No, I can not lock back the bolt. With the Glock mag lower I do not have any problems seating fully loaded mags. Now if this was on my Colt rig, might be a different story. I am going to run it for a bit and see what I think after I have a chance to shoot it in a match or two. So far, I like the recoil impulse better then the standard bolt stroke.

Getting a mag splice/extension will allow you to down load to say 40 rounds...or more depending on the extension....and that will help mitigate the lose of rounds in mag.
I use a 32 spliced with a 10 rounder using the Taccom spice. This gives me 45 max load so if I have to do a reload I start with a 32 rounder downloaded and then slap in the big stick.

Yes....I have two rigs based on Colt lowers and one on a Glock. I like how the Colt guns “feel”. But the Glock rig reloads much easier and faster than the Colt rigs do.
I try and look up the classifier for the match I will be shooting and if it has a mandatory reload, I take the Glock rig.

I recently removed the weight and shortened the stroke on one of my PCC. Info here:
I it runs great so far. I will be using it in a match this weekend.

It's the Zulu from Odin Zulu 2.0 Adjustable Stock Kit
So looking at their website, it says it comes with a secondary buffer system. It looks like that screws onto the back of the buffer tube. I run Blitzkrieg Buffers in my rigs and not sure that would work well.
Anyone know if their buffer gizmo can be removed?

Good price.

I would assume Big, that a reduction in rearward movement of the bolt would, or should, reduce the time the gun cycles per trigger pull. Am I correct?
And further more, a faster cycle time could, or should, mean better split times. Also correct?
That is the idea. I was able to remove 1 1/4"+ from the bolt travel.
It feels a bit more "snappy", but the dot really stays on target when running the trigger as fast as I can...which aint all that fast.
I like to tinker, and this project was something I wanted to play with so I did it. I really like the results so I will keep the rig this way and see how it does over the long haul. I am hoping to make a match this weekend and put it through it's paces.

I forgot to mention that when playing around with a spacer solution, I started with washers to dial in the perfect bolt stroke. And while this worked well for a spacer...it also pre-loaded the recoil spring and made the rig dip due to the very strong return to battery of the bolt.
The cut down buffer does not load the spring and does not add much weight either.

Fortis makes a nice looking brake: https://www.rainierarms.com/fortis-muzzle-brake-9mm-nitride/?nosto=nosto-page-product1

What did you use to cut down the mil spec buffer?
Just a cheap tubing cutter. You can get them at pretty much any hardware store for under $10.00.

Just to clarify, JP AR15 rifle spring with or without weight installed in the end?
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkJP AR-15 (.223) rifle length spring with the weight in the bolt removed.
As I mentioned above, this is with the Taccom ULW upper. If you are running a longer barrel, you might need more weight to keep the bolt closed longer. I inspect the brass to make sure I am not getting bulged, split, etc., cases. That is a good indication of too light of a bolt, and/or buffer and spring combo.

Well...when things are going good...working great...etc., I just can't leave well enough alone.
So today I set up my PCC rig....Taccom ULW upper, Taccom bolt, QC10 Glock lower, Hyperfire Eclipse, Blitzkrieg hydro buffer, etc....with a shortened bolt stroke.
I used a standard IPSC target at 25 yards to determine what worked best based on double taps as quickly as I could work the trigger.
The cut down mil-spec buffer allows for the bolt to just reset the trigger, but no more travel. This shortens the bolt stroke by 1.325" in my rig.
I started with a JP .308 carbine spring and the weight in the bolt. It would not reset the trigger reliably.
So out came the bolt weight. With the .308 carbine spring, it felt kinda "harsh" but ran fine.
Next I tried a AR-15 (.223) extra power carbine spring. I got a bit of dot wobble.
Settled on a JP AR-15 rifle spring. This gives me very nice double taps at 25 yards and a smooth, flat feeling recoil impulse. Dot just stays on target if I do my part. I ran 150+ rounds through it with zero problems.
Just thought I would share as folks have asked about the bolt weight, etc. Oh...I am running WWB 115gr ammo.
Just an added note, I can not use the bolt catch with this setup, but that is not a big deal for me.

Thanks. Nine came from SC as well with no spring, but I did order Wolf extra power springs and it did not help. Thanks again.

Granted I am not running Glock mags, I agree with the TF +10s for Colt style mags. I have one and it runs fine. Zero hiccups and very clean looking.
Chris
Hi Chris.
What brand of Colt mags are you using? I tried to get the TF to work with my ASC mags, and they are a no go. Turns them into salt shakers.

The current JP bolt does not have a removable weight....but it is still heavier then the bolts with removable weight removed. The hole in the JP bolt is much smaller, basicly that is where they “hide” their weight.
I was/am planning on doing a 9mm bolt review but my camera decided not to cooperate. I have the “first gen” JP, the current JP, a QC10, and a Taccom bolt.

Taccom makes some light weight parts for the MPX:

Plastic? As in the mag body?
The TF and MBX extensions are made from machined aluminum, so doubt they will break. Plus if you have to drop a 40+ round magazine, something went wrong on your stage planning IMHO.

Shot with a buddy today in a USPSA match and his ran flawlessly. As did the JP GMR-15 and my Taccom based rig.
Did not hear his “singing” and I was RO’ing a couple of stages so I was right next to it.
Have not seen the bolt, so can not comment if it has FA serrations on it. Not sure I would want to force a round into battery on a blow back Gun.
They are really nice rigs. I would bet you would be every happy with it.

I have one and it runs fine. I also just installed a MBX “mini” (47 rounds) and shot it in a USPSA match today. Ran flawlessly as well.
many options out there...a good thing.

7 pounds, 5 ounces with sight - not too heavy at all.
Not saying it is "too heavy", but when compared to my Taccom rig that weighs less then 5 1/2 lbs, I much prefer the faster handling of my Taccom rigs (I have two).
Again, the Nodic is a VERY nice rig for sure.

One thing you can do/try. If you don’t use the buffer retention pin, you can back the buffer tube out 2-3 turns and this will give you a bit more reward travel of the buffer and make it easier to lock pack the bolt.

Good to hear Barry.
We have quite a few folks here at our local club who run the BK and .308 JP spring setup in their PCC rigs and all really like the way their rigs shoot.
You report is very simular to other folks...including myself...who have went this route.
I am thinking of putting yet another PCC rig together and will be using the BK/JP .308 setup.
good luck on your next match.

Kinda surprised this gun is not getting more traction. Mine runs >> flawlessly << and is very accurate. As far as I'm concerned, this is the nicest out of the box PCC available and at a good price for the high quality. You really don't need to do anything but put a sight on it and go shoot.
Cost would be one thing. And for me, the weight of the rig. We have a gent here at our local club that has one. But then he handled one of my Taccom rigs and put a rig together based on the Taccom upper.
I have a JP GMR-13 which is in the same price range of the Nordic. But it sits in my safe because I much prefer the light weight and fast handling Taccom rigs I own.
Nordic make good stuff and this PCC rig is no exception. Enjoy them and shoot straight straight....and fast!

I have two Colt pattern rigs. One is based on a QC10. Fit and finish is very good. Runs perfect.
The other is an old C3 Defense billet lower with a dedicated Hahn mag block. This is my favorite rig. It runs perfect as well.
My third rig also uses a QC10 Glock lower. So as you can see...I am partial to QC10 for a PCC specific lower. I like tat there is some aftermarket support such as mag wells, extended mag release, etc.
Good luck on build.
