  1. Congratulations on the Match both on and off the stages !!!!!

You should be proud of yourself and all those who helped put on the match. I am proud to have been a part of it.

1st A and 9th over all !!!!!!!:bow::bow::bow: I hope one day I can do stuff like that too. :)

  2. Been thinking that since I've been lucky to have good low cost training and advice I'd pass it on. ;)

April 28, 2012 at the Cross Roads Sport shooting assn in Glen Mississippi www.crssa.com (near Corinth MS) 8am-4pm Saturday.

We'll work on fundamentals, reloading techniques, stage breakdowns, USPSA vs ICORE & IDPA(Hit factor scoring, vs. Time down)

Sunday the 29th the class will shoot the clubs Steel only USPSA style match @ 1:00 (5 or 6 stages of pure steel, USPSA Freestyle stages) (Was going to do it on the USPSA weekend but that is Easter Sunday and I'll be at church)

Cost will be your time, my time is free to you. $25 for targets and pasters as needed and range fees. The steel match on Sunday is $5.00 and will not be included in the $25.

Bring 500 bullets for your favorite gattling gun. Bring your own lunch, and another 200 or so bullets for the steel match.

Interested contact me via e-mail or through these forums

Thanks to Brian Enos for the Forums and opportunity to pass on what has been freely given to me.:bow::bow:

Oh, and if you're gonna come from out of town I suggest staying in Corinth. (12 miles from the range) ;)

  3. I'd like to congratulate Mark, Alan, Lee and the rest of the East Alabama Gunclub on a very well set up, organized and staffed match. It took me maybe an hour to walk all the stages and tweek just a couple to help keep issues from coming up (They would have been minor issues too) ;)

I was asked to be the Range Master and had no hesitation to say "YES" as last year I worked the match as a "CRO" and everything was well run, organized and just plain "Great". The Chrono stage was the biggest "issue" of the match and it was cut and dry. This was my first time as Range Master for anything other than a local match and hope I did a good job. Not every body liked my calls, but some of you did. I did my best to use the rulebook as a guide and go from there. Several occasions I did call a NROI instructor and VERY EXPERIANCED Range Master to confirm my rulings and had got them right.

I would also like to Thank all the Staff on Friday and Saturday for their hard work and Patience with me. I'd do it again with all of them any time and any where !!!!

Congratulations to all who shot well. Thanks to all the sponsors as these matches might happen without them, but it sure would be harder to do.

As with all matches. There were some things that will be done different, or not at all, But I can say without hesitation it will be for the better of the match and your enjoyment. ;)

    Job well done !!!!

  4. Do the math:

A good field course hit factor is in the 5-6 range.

So lets do it this way:

24 seconds on a 120 point stage is a 5 hit factor and lets say Carmoney lays down that run and it is the Stage winner for the match.

You are shooting major and you do the same time but 3 charlies(-1 each) and 1 delta (-3 each) (5 points total) you now have a 4.7917 Hitfactor and 95.83% for a total of 114.99 points

If you shoot minor: 24 seconds 3 charlies (-2) and 1 delta (-4 and what I call a no penalty mike) for a total of 10 points down you now a 91.66% and have a 4.5833 hit factor and 110.12 match points.

To get the same hit factor as the major run vs minor run you would have to cut 1.01 seconds off that very same run. Or just hit an A instead of the Delta or the 3 Charlies pretty much.

You basicly lost 4% just by shooting Minor vs Major <_<

in a 226 round match like the Memphis charity Challenge (1130 match points) you are giving away 45.2 match points before ever firing a shot (4% of 1130) to Minor vs Major (generally 1 stage at the MCC) :surprise:

Now if you are just shooting club matches and getting triggertime............BY ALL MEANS SHOOT MINOR !!!! it'll save wear and tear on your wrists ;)

    Hope that helps.

  5. If you don't want to modify your springs contact Vic Pickett from the ICORE website and get a Black Majik Spring kit from him. I've tried them all (Just because I can) and his gives me the best results (others may say different and may be right).

I could skip using his kits and do like Toolguy, but I like the idea of having the factory stuff should someone offer me way more than I need for my blaster. (has happened, and was quite glad to take him up on his "deal") ;)

I will be looking into extending an invatation to forgien shooters for the 2012 Memphis Charity Challenge if you and some other of your Northern Brethren would like to take a trip in the fall. :)

  6. Josh and I agree.....the 6" 646 is the funnest of the revolvers I have (and I've got a few for the game).

I use my 646 ONLY for Major USPSA matches and with a little time on it maybe the 2 weeks before the match. (it is more snappy and transitions great) I practice with my 625 (when I get to practice now days) and lead loads (Cheaper that way)

I spent just a little time at the practice range with the 646 when I got it back and it vs. the 625 and the 25-2 have almost identical times on my normal drills (the 646 does have on average a .02 faster trigger split @ 10 yds) (I think it is the little shorter trigger stroke in the L frame ?)All my match revo triggers are set @ 6 lbs. reloads on the average (20 averaged on steel @ 10 yds) were: 625- 1.91.....25-5- 1.88......646- 1.93.......with the single fastest reload going to the 646 @ 1.68 (really fast for me) :surprise:

I started shooting USPSA with a 610 it is a good gun and but I was regularly having reloading hang-ups/stalls with the bullets not going in the chambers compared to the other revolvers so it went away for another 625 several years ago.

I'll be shooting the 646 at the Alabama Sectional in March I'd be glad to show it off (looks just like a 686 but with a Ty cylinder).

Would I go out of my way to BUY a 646 then rebarrel it just for USPSA.....probably not, but since I have a couple of 646s and got into the 6" 686 barrel really cheap (50 bucks) why not ? ;)
