I load them 1.210" but playing around with loads I've gone up to 1.250" ... Never tried any longer than that ... At 1.250" they don't seem to cycle as well for me

Hi,
My name is Frederico and I shoot IPSC in the Standard Division in Brazil.
I will participate the Florida Open in February shooting in the Limited division.
Thanks
Very cool. Always wondered what the laws were in Brazil for owning guns ....
Welcome !

Jim Anglin, Sailors Custom
Thanks I will send Jim an email.
Seems like the S_I guys get all the fun .... Sheesh, should have been a machinist and/or gunsmith.
-
More than likely I will ... as long as this stinking tennis elbow gets better ... good thing there's lots of info on how to help fix it

Anyone know of a custom builder?
I saw that Canyon Creek does work on the Tanfoglio, but I couldn't find anyone else. Are there any out there?

you should also check your mag lips....especially the front part... ive seen this happen when they are opened up too far. what sometimes happens is that the friction between the top and second rounds is enough to actually slide both rounds forward and if the mags are not tuned right it will push the top round out prematurely. thus creating a double feed.....worth checking out.
+1 here
I had that exact problem for months and couldn't figure it out. Checked the feed lips on all my mags and most were too wide.
Squeeze them in so that the top round is parallel (or very close to it) with the feed lips and you should get better results. After making this fix, I went from 1 or 2 jams a stage to 1 jam my entire last match. And that was an ejection problem rather than a feed problem.

Haven't tried Clays .. But use the 200gr Frontier all the time in my Tanfoglio LC .. 4.5 gr N320 makes 174 PF
I guess you could start low and work up a load ...

No more Olds matches unfortunately due to the range rules changing.
Being in Edmonton you are kind of central which is nice. Some traveling never hurt .. Why not come up to fort Mac or down to Lethbridge .. Heck I travel from Fort Mac all over the place .. 9+ hour drive to Lethbridge for me ..

Oh I love issue #8 .. It's my favorite. Happens all the time ...
I called Hornady and there is a new tube for 40 that is supposed to work better ... Someone else on here alerted me to that one ... Hornady will send it out for free

I have had all of the exact same 7 issues posted above. I really like the LnL. Just the case feeder is a POS. an it seems the whole case feed system was a secondary thought to the machine as opposed to having it built with care feeder in mind from the start

One wrap of Teflon tape did it for me .... Pretty simple and fixed right away ...

No; it's Ian.
You're right. The season is over until next year, so not much to do except work on the skills. Missed you at the Phoenix, Edmonton match this past weekend.
Indeed. Ian you missed a great match!

Maybe they will let you keep what they sent you and send you a new shell plate and complete tool head with dies and powder measure in 40 cal?
Just got off the phone ... That's exactly what they are going to do .. Send out a .40 conversion kit, plus Gary was nice enough to throw in some spare parts that I asked about, due to the inconvenience. And it is going out FedEx today so I should have it early next week.
Still sucks, but hey, they are working to fix it right away. I got a chuckle when he said "well I wish I could say this was the first time it ever happened, but ..."

That would be my preferred method of fixing the problem. At the moment I don't even own anything in 38/357 but I suppose it would give me an excuse to go buy a new gun.
Doh!
Think about the Cowboy Shooter who is going WTH?
No kidding .. I'm sure that wheel gun shooter is going to be saying the same thing I did after opening the box. LoL
Well, I'm sure they will fix it, and I understand mistakes (human error) happens, but it really sucks since I wanted to set this unit up over the weekend and get it going.
Still things I can do I suppose, like set up the major parts, pull the shell plate, clean/lube all the parts.

200 gr Frontier jacketed. 4.5 gr VV N320. 1.205 OAL. Shoots a 174 PF out of my Tanfoglio LC and feels really light.
Would love to try out some moly bullets for comparison ...

For that price it better work
Agreed. And it works quite well. I attached a tube to the case feeder and down to the drop tube on it which helps speed it up also.

Wow ... 46 pages long and some great ideas here... Next weekend is my "new bench building project phase one" .... I will have to post some pics when I get to it ... I'm glad I have a loving and understanding wife ... She gives me a whole room in the house to use

FWIW... And it all depends on your budget I guess ...I bought the Case Master Junior from Magma Engineering ... Works like a hot damn to get that crappy bulge out. I bought it with 9mm, 40 and 45 dies, although I have only actually used the 40 since that is what I shoot the most of. A friend of mine has one as well in 9mm and he gets fantastic results with it also.

Saw the optometrist today and told her about what was going on. She suggested a pair of contacts for general daily use, plus a different pair specifically for shooting. She measured from my eye to where the focal point will be when shooting (the front sight obviously) and she has ordered a trial pair of contacts that will allow that, while keeping the overall vision. I should have them in a couple of weeks and I will report back when I try them out.

This is how I fixed the rain and up-side down cases. Now the cases just get stuck on the left side of the opening next to the movable metal flat plate. I used a business card and held up with black tape.
Notice the funnel shape in the drop, cut the card board from a primer box so it lines all 3 sides of the funnel, this reduces the dimensions enough that the round cannot turn over. Jams happen because a 9 mm is just the about the same length as the funnel is front to back when you reduce it then it can't lodge sideways in there and make it rain and it can't turn over. http://www.sashooter.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=825
Got ya .. I'll give that a try .. 40 is a big problem for me as well. Thanks for the tips!

To stop the jams from cases not falling, make a wiper inside to knock the cases back down that are not vertical in the plate. I made mine out of a little piece of plastic stuck to the hopper with double sided tape. Never get failure to drop cases that jam up the motor now
If you get a chance, could you post a pic? What height did you make it?

Awesome thread and very applicable ... I've got an appointment with the eye doc n Monday so I will bring this up and ask about different combinations of contact lenses, but ...
FWIW I'm rather blind ... -7.75, -8.50 .. Typically contacts get me the best results so that's what I've been using. As others have said, the peripheral vision is better with the contacts

Awesome. Thanks! Looks like I will just keep using the CCIs ....l
Why is this happening?

In Canada we have 10 round mag restrictions ... Crappy, but thats the law, so we deal with it ... 5 round mags for rifle max, 10 for handguns
I use 200gr Frontier bullets, 4.5gr VV N320, CCI primers ... Cases I typically use mixed brass, I haven't tried sorting it to see the difference ...
That load gives me ~174 PF and shoots really soft
