I have looked for pics of ta-11s on m14s and havn't been able to find any. it's driving me crazy. if anybody can find one I would appreciate it.
  3. Sure, until it cracks. How long will that take, who knows, it will happen faster than with steel. Also you will probably have erosion problems as well. Stick with steel.

Coulter6, thanks for the pic, does it set alot higher than the other scope that was on it? I have an arms mount that sets much lower and that might help.

Yeah, I've been through that, I have a homemade cheek peice that is held on with electrical tape, no style points but functional. I currently have a 10X mil dot on top and would like a little faster sight. It is a tack driver.
  6. Has anybody out there ever put a ta11 on an m1a, How does it feel, are there problems with eye relief or ejection, does the combo work well together?
  7. Platinum, I had one of those too, It either seemed to work or not work, I couldn't tell much difference if the gun was tuned for 100% reliability. If you took to much gas away, the gun got softer but reliability suffered. For a 16' gas system the pigtail makes it act like a 20' gun with similiar cycling except you have more pressure to run your comp in the shorter barrel. Also when installing the pigtail you are advised to drill the gas port open to allow more flow, mine may be drilled a little small for factory loads but this lets you adjust the flow. You could use both and you might really have somthing neat.
  8. Platinum, I have a 16' dissipator upper with a pigtail and Micluk comp and the short answer is yes, they slow the function to the bolt. The long answer is that they really slow the bolt down, at least in my rifle. Factory 55 gr loads are kinda soft and I get some muzzle rise with them due to how slow it functions, however when I shoot my favorite load of a horn. 68 gr bullet at 2900 fps and a full case of slowish ball powder the gun is very flat and soft. The addition of the pigtail makes the gun feel like a full length AR and is a huge improvement over a standard length carbine gas system with the hot loads.
