  1. I called Dillon about problem 1... as a preventive measure, the rep suggested adding some grease under the bridge (station 1 locator) to work as a shock absorber. Can't hurt.

I had a 650 about 10-12 years ago back in England. I am sure that there used to be a small spring under that bridge. Or perhaps my imagination is playing tricks on me. When the case feed slid the case down the bridge the spring would compress and as the feeder retracted (as the plate rose), the ramp would rise up and the lip on the end would rise above the case rim and keep it in the slot on the shell plate...

Did Dillon used to have a spring there or am I going nuts ? If they had one, why was it removed, if not then why don't they add one. It would solve the problem permanently.

just checked my dillon manual. no spring. great idea though...

You are correct there is a spring under the bridge on the older models.

I have two 650's one is a 2000 with out the spring and the other is a 1993 with the spring.

I didn't quite understand why the spring under the bridge was dropped.

the bridge on the 2000 model came from the factory with grease under it instead of the spring,

I guess the grease is cheaper than the spring.

No problems with either press to speak of, both run well.

  2. I still fail to see anyones specific reasons on why more than one scoring system is a problem or disadvantage.

Is it to hard to keep straight which match or scoring system you are shooting that day?

How hard is it to understand the difference between 2 holes V.S. 2 A's with points down for C's and D's

As long as you read the rules before you get there there shouldn't be a problem.

The only disadvantages would be as Chuck already mentioned with extra time to score the targets

and slightly longer raw times for the shooter.

I currently shoot 4 different matches on a monthly basis that all have a different scoring system.

Personally I like the challenge of shooting at the "A" zone V.S. the fun factor of blazing two holes at a large piece of brown cardboard

which I feel is all about speed and very little accuracy, especially on a rifle stage in a small bay.

I think the Horner system will bring back the close range target accuracy.

The next match to use this scoring system will be the R & R Racing Multi-gun in Albany,OR .

  3. Will we need to bring slings for long guns ???

DC - You won't need slings , there will be staging/grounding boxes on all the stages

and the stages are posted at RandRracingonline.com

Robert also mentioned that all the rifle steel will be the new plate rack style 10" targets

    with the white backers.

These targets solve all the problems (visibility, calling hits, etc.) associated with long range steel targets.

  4. I also had this same problem . The easy fix is to very slightly back off the rear set screw

the rear set screw sets the hammer and sear engagement depth.

If any debris gets under the rear screw, it will reduce the amount of sear engagement.

This adjustment will also increase your take up travel as well.

  5. Blockhead- I had the same gun and scope with the YHM rail and Leupold QRW rings.

Forget about the YHM mount , I could not get my shots to stop moving in the elevation

direction . I took the YHM rail off to verify the problem and the verticle stringing

problem ceased. I could not tighten it enough to stop it from moving.

You get what you pay for. Go with the larue one piece mount and you won't look back.

  6. We would like to say THANK YOU!! to Blane,JJ,Denise,Steve and staff for putting on a fun and challenging match.

And also the RO's too, you guys were very professional, courteous, enthousiastic and

not to mention helpful. Please come back next year!

We had the best bunch of helpful and supportive people in our large squad (16), like match sponsors Sabre Defence, and every division represented, as well as 4 ladys.

I hope to squad with you all again soon, Thanks again :D

The stage designs were a good mix, although I would like to see more multi-gun stages (only2 this year) and greater distance on a couple of rifle stages (300yd.+).

    Our favorite stages were #2,5,6.

Stage 3 (pistol) was a major adrenaline rush before we even started shooting Friday

    morning,

I was standing at the back of our squad during the stage briefing, when I heard

this deer running full speed from behind up the narrow creek bed, as I turned to face the deer there was a large mountain lion was chasing it. The cat went up the left bank and the deer had me dead in his sights on a full out run when it turned within ten feet of me

and leaped up the right bank. :o

Needless to say, we were all watching the banks above us until we left the stage. :(

See you in 07, Craig & Heidi

  7. I use different types depending on the type of match or stage designs.

For multi gun matches such as the Iron man and tactical style matches

where there is alot of prone position shooting or props that can unseat

your mags if you have to get close to them. I prefer pouches such as

the ones made by 3-gun gear or blade tech , both have excelent retention

and are easy to take on and off.

If it's a pistol only stage or a muti-gun without prone position shooting

I prefer to have the safariland 771 pouches on the front of my belt

just like I use for uspsa limited pistol matches.

The only problem when you switch positions on your belt you might

forget that there are not where you remember them, and reach

for the old location on your belt ooops :o

    Craig

  8. I use blade-tech with tech-lok for belt mounted mags as I like to position the mag

behind my left hip (this works well for prone). these can also be adjusted for any

    angle you like.

If I need more than one extra mag for a stage then I use 3-gun gear

thigh mount double mag t-rig . It is very comfortable, easy on-off

and can accomidate pistol mags as well.

The mag pouch can be removed to be used on your belt also.

this is a high quality product well worth the price.

You can buy the double mag pouch first then add the t-rig latter

    if cost is a factor.

Reload speed is about the same with either.

Call mark at 3-gun gear if have any questions.
