I had a 6 moa RTS2 on my Open gun & recently purchased an 8 moa RTS2 for comparison and found the 8 moa is not only bigger, but much MUCH brighter than the 6 ever was. Tried new batteries, tried cleaning the diode, but always felt like the 6 moa RTS2 wasn't bright enough, especially when shooting in the Southern States (Florida, Texas, etc.).

I just switched my guns to 10 moa RTS2's from 8 moa and they are even brighter

If one moa equals roughly 1" at 100 yards and 2" at 200 yards then it is 1/4" at 25 yards.  Right? And if a 2.5moa dot covers 2.5" at 100 yards then it is covering.0.6 of an inch at 25yrds. so there is almost (0.875) a full inch of variable at 25 yards. Or am I doing the math wrong?

    my point exactly.

So since my last update I’ve had zero problems with brass jamming under the optic. However I have noticed that the SRO wasn’t holding zero. It was consistently .5-1.5” low when I’d check it. I zero’d the optic last Friday and shot 2 matches last weekend. On Sunday I was inspecting the optic and noticed that the elevation adjustment screw wasn’t in the same orientation as I remembered.

Today I went to the range. Initially the POI was off about .5”. I rezero’d the gun and marked the adjustment screw. After about 200 rounds the screw had moved 1 click by itself. After 500 rounds the screw had moved 2-3 clicks by itself. I’ve tested this on 2 different SROs and both of their elevation screws move by themselves under recoil.

Guess I’ll contact Trijicon and see what they say.

Not to make light of the adjustment screw moving, but how does one determine that POI has moved by .5"  Especially with a 1moa adjustment?
A quick fix would be a dab of clear fingernail polish over the adjustment screw.

  4. If I had guns that wouldn't at minimum make it through a 10 stage match, I would get new guns.  Seriously, you shouldn't have to deal with that.
When custom open guns will go well over 1000 rounds between cleanings, not making it through a match is just ridiculous.
I won't even go into the probable  negatives to your match performance.
Your goal should always be to simply show up and shoot.  Not worry about equipment.

A pair of these gorgeous polished Evos are currently in the capable hands of Don at Venom Customs.

These should really light up the inside of your safe while they sit there...  forever... because your wife never lets you shoot.

There is a decent difference in weight between using tungsten powder and tungsten shapes (spheres, blocks, plates, etc).  I would recommended using as many of the shapes as you can fit in the grip instead of powder.  Not that i think it matters on performance (i just like tinkering), i was able to get my CO glock up to 40oz by getting creative and playing around with tungsten.

I too would like to know how you got 10+ oz of tungsten in a glock.
(without making it the size of a brick)

  7. The specific rule regarding PCC states that you can be DQ'd at ANY time for sweeping.  I expect if one were to ask Troy this thinking would be extended to include all guns.

10.5.19 Failing to point the muzzle of a PCC at a side berm or back stop during casing/uncasing or removing/replacing on a conveyance or sweeping any person with the muzzle of a PCC, whether loaded or not, even if a chamber flag is inserted. Side berms/backstops may be used for casing and uncasing or removing from/placing on conveyances only. All other gun handling with the PCC, e.g., sight pictures, turning dots on/off, etc., must be accomplished in a safety area or under the direct supervision of a Range Officer

If the slide is locked back, magazine is out and no round in the chamber, is it a big deal to slide a pencil down the barrel? I get where you’re coming from. Maybe you could hold the pencil with something other than your fingers? I carry a multi-tool in my bag.

Im not sure on how the rules apply to what I’m suggesting.

there are no exemptions for sweeping while checking for a squib.

Why not just lock the slide back and run a pen or pencil down the barrel?

i get the whole idea of a zip tie, but that’s just one more thing for me to remember to bring.

how will you do that without sticking your fingers in front of the muzzle?

Well if you want more shortcomings per dollar the sig is the way to go. 😅

I was more pointing at if you are going to spend $450 on making your gun heavier it might be worth buying a heavier gun.

The sig is ok and with a gray guns kit is quite shootable but spending $1000 on it seems crazy to me.

Might be ok for Max who likely gets it for nothing but ill take the shadow 2's for that kind of money thanks.

When you, buy that CZ you get to have it milled for a dot, pay for a trigger job that will only run federal primers, have a much smaller magwell, deal with DA/SA and carry around a pocket full of bic springs and slide stops.  The cz STARTS where a fully tricked out X5 ends up price wise and the X5 is arguably better.

Is that your dye job?  If so how long did you dye it for and what colors?

5 minutes in the pot.  Sapphire Blue.

Hello: I can't see them not offering a black version as well. An all gray version makes more sense to me just because I like the black and gray combo. Gray grip and black slide please. Thanks, Eric

Buy a white grip module and a little rit dye and you can have any color you want.

There is no doubt most of the top finishers in Open Use a thumb assist. What the doubt is about how to use it. If you use it to grip the gun and point the thumb towards the bore everything else becomes automatic. Those that dont like them are usually using them incorrectly or are accomplished with another technique. The best thing about it is now they are available for carry guns. So you dont have to change your technique from Racing to self defense.

Fascinating topic, but many factual errors. At club I shoot at most use the GoGun product and I personally saw their use in early 90's. I talked to a couple of shooters who know him to get real story.  What they said is, and this is second hand, On forum many shooters were dissing the "GP" but were using other products and calling it "GP". Chet, the guy who invented it asked Brian to clarify the differences, as he said the "GP" is not a thumb rest, but Brian decided to use the computer generated phrase and banned Chet. From the account I heard there were no threats involved. From shooters I met at big matches, they say he is a nice guy and has done a lot to sponsor USPSA matches. About the prices, from what I see, the "GP" is the least expensive.

However folks, it is the American way to defend what is your own property and patents are property. In fact, I looked it up, and gov thru USPTO says you MUST defend the patent or it is no longer valid. So defending a patent does not make him a bad guy, it makes him an american complying with law of the land.

Hi Chet.  It's pretty funny that you think anyone doesn't know this is you.
