@Redhemi I also think it may have something to do with the mag release spring at this point. That Eeman Tech mag release sounds interesting, I've had a few injuries/surgeries on my thumb and the mag release is not as easy to depress as it used to be. That being said, none of my other 75 variants seem to give me this same issue. Here are some better pics of the magazines and the wear they are currently showing.

The Mecgars in question

Ok so I've been reading about this on here on and off for an hour or so and have been tinkering with some of my 75 variants but I can't figure this out. I have one SP01 that just does not like my Mecgar mags. It's very sluggish ejecting them with the slide forward, but when the slide is locked to the rear it will not eject the magazines at all and they need to be stripped from the gun. I changed the mag brake on this gun recently because it didn't want to drop any mags free. The OEM one I removed is pictured on the left and the replacement one I used is on the right (I'm hoping it's not the issue, got it from Stoeger's shop, here is a link.) It now works fine with my CZ OEM mags, but it just does not like the Mecgars. I saw @rowdyb suggesting in another thread that you could do some sanding on the inside of the grip to allow for the larger dimensions of the Mecgars but that sounds like a last resort to me. Is there any chance my magazine release spring could be causing this? One other thing worth mentioning, even though this gun now releases the OEM magazines consistently, they seem to eject with much less power compared to other 75 variants I own. I'm trying to learn to work on these things myself so please don't be scared to educate me on what should be the obvious... I've included pics of all the relevant parts: the mags, the magazine brake and the magazine release spring from a couple different angles. What distances are you guys zeroing at with CZ 75 pattern pistols equipped with Trijicon 1911 RMR plates (what Cajun Gun Works uses on non-Shadow models)? I've been experiencing what seems like pronounced vertical stringing ever since cutting a P01 and SP01 for Trijicon RMR plates with CGW. The plates are cut into the slide at a downward angle out of necessity according to CGW and I'm just wondering how the angle, height over bore and other factors ultimately effect POA vs. POI at different distances. The other week I swapped the RMR on my P01 for an SRO and it seemed to intensify the vertical deviation relative to the pics I'm posting here. Unfortunately I didn't take pictures after shooting a similar target with SRO on the P01 but I will likely remount the SRO and document the results. The target pictured was shot with my P-01 with an RMR, zeroed at 10 yards. The 5/10/15/20/25y dots were shot with the base of the pistol supported on a shooting bag which was resting on a tripod. Forgive the crude "drawings," they are far from precise and are just intended to give an idea of what I am referring to. At this point I'm considering just zeroing at a further distance, maybe 15-25 yards. That being said, I have quite a few other non-CZ pistols equipped with red dots that are also zeroed at 10 yards and they seem to have less vertical stringing at the same distances. They're also direct mount for the most part and don't sit at a pronounced angle like the Trijicon RMR plate on the CZ does. Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

I really like Stipp Grips. The gentleman who owns and operates the company, Jonathan Ramos, offers quality work with relatively quick turnaround times (less than a month). So the response time is infinitely better when you DON'T attach a couple 2mb pictures from your phone of the point of failure. I resent my initial email twice (for a total of 3), and the only one he got was the one with not pictures attached. Glad to hear everything worked out. Can't say I'm surprised.

kneelingatlas and alma are onto something here! Not only does this rule eliminate the option of incrementally increasing the performance/level of the gun as opposed to purchasing it how you want it outright... it disallows people in restricted states (i.e. California) from assembling firearms identical to their legal counterparts available for purchase by out-of-state competitors (i.e. SP-01 vs. SP-01 Shadow). Obviously the one viable option to get around this would be SSE, but is it really ok to force those of us living in restricted states to pay the premium and invest the additonal time required by a SSE transfer? If I travel from CA to a less restricted state to shoot a match with my SP-01, I am required to use my slide with the firing pin block installed as opposed to a Shadow upper which would likely be available to the majority of in-state competitors at the match? Limiting any competitor's ability to attain (or at the very least replicate) what is being used by other competitors in the same class does not sit well with me. I think the USPSA officials as well as the community as a whole need to take a step back and focus on the intent of the rules, not so much the black letter law. While there is an advantage to using a Shadow slide on a stock frame as compared to the stock slide (with FPB), it does not exceed the performance offered by the production legal Shadow models which are available to competitors in the majority of states... Just my .02

You should contact David Milam over at CGW and let him know that your EZ-D rear broke. I wouldn't be surprised if he dropped a new sight in the mail for you no questions asked. As evidenced by the posts in this forum, as well as the CZ forums, David and CGW are known for providing outstanding customer service.

In the past I have used a CZ 75 SA with the CGW sear and hammer in ESP. It's a really good setup, especially because it allows you to take advantage of starting condition 1. Unless you're going to set up a SP-01 specifically for IDPA, I'd say the 75 SA or any model of the 75 converted to SA would be a great choice and probably easier to get your hands on. Just be sure you don't remove the FPB like me and disqualify your gun from any IDPA competition! Let us know what you end up with.

I was going to suggest something along the lines of what Double L said. I'm not sure what holster setup your running now but it wouldn't surprise me if that is the cause of this. Sounds like the holster may potentially be rotated too far towards your rear. I know you're looking for wrist band recommendations (which sadly I don't have), but I think you may be trying to treat a symptom as opposed to curing the actual problem. Just my 2¢

You shoot IDPA with your Shadow? Doesn't IDPA require a firing pin block in all divisions? Please correct me if I am wrong, just curious. You just can't remove a FPB if the gun comes from the factory with one. If the gun never had one it is perfectly legal in IDPA. Got it. I'm a newb, my bad

cguy1177, Dave did mention that he had something in the works with LPA regarding a fully adjustable rear for a standard dovetail cut. He said maybe 2-3 months but did not want to be held to it...hopefully he was being modest/playing it cool.

I'm guessing a shadow milling + a Hajo sight would be cheaper than having the slide milled out to shadow "target" specs, is that correct? Any experience with having either done? I've just always been annoyed with POI/POA issues with non-adjustable pistols in the past and I think I'm at the point where I'm willing to pay to correct/control it.

I did not realize that was the case. On another note, I just read a post of yours saying that you were running a 1mm x 6.5mm front sight on your SP-01. I just order a 1mm x 6.0mm front, same rear as you. How is your point of impact at 15-20 feet? I'm looking for "combat" sighting, or point of aim/point of impact. Did I get the right set? I'm planning on shooting mainly 124s out of it, but I shoot what I can find so 115's and 147's arent out of the question.

I just want to keep the gun production legal. The only drop-in adjustable rear is the crappy LPA one which hangs awkwardly off the back and has a very shallow cut in it, looks like an old school target pistol setup. Can't mill the slide and shoot production with it, quite a pickle. Apparently LPA is working on a fully adjustable rear for the standard CZ75 dovetail but I'm not holding my breath just yet...

I'm having trouble deciding which sights to buy for my SP-01. I like the pair of CGW sights I have now on my 75 SA (comp rear, fiber optic front 1mm diode x 5.5mm front height) but I would prefer the fiber optic to be a bit wider, which I'm assuming would be the 1.5mm option up front. More than anything, I want the sights to be point of aim/point of impact. Not a 12 o'clock or 6 o'clock hold. I want hits directly behind my fiber optic. The options are pretty much the CGW or CZC rear, and then a 1.5 or 1mm diode on either a 5.5,6.0,or 6.5mm front. Common sense would tell me the combo most likely to be POI/POA would be the 6.0mm front since it is directly between the other two offerings but please let me know if that is not the case. I'm going to mainly be shooting 124grs out of this pistol. I spoke with Dave over at CGW and he believes that his sights will be a 12 o'clock hold, or in other words the bullet will impact directly above a perfefctly lined up sight picture. CZC's website recommends their rear fixed competition sight and a 6.0mm front for SP-01's, while they recommend a 6.5mm front for the CZ75/85 model using the same rear sight (which I found a bit odd). Please let me know if you have any experience with this.

Now I shoot occasionally at Discount Gun Mart on Morena Boulevard just because it's local and I know the staff. Since this whole panic started and 9mm/5.56 prices went through the roof combined with reloading supplies being unavailable I've been on a bit of a hiatus from actually firing my firearms

Hello all, I'm looking to get my CZ SP-01 ready for some USPSA competitions and could use some help. I'm a bit confused as to what modifications will be legal for my stock CZ SP-01 considering that the SP-01 Shadow variant is legal. From my understanding it appears I would be able to modify my stock SP-01 with the addition of all the parts(internal and external) found on a shadow and still compete in the production class, is this correct? I was contemplating sending my gun out to Cajun Gun Works for the modifications but then I realized that since his parts are technically not factory CZ this may not be legal. Any merit to that?
