glock 6lb trigger springs, and reduced power safety springs....one day I will salvage them!

  9. i sold all of my reloading equipment a while back due to plans of getting new stuff....I know this was stupid..

do yall have experience with freedom munitions? they are apparently pretty local to me, and i can buy in bulk...im shooting carry optics, so i don't need to worry about power factors..

    Favorite - I guess 1.1.5 Freestyle

Least favorite - 10 round limit in Production

this is my 2nd most hated rule.

i live in whats suppose to be a free country. i shouldn't have to punished due to socialist states.

  11. minor/major!

I think power factors are completely stupid!

i use to shoot major limited, and sometimes major limited...but only because i have to in order to be competitive..it shouldn't exist..i understand you regret buying your .40, i know i do

that's why upon my triumphant return, i am only shooting production and carry optics, because of no minor/major.

it wasn't always like that right?

"Grip modifications such as, but not limited to, undercutting/smoothing the trigger guard, adding or removing finger grooves, or adding stippling, grip tape, or checkering are specifically allowed, without reference to Appendix E4"

"But not limited to" makes me think you can do whatever you want?

And "without reference to E4" would mean you could stipple all over the place?

    that's why I wasn't sure at first.

No more requirement to keep the factory grip profile. Go crazy as long as you don't flare the magwell.

yeah, im just shooting these days for the hell of it. not looking to get sponsored anymore...just gonna rock it like I carry it, and have no need for the magwell.
