Darrell, that is good to hear. I am hoping to load the MG 124gr CMJ to similar lengths. Also hoping that the Lee AutoDisk Pro drops this WAC well.
-
I just ordered 1k MG 124gr CMJ and picked up a lb of WAC. I need to see how long I can load these in my 9mm Storm Lake M&P barrel. Doing some research it seems that a lot of people using the 115gr CMJ can't load them much past 1.150", but I'm not sure how the different ogive will do. Thinking that if I max out at 1.150" I need to start @ 6.6gr or so. I have seen some mentions of a 124gr CMJ @ 1.145" with 6.8gr making 174PF, and with my pistol I think I need to get around 170PF to get the comp working (YHM 3 port).

Makes sense to me! I am going to run 9mm major, figured I would zero at 15 yards as to split the difference.
-
Where do y'all zero your optics to? I am working on an my first open gun and have never used optics on a handgun. Our long shots are roughly 25 yards out. BTW I am using a Burris Fastfire...

Great start, thanks! I just so happen to have 1k PMC once-fired saved up for just such an occasion. I also have 500 Federal SPP, that should interchange with the Winchesters just fine? I was worried that I would have to use magnum primers for this. Most of my shooting is during warm to hot weather. Is the AC temperature sensative? I will have to research which of these powders meter well from the Lee Auto Disk as that is all I have. Also, I need to check the Storm Lake barrel to make sure it will take a round loaded that long. Guess I should buy some bullets (wish I could find a smaller quantity to test with).

Sorry, looking for major PF

Never messed with a comp'd barrel, but I picked up an M&P 9mm 4.25" with a comp. I had dismal success loading 125gr lead with HP38 for my 9mm Pro so I got rid of most of my bullets. Can anyone make me a recommendation for a minor PF load using HP38 (I have a ton, use it will my .45 loads). Should I be using plated/jacketed rounds with the comp? Only thing I have like that is wwb... Thanks in advance!!!

I have had a few PF9's, use as a BUG. Anyways, last weekend I ran some 125gr LRN COL was 1.125". Ran just fine for me.

I broke the same finger a few years back right at the knuckle, still have no feeling in that finger.

I hate it when I don't practice then show up at a match and blow it. I really bombed today and it was due to not shooting for several weeks. It didn't help that I was squared with one of those know-it-all I'm perfect and here are your numerous flaws kinda guys. I can shoot a stage poorly and laugh it off, but this guy really ruined my already downhill day. Long story short: practice so you can out shoot the jerk! End rant...

I need some help with a 9mm load that is giving me poor accuracy in my M&P 9 Pro. It has been 100% reliable for over 300 rounds and is fairly clean, but I am getting 6" groups at 25 yards off a rest. With a certain factory load I have gotten 2" consistent groups from this pistol so I don't think it is me or the gun. Here are my load specs: 125gr LRN (Lane and 2 Alpha yielding same results) 4.0gr HP38 1.143 COL Federal SPP Mixed once-fired brass 1052 FPS average over the chrono at 10' I am loading on a Lee Classic Turret press with Lee carbide dies. I am using the FCD but not crimping at all with the seating die. I don't get to shoot often so it is kinda disappointing to show up with a load that fires like crud! Any suggestions on how to make this a more accurate combo?

Odd pro auto disk drops

Maybe I can chamfer the edge of the hole in the disk. It will inrease the capacity slightly, but maybe it will eliminate buildup in this area and give me better consistentcy? -

David, the shelf idea is what I was considering. I have had that issue with the lee micrometer charge bar in the past. What can I do to correct the issue? -
I am looking for a relatively hot load for use in a .45 carbine. I am using 230gr LRN (unknown manufacturer) and HP38. Now Hodgdon lists 5.3gr as max but I have seen other sources all the way up to 6.0gr. I am going for a COL of 1.250" in once fired Winchester brass and Remington SPP. Has anyone run this load in the 5.5-5.7gr range?
-
I have been using the auto disk pro for a while now and have always gotten good throws using HP38. Last night I was cooking up a load requiring 5.4gr and I settled on the 53cc hole. I threw 10 charges and they all came out 5.4th on the chili. Started loading and weighed every 5 throws just to be safe as I am near the top end of this particular load. Got to round 11 and weighed it: 5.7gr! I double checked that on another scale. So I threw another charge and got 5.4 again. Threw several more at 5.4, but randomly about every 8-10 throws I get 5.7. I took the hopper off to see if powder was collecting on top of the disk thinking that must be where the extra charge is coming from but I found no evidence that it was happening. Any idears on this? As I stated before I have always had good results with this powder and the pro auto disk in the past.

So far I am having good luck with the following in an M&P 9 Pro: 125gr LRN 4.0gr HP38 1.143" OAL Rem SPP Haven't had any ignition issues with the APex comp kit.
-
I haven't been marking mine, but I am loading rather light minor loads so I haven't found a reason to track it. If I see a questionable piece I chuck it as I have plenty of brass to use. Most of the 9mm guys at the matches I attend use factory ammo so I get a good supply of once fired.
-
Well the 5.0gr @ 1.125" proved reliable but a bit snappy for me. I am going to try some with 4.8gr which has done well with my 200gr LRNFP loads although I load those at 1.195" OAL. To recap: 230gr Lead RN 4.8gr HP38 OAL 1.125" Rem LPP Sound like a winner?

I hate shooting with clubs that take several days, even weeks, to post match results. I have shot with a local club twice now and the first time it was 2 weeks before they posted the match results! It is going on 4 days this time without scores and we only had 30 shooters and 6 stages. This is the only reason I have not chosen to become a club member. Grrr!

I loaded some Lane 125gr LRN out to 1.145" and had zero feed problems with 500 rounds.
-
I had considered a shorter OAL, but on my first test batches I saw a large increase in velocity with an OAL of 1.125 and 1.130. Those rounds were rather snappy but I didn't test accuracy...
-
Ok I shot 150 of these loads yesterday without a hitch. A little dirtier than factory ammo but not too bad. Here is my problem so far: I shot from my rest at 25yrds and was getting a 3" group consistently. Now it was 20+ wind gusts but I have shot 1" groups using a factory ammunition in this pistol so I know it can do it. I had a friend run it and he got the same results. Here is the load being used it my M&P 9 Pro 5": Bullet: Lane 125gr LRN Case: Winchester/Blazer mix Primer: Federal SPP Powder: HP38 @ 4.0gr OAL: 1.143" Crimp: 0.379" Average MV over 10rds: 1050 fps measured at 10' Any idears on how to squeeze some more accuracy outta this load? Maybe try seating at 1.135" OAL?
-
I found that at 1.130 I was running an average of 1171 FPS, but at 1.143 I slowed down to 1050 FPS giving me an average PF of 130 which is perfect. I have only run 20 of these but had no issues. This weekend I will run a hundred and test for accuracy and cleanliness.

I may have had too much polish. I have run maybe 4 batches. I noticed the last batch wasn't neatly as bad so I guess I am ok now...

I use this cheap Franford Arsenal kit, corn cob media with about a tablespoon of the included polish
