  1. My 13 year olds began on a beretta 1301 and love it. Ive had a number of beretta semi and i can recall even one malfunction, with any load... in any temperature. 390 was my duck gun and took uncountable with that one.

  2. Thanks will try that.

I just run the 100 RNFP Xtreme bullets on top of my normal major load of 8.0 grains of HS6 and Have had good luck. This load went a little over 135pf out of my gun and was very flat. Recoil was a little harsh for a barely minor load, but it was a dream shooting them back to back with my major loads.

I'm reading all these red dot threads as I'm looking for a new one. My vortex venom lost zero and elevation won't adjust.  Ya they'll fix it but I don't care for its lack of brightness.  But reading all these threads I'm I thought I had the DPP selected but didn't expect to see this many issues.  With only a 2 yr warranty, I may just get a vortex razor.  At least it has the vortex warranty.

I must have missed it, but dpp only 2 year warranty? Ive had zero prob, ems with mine.

  4. Just got a new citori 725 skeet, and want to get some new chokes. The briley spectrum ds looks good, but it doesnt have the gas seal ring. Is that an issue? And who knows the real story on browning chokes and why thei comstriction is less than all the other chokes? Anyone have empirical data to say they are good or trash? Thanks!

  5. The problem you will have at that weight is the gun will fail to reset the striker - not enough sear tension.

At 2.5 lbs functions perfectly and sear resets. Not a single problem (although only 300 rounds through it)

So I tried to order a new sear from Sig and they wont sell them anymore.....  I suspect its related to the "voluntary recall".

    Brownells has them

  7. Ok. So took a seat spring out, cut the other seat spring by two coils, stoned the sear, and bent the trigger return spring. Now it’s braking at 2.5 lbs. I think this is the limit for reliable function.

If I get time, I do want to make a video about what was done to the trigger.  It's all stock parts including all the springs (minus one sear spring).  It's just time consuming to do it right.

Would love to see the video!

I too am fascinated with your trigger work. But I do question the wisdom of this...

Aren't you concerned that removing one of the springs entirely will introduce lateral torque on the sear? I'm not sure if this would eventually cause uneven wear but, because I'm not sure, I would probably not do this. Grayguns solves this by using two reduced weight springs. This is the preferred method IMHO. But I welcome input from those who know more on the subject. Is my concern overstated?

So that means that using one greyhound reduced seat spring gets us closer to 2 lbs?

  10. Mobil1 on lugs, rails, hood, extractor groove. Cycle 15-20 times and wipe crud coming out of the gun. Apply Mobil 1 again and repeat. No need to disassemble - let Mobil 1 cleaning agents do the job. As far as barrel, once every 10,000 rounds - no copper brush.

  11. Sp2 is king. 9 grains behind 125 zero

AA#7 at 9.8 grains behind 125 zero comes in at second

A third far away is hs6 on 115, I think it was 8.4 grains

Sp2 and AA7 gives concussions, but is soft. The explosion is so powerful, but the dot is so tame.

Autocomp and silhouette has no concussion and is snappy. Explosion is less powerful, and dot moves a lot.

To test the above powders, run some bill drills at 20 yards. Fastest time in alphas should be your powder. That's how I found sp2 and aa#7

  12. Zero .356 125gr bullets shoot 1.5" at 50 yards with multiple powders, regardless of batch. Pd 115 or 124jhp shoot between 2" and 6" at 50 yards depending on powder and batch - the current 115jhp batch does 2" at 25 yards. So at the end, if you do 2" at 25 yards, it's good enough. But you get bragging rights when you do 1.5" at 50!

  13. So people like Titegroup for 9 minor. We also know that it generates a lot of heat. We also know that gas produces more felt recoil in non comped gun. So at same burn factor of, say clays, wouldn't the ideal gas law state that due to Titegroup being hotter in temperature, but burn rate determines pressure similarity, then mean that Titegroup generates more gas, hence more recoil than similar burn rate powders such as n320, x700, clays? Yet people like Titegroup as a soft shooter? Just wondering what the thermodynamics/quantitative view is...
