  1. Ahh.......... I got it out. I used a drinking straw, one end on the ball, the other end in my mouth and sucked it out. The ball stuck to the end of the straw. Yes, the spring was missing, guess I'll call Dillon.
  2. I am in the process of installing my new 9mm caliber conversion kit on my 650. So far so good until now. This doesn't look quite right to me. Isn't the ball shown above sitting kind of low? There was a spring in that hole the last time I looked. How can I get the ball out to see if the spring is there. The ball is so low it's difficult to get a hold of.
  3. Btw, do you know if the primer punch is supposed to be included in the conversion kit. I didn't get one, just wondering
  4. Unfortunately the spring isn't in there. It's probably on the floor somewhere. I must have pulled them out when I took the shell plate off. I'll look for it and if I can't find it, I'll call Dillon
  5. I just got my conversion kit today (45acp to 9mm) from Dillon for my XL 650. I was in the process of setting it up and while removing the 45acp components, this thing fell on the floor. Does anyone know what it is? I'm thinking it's part of the primer assembly but maybe I'm wrong
  6. I had those when I had my 1st press, a Lee Turret Press. I sold the Lee Turret press and got a Dillon 550b and later a Dillon XL 650. I still have both Dillon presses and DIllon and Redding dies.
  7. I have some Lee dies that I used before I bought my Dillon equipment and now I am thinking of selling them. Can anyone help me identify them. I believe one is the bullet seating die and the other is the factory crimp die. I haven't used them in a long time now that I have all Dillon and Redding dies. Let me know if you can tell which one is which
  8. So, in summary, I gather that these 3 items are all I need to convert to 9mm XL 750 / XL 650 CALIBER CONVERSION KIT CASEFEED PLATE SMALL PISTOL XL 650 PRIMER SYSTEM SMALL (optional)
  9. It turns out that I can use the locator pins and powder funnel from the 550 on the 650 but even without those, buying the components separately is still more expensive, $110.95 compared to the entire conversion kit which is $84.95. So much for that idea. Thanks for the calculator, though. It made figuring it out a lot quicker
  10. I am getting ready to purchase a 9mm conversion kit for my XL650. I currently have my 650 set up for 45acp and my 550b is set up for 9mm. I am planning to switch the 550b to 45acp and the 650 to 9mm because I am shooting a lot more 9mm these days. So is the 9mm powder funnel on my 550 the same one that is used on the 650 for 9mm, i.e is it the same powder funnel that is in the 650 9mm conversion kit. The same for the locator pins. If they are, maybe I could just purchase the other components of the 650 9mm conversion kit separately. I haven't figure out if it would save me any money
  11. I've noticed that if I tighten the 2 allen screws too tight that the primer slide starts sticking and I have to nudge it with my finger to get it to move forward. Loosening the 2 screws underneath it remedies the problem but then the primer slide eventually starts to wobble. Has anyone tried using Locktite (removable, of course) to keep the screws from getting too loose?
  12. I ended up finding a video on You Tube that is pretty comprehensive, don't need one now.
  13. Is this what you are referring to? https://www.dillonprecision.com/xl-650-primer-system-small_8_116_23808.html
  14. Unfortunately, there was not a primer change needed here. That is something I will have to do. Wish I could find a video that has that in it in addition to everything else you have to change. Do I have to take out the primer feed control block (4:00 in the video). On the one I have, you just flip it forward/backward to turn it on/off
  15. I assume that since I have been loading 45acp, that I won't have to change the powder bar, right. They both use small powder bar?
  16. So, now that I know what I need to buy from Dillon to do the conversion, can someone tell me which OEM parts I need that were supplied with my 650. That way, if I have misplaced or lost anything and have to purchase any OEM parts, I can order everything at once. Thanks again
  17. I was thinking of going this route after watching a video of changing the priming system from large to small. When you buy the primer system from DIllon does the small/large primer punch come with it?
  18. Will it harm gun powder to leave it in the trunk of my car for several days when the temperatures are between 35 and 60 degrees.
  19. I finally got it out with a pair of channel locks. Thanks to all
  20. I thought about spraying silicone or some kind of lubricant on it but I don't want to contaminate the rounds
  21. I have a 9mm case stuck in the end of my Dillon decapping die. I tried to hammer it out from the other end with a hammer and screw driver but all I did was make matters worse by smashing the lip of the case inside the die so now it won't fit through the opening in the end of the die. Any ideas how to get the case out or is this a lost cause and I should I just buy another die
  22. I wasn't really thinking of removing the FPB. I was thinking more of replacing the firing pin with the elongated firing pin
  23. I have been having trouble with with primers not firing with this gun. I have seen several videos and read numerous forum posts indicating that replacing the stock firing pin with an elongated one solves this problem. This gun has not had any custom work done and is 100% stock. So I am surprised to have to resort to that.
  24. I have a CZ 75 B SA. I assume the "B" means it has a firing pin block, right? How can I tell?
