  1. Drop it into an ultrasonic cleaner for the powder residue. Then soak in sea foam (automotive) will get rid of all carbon deposit. Then leave it in mercury (extreme caution) which reacts with lead and chemically removes ALL lead. No brushing, like new after this process!

  2. I have done a lot of tinkering lately with springs on a czechmate. I have found that at 170pf the best recoil spring is Wolff 10lb progressive. A GM suggested a 7lbs and will be trying that... His gun is unbelievably flat... Other people have suggested a lighter hammer spring to reduce muzzle flip due to the slide moving back. This also makes sense... Has anyone out there done a lot of experimenting on the best combination? What I would really like to understand, from a data perspective, not what people think it say, if lighter recoil and hammer springs do in fact add tear and wear (more) in the gun... I do use recoil buffers (I know that's a totally different debate) after a lot of experimenting, it does reduce substantially the impact between frame and slide (at least in a czechmate geometry and structure). Factory recoil spring is 14lb and hammer spring is 15lb. On the hammer spring I can get down to 9lb to ignite primers...

  3. Depends on the gun. My cz shadow has shallow rifling, hence berrys hollow base round nose seals better and provides half the group sizes relative to montana gold which have the hardest jacket (brass vs copper). My glock 19 likes montana gold better. Berrys has no issues with plating, as I shoot them at 1370. Fps from my open gun - over 10k rounds, and are perfect. Most accurate are zero regardless of gun. One more thing, I used to be a hard core montana gold person until I experienced fast barell wear due to the brass jacket. I shoot multiple guns and around 30k rounds per year, so I've stopped using montana gold bullets, and my wear problems have gone away. Again, depends on the gun. Both are excellent - Kudos to montana gold supporting our sport, maybe that's your decision maker....

  4. I did shoot the shadow - but haven't checked accuracy with the factory ammo yet. Also waiting for that front sight roll pin. I'll be at Riverbend this Saturday, if you're there we can take some shots and you can take a look at it.

  5. Didn't expect so many people to prefer the 1301! I'm glad I made that my first 3 gun purchase, and I didn't even do as much research as I should have.

I was just thinking the same thing ...lol

I had the same debate. Got the 1301 21" added the beretta 2" extended choke and a +5 nordic components. Shot for the first time at atlanta 3 gun... Wows it was a blast! It was pouring ... Had people with JM2, and M2s failing through torrential rain, mud, etc... My 1301 performed flawlessly - right out of the box! Beretta shotguns have never let me down hunting or in trap/skeet... Now in 3 gun they will lead the pack soon!

  6. Berry's and Extreme, don't know that I'm good enough to justify the added cost of MG, I'll get there one day though :)

My cz shadow used to like montana gold for around 10k shoots, then lost accuracy... Remember montana golds are brass jackets, which are tougher. Berrys double struck or extremes 147 are best

  7. I like Clays powder with 135gr Berry's plated bullets in my CZ.

Clays is the best. Have tried all powders and measured recoil lift by go pro super slow motion from the side. Clays had lowest recoil at same power factor, then n320. Tight group had most recoil. I'll try to find the video and post it tomorrow... Did the test a couple years ago...

  8. hope you can afford the three weeks and $43,765 it takes to shoot it this year

Dude, I thought it was $43,750! Crap... I need to get to A class... What better place than at the nationals! As long as I can get this to shoot straight again... I got some federal factory ammo to try and the front sight pin looks a little weird, so changing the pin and will try factory ammo...

  9. No failures here. Running czc base pads and thei followers and spings... Gettin 29 big stick, 24 on the regular sticks... Had nose dives at first, but closed the tubes a little and opened the lips and all nose dives were gone

  10. 3117fps seems pretty decent from your 25.6gr load. Did you get any pressure signs at that point? I usually load to 2.250 OAL vs your 2.230", I wonder if lengthening that you could get a little faster yet... groups don't sound all that great, but I wonder if some tuning could improve it.Thanks for sharing!

No pressure signs at all. I checked each case individually as they came out.I didn't expect much from the Xtreme bullets, though. You probably could tighten the groups up with either a better projectile or some fine tuning as you say.I bought em for up close hoser stuff.Take care,Dave

I am using xtreme bullets with vv n133 out of a DPMS 3g2 and am getting 0.5 MOA... Oal at 2.255 and 23.5 grain, although muzzle velocity is only at 2850 out of the 16" barell. I just ordered some ar comp... We'll see how it compares...

  11. Wow - this did stir up a lot of interest. First, I want to thank everyone that has suggested potential fixes - some i've tried, some I will try. Second, I thank the bidding war that somewhere in the middle (Samuel) started to make the bid go backward! This is a fun, respectful, and supportive community indeed - that's why I love this sport so much.

A person from CZ USA did contact me through the forum to do some research on the issue (I'll keep names out), so kudos to some of the employees that stand behind the brand. I'll keep people posted...

Just to clarify one thing - I was never looking for a new gun or the like (burning squirrels can attest I have no issues buying a new one if I wanted), I am truly disappointed at the situation... I think the first person I spoke to CZ USA honestly believed it was just worn out and it was not covered - that was not as bad as CZ Custom guy trying to sell me an upgrade to an accu-shadow promising that had better accuracy! Unbelievable... "Let me ignore your problem, let me sell you something better..." after over $4k in sales in the last couple of years, keep wanting to sell me more stuff, rather than helping fix a problem with one of their sales - while it's tough to find a better gun than a CZ, I sure will find a better retailer than CZC.

Another clarification, I have 6 CZ guns - from their polymer p07 all the way to their czechmate - all have been amazing guns... therefore I would not doubt that this Shadow was just bad luck - all my friends and family Shadows run awesome - so I'm convinced it's this particular unit.

  12. I would send Stuart a PM. I seriously doubt he would be unwilling to help diagnose and address the problem.

I'm assuming Stuart is CZ customer service rep? Does he have an ID here? I may call him tomorrow... thanks for the tip
