  1. I have loaded a bunch of Ibejihead 180gr FP (with mostly Solo 1000 and N320) and recently bought a case of 200gr RN. You will need less powder b/c this is true with all lead or coated lead rounds. I think it has to do with when you shoot jacketed, more gas escapes, where as lead or coated lead, there is a better seal and the pressure builds with less powder charge. I'm not an expert on those reasons though, just my simplistic understanding of it.

  2. I Installed the Titan Hammer and the light hammer and firing pin spring from EG. On the back of the hammer is now a spot where the black finish is gone. See picture. On the beavertail there is corresponding dull spot. Is it normal behaviour that the hammer touches the beaver tail when firing.

Do I have to worry about it? Springs that are too light?

I have that on mine also, and I think it only happens when you are hand-cocking it.. if you rack the slide back, does the hammer make contact like that?

  3. I have placed a Titan hammer on my Sock II Xtreme. Works great. But I see the following. When I put the safety on I can pull the trigger so the hammer goes half-cock. I cannot pull to drop the hammer. I can also rack the slide or pull the hammer to half-cock when the safety is on.

Is this normal. I didn't think this was possible with the original Delta hammer. The hammer wouldn't move at all with the safety on.

i think you might want to try fitting a new sear to the safety. I think the Titan makes the sear sit a little differently than the Delta. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

  4. There are other holsters with positive locking. Manny Bragg usa holster works similarly to the ghost but has spring assist and magnets which are an improvement. Has a better hanger too.

The DAA race master is more secure still. Instead of a ball it has a wedge/hook that blocks the trigger guard.

The ghost is an ok holster and was a ground breaking design at the time by amadini. But in the years since there have been some improvements in race holsters. The race master and manny usa are both better in my eyes. I've owned all 3. Still have a rm and a usa but not the ghost.

I've been using a Safariland 014 for Limited for 2 years now, thinking about trying the Race Master, Manny, or Ernie Hill.

In your opinion, if you had to pick one, which one and why? Does the Manny one damage the finish of the frame b/c of the magnet?

Edit: NM, I found this http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=159771&p=1783455

  5. So I think it's been narrowed down to a CK Arms Thunder vs STI DVC Open, both in 38. I've handled the DVC and aside from a bit more flash and flare I'm betting you guys will likely give a nod to the CK? I was not impressed with the factory trigger on the DVC I handled, but compared to the Steel Master and Eagle sitting next to it it they were both much better. Maybe it just needed some break in?

you guess correctly with the nod to CK.

There's not much to think about when choosing between any STI factory gun and a CK.

  6. Ck has steel grips and i think its cheaper than the svi's

The difference is probably less than you think. The SVI grip includes a magwell, mainspring housing, trigger insert, mag catch, and button. The CK grip comes bare.

    Not true

"The CK Arms metal grip kit includes the grip, mag release, mainspring housing and magwell."

Only difference would be the trigger insert.. now you've got me looking at SVI grips..

  7. Finally shot a match with my 3. I really need to go through this thread. I felt like I had trigger freeze due to the reset. I was expecting it sooner and not slacking out enough. Cost me an A class run on the classifier. What is the one best thing to improve reset?

"Freeze"? Never used that phrase.... details please. :)
not let off the trigger enough to reset and try to shoot again

T3 disco addresses this i believe.

  9. Henning Gen 4 is 190 vs 204 OEM. This is why extended FPB isn't catching the firing pin

This made me want to measure the 4 pins I have, so here they are:

inside the notch, along the flat face, full diameter, from inside firing pin stop, full length

    OEM: 0.2025, 0.226, 0.255, 2.585, 2.605

    XTREME: 0.2035, 0.2265, 0.2545, 2.464, 2.607

    Henning G3: 0.1985, 0.0224, 0.251, 2.4805, 2.6155

    Henning G4: 0.1905, 0.226, 0.252, 2,477, 2.6265

I think the full diameter is the measurement which matters most here for engagement with the FPB. The henning Gen 4 is even more different b/c it has all these slices taken out, and might be even more thin along the direction that matters most. 0.2325 is this measurement.

  10. Yeah removing the FPB is not a competitive advantage thing, its a PIA thing.

Eli - I was finally successful with this combo

One Piece Sear, Ex FPB, EG 2.0 FP, EG Light Firing Pin Spring, Titan Hammer

Im sure this will work with the Delta Hammer as well but haven't tested it. The Henning Gen III seems to work but I dont like how far it will move forward with the FPB.

I state EG Light FPS because some are using a stock to keep the FP from going too far forward. So far with this setup Im fine. More live fire with it to come tonight.

You mean you're using the 'Tanfoglio Xtreme Firing Pin'? The 2.0 is the one that does not work with the FPB.

I think it is funny that reading the description of this one on Eric's site, they advertise that it is "longer, heavier and has a new redesigned hammer impact surface to increase the reliability of your firearm while using light trigger pulls" while Henning is trying to get his a light as possible. Makes me wonder if heavier or lighter is really better. It does seem both extend the length to some extent.

I also wondered about this - I own many firing pins - henning gen 3 and 4, and the EG xtreme.

Back when I shot glocks, the idea was to put a light striker spring in and put an extended lightened striker in to get reliable primer ignition - the firing pin would move faster.

you bring up a great point about the extreme difference in weight between the EG Xtreme and Henning gen4... are they both right, or is one of them so so wrong?
