Welcome to the forum! what part of orygun?
-
What I see almost as bad as the hot reholstering is the pistol tossing into five gallon buckets.
Who knows where the barrel is pointing when they hit the bottom.
-
I have shot matches with both scoring types , the nice part about total time scoring
is that it's very easy to keep track of your score and the other competitors. to know who's ahead.
-
Wideners has mixed military .308 brass $50 / 500pcs
the primer pockets will need swaged to remove crimp.
-
Nick you want to cut the slots the same as the M2 to allow more flex which makes less resistance
pushing shells past It.
Or you could just buy the M2 latch it is the same dimensions as the M1.
-
Or snap off the little #4 screw that holds the lever.
-
You have the standard M1 part. The M2 comes with the slots.
Just be careful you don't cut the slots too deep.

the couple times I've seen it.. is using a 9mm carbine for the really close stages, then a 223 for longer stages
Why would someone want to use a slower carbine for the close fast stages?
recoil? the 9mm ARs I have seen are fast and very easy to control.
The reciprocating mass of the heavy buffer and carrier in the 9mm move the gun more.

How many matches besides The Colt Competition North West Multi Gun Challenge sends out a survey (survey monkey) ?
-
I would think not , based on the amount of time that goes into the planing and execution of a major match
and then you have to get twice the donations for the prize table.
-
That's a great point Paul about poppers going out of adjustment
Still unsure why the match director used a shotgun to check calibration when the shooter used a pistol
Common sense should dictate that the target be checked with the type of firearm that was used by the shooter
And if a 9mm factory round won't make the target fall you should not be able too say its a pistol option target.
-
So which gun would you prefer using on a 4" KO plate at 18-20yds?
I encourage you to do some testing from a low ready with both shotgun and pistol.
-
I don't understand why you would use a shotgun to check calibration.
unless the target was small and far away thus giving the power factor advantage the pistol.
-
I think the optional steel is great but.......... it all depends on how many big or small the targets there are and the distance they are placed.
The stage designer has to make some of the targets in each array a challenging shot with both guns.
-
Don't know the screw size, but the reason they will shear is the screws loosen and the rear sight hammers back and forth under fire on the tiny screws
until they finally shear off.
-
Verified the two long range rifles. Three shooters and all were within an inch at 200. The plates are, well, big.
Not only are those long range flash targets huge but they very easy to see without a weapon light.
The colored lighting on the stages is incredible too see, and the stages are fast and really fun!
Can't wait to get back out there tonight .

I too had noticed a loss of accuracy with my STI edge 9mm (2005 model)
So I used a low round count ( 2012 model) STI edge to compare groups with the same ammo using Montana gold bullets
and tite group powder.
Both guns have original STI barrels, the group size was very apparent the
barrel was worn out .
The older gun could barely hit a 9' paper plate at 25 yds benched.
and the newer gun shot 2" groups.
I replaced the barrel with a KKM and it now shoots small groups with the same ammo.

The Brownells case is very nicely constructed well worth the money, and I can fit my Beneli M1 with a 13rd tube.
It's really tight but will zip up .
-
The Hi-Viz tri-comp sight is very popular and is the correct height for slugs.
-
I used to wear 5.11's but was less than happy with the short life span of them.
Then when Vertx pants came out I switched , they are very well made
and even survived a launch off the slide at MGM iron man where I skidded on my
butt for ten feet in the gravel and not a mark on the pants!
-
CJW if the threads are really messed up like you say, it is possible for the die to not catch the correct thread engagement
when you start it. Be careful
-
Yes that's correct, it may seem silly but that is the standard for 95% of the matches out there.

We use the T-50 staplers as well.
A word of advise though use ARROW brand staples only !
we tried Stanley staples and they turned into jam-o-matics.

Take a look at Safari land M1A mag pouches , I just picked up a couple for my P mags , the fit is great.
Just add a ELS fork or Blade tech Tek-Lok or TMMS.
