  1. Thanks for your thoughts guys, I will use many of your suggestions and see what works best. I will try to make better use of the 5 minutes. Thanks again. Paul
  2. As a new shooter (4 matches), I am still struggling with stage breakdown and planning. Long courses really give me problems. I always lose a target along the way. The misses and FTEs add up very quickly. During the walk through, I try to make mental notes of how many and where, but it gets a little overwhelming at times. I usually do a decent job of planning reloads (when moving) but have run the gun dry a few times. I have tried to visualize the COF, but I get lost. The folks that can do that amaze me. 5 minutes is not enough time for me. I usually try to get a solid count of paper and steel targets and shoot them as I see them, if I can see them. The targets that are hidden by cover may get forgotten. Any help (reading materials, drills, etc) would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Paul
  3. Tracker, I have found for me, it is almost impossible for me to go completely without sugar for any length of time. Past practice has me reacting the same as you and nearly a binge type reaction. My solution has been to have a little sugar daily. I don't go overboard with it, just enough to satisfy the craving. It's kind of strange, I don't normally eat chocolate, but while I am doing a good job of avoiding sugar, it's the first thing I look for. Good luck! Paul
  4. I ordered a sample pack of Bayou Bullets this February for my first season of USPSA. I worked up a good load that I planned on shooting this summer, and then ordered a Dillon 550 and set it up to load the Bayous. I emailed Donnie to place an order, and as usual he emailed me back in short order. The bad news is, he is back ordered 6 to 7 weeks on all his bullets. He must have a good product! I guess I will be shooting Berrys. Just a heads up for those of you shooting Donnie's bullets. Paul
  5. No problem Sarge (and Chris), was just curious about your decision. I unfortunately will not have the luxury of trying on numerous makes and models to help in my decision. Your feedback will definitely help out. Thanks again. Paul
  6. Sarge, I am interested in your decision. Let us know what you picked up. New shooter with electronic muffs on the "list". Thanks. Paul
  7. Thanks for the help guys! As usual, the shooting sports never cease to amaze me with the sharing of information. I am located in Southwest Pennsylvania and be shooting a Smith M&P 9L. I am planning on preparing this winter for the Spring season, so I will have plenty of time for drills and dry firing with range time when I am ready. I have watched videos of you guys at matches and looks like a lot of fun. Thanks again, Paul
  8. I have decided to take the plunge and try this game. I am a competitive rifle shooter and bring no pistol skills to the table. Are there any good DVDs out there for a true beginner? I need the basics; stance, grip, sight alignment, reloads etc. Thanks in advance. Paul
