  1. I might have been able to get 23 but 22 was tight with the stock spring and followers. I always ran 21 at matches.

Out of curiosity, have you gauged your mags? To fit the gauge, I had to do a bit of filing on the ones with TTI bases and the one I have with a Springer Base.

  2. I just added Grams springs and followers to my mags with TTI base pads. One holds 23 comfortably and one is a bit tight.

Today I live fire tested starting and reloading 23 +1 a couple of times and they ran fine. I do use the heavier recoil spring ( 14,15lb?) and 130pf ammo.

I will do more testing before considering using in a match. However, More important is

Lowsc3 bringing up that it may "easily bend the ejector". Yes, that's a hugh concern I didn't consider.

I have a P320rx with an X5 grip module and was thikng about the XTG module. I will be using it to shoot Carry Optics division in USPSA. Any reviews? I would not be able to use the extended mag well, so I would like to gather information to see if its worth it for me to try?

    Thank You

I have a P320rx with an X5 grip. Then I got an X5Legion. I liked the Legion better right off the bat. I liked the additional weight mostly. However, twice I've had to switch to the RX in a match. I was worried since I only practice with the Legion. But, both times, I was very surprised that it didn't matter. Although I could feel the weight difference, they shot the same. I can't say it made a bit of difference in the match.

That said, if I didn't have the Legion, I would have put the XTG grip on the RX. Just  because I like to fiddle. So...

  4. I was born and raised in Texas surrounded by family and friends that are gun enthusiasts, mostly hunters and defensive carriers. Up until 6-7 years ago, I (nor anyone I know) had never heard of games like USPSA or IDPA or Steel Challenge.

Coastal Bend Shooters (CBS) has a monthly USPSA and Steel Challenge match in Corpus.

I believe there is a USPSA club or two in the valley but have not shot there.

It appears that there are 3 (slightly) different PSA lowers for Glock magazines.   Differences appear to be minor.

#1.  Model PA-X9 easily identified by three holes in the trigger guard.  This lower is manufactured by New Frontier for PSA.  Proprietary parts for this lower can be purchased from NFA.  This is a billet lower.

#2. This model does not have the three holes in the trigger guard and the ejector has less meat to it compared to the PA-X9.  At first glance it appears to be the same ejector found in their Colt magazine lowers.  It also appears to use the same NFA magazine catch as #1.  This is a forged lower.

#3. Appears to be identical to #2 but includes LRBHO.

There are also differences in mag wells.

    Bill

They offer a tuned(?) trigger EPT version on lowers. I'm wondering if it is worth it or resign to adding an improved one. Hyper Fire?

    ----------

The PSA EPT trigger starts with a polished mil-spec style single stage trigger assembly and micro-polishes the contact surfaces.  The trigger then gets an electroless nickel coating to assist in wear resistance and lubricity.  The result is a very satisfying single stage trigger.

My shooting buddy brought a Palmetto Arms Glock-mag gun to my range today.  He ran a wide range of factory and re-loaded ammo through it, and it ran great.  He had to shoot the last round from some loads, but we should be able to solve this with the right OAL/bullet shape.

Do you know which lower he selected? How was the trigger?

  7. That was an interesting stage start. It seems like a no brainer that the door must to be closed. That is the way the stage was designed and reset by the RO before each shooter. A shooter can't go around changing the stage at the "Make Ready" command. Or can he...

I've been thinking of trying a different Division.  Before the mag capacity change, I only considered SS or PCC, as CO was too similar to Prod.  Now CO with a 320 X5 might also be on the table.  Decisions, decisions...

Yep decisions, decisions. So many Divisions, so many guns, so little time, so little money. You need to retire and shoot full time. Larry sold the X5 this morning.

  9. Chris, There is a reason why PCC is much more popular than Carry Optics so far. PCC shooters have much more fun.

Now you take a Production shooter like yourself that turns to PCC - with all those rounds in a gun it must be like pure joy - what heaven feels like.

    Good luck.

It seems like the mag well base is External....

Until you file it and make it Internal.

From NROI - my note included these images I posted above.

The changes you note are not considered to be external flaring."

  12. Do you need the app on your iphone and iPad?

If you can move videos from one device to the other, you don't need the app on both devices. You can use the app on the iPad to edit and analyze video from any source as long as you can get the video onto the iPad.

Do you record thru the app or just as regular video?

Both. You can use the App to record or transfer a video taken via your iPhone's or iPad's regular camera system.

I transfer videos from my PC to iPad using Dropbox.

  13. Here are my results using Prima V for the first time.

    CZ 75 Shadow 9mm

    147gr SNS Flat Point .356

Mixed Cases, WSP Primer - Also tested Tula Primers and got same results.

    OAL 1.145

    3.2g Prima V - Batch # PB16055

    Avg 849 FPS

    124 PF (124.8)

    SD 8.03

    ES 32

    High 862 fps / 126pf

    Low 830 fps / 122pf

    I'll bump up to 3.4.

I normally load using VV N320. 3.3gr gives me 894 fps / 132pf with the same bullet and OAL.

  14. Just a little. The back of the lips touched the gauge a little and there was a little light where the back of the mag should touch the gauge. Hardly noticeable. Yours might fit. as is.

  15. Maybe there should be an online course plus local certification by a local CRO or RM. The local part could take place at a local match or two. Maybe some pre-match instruction then during match observation and instruction. One could get certified pretty much anytime there is a match and CRO or RM available.

Just got done shooting.  I really like the dot.  On the timer, I am a little slower, but not as much as I figured... Especially having very little dry fire with it.

I did max out the elevation on the dot.  I guess having it high on the mount made it necessary to bring the dot way down.  It's still shooting a hair low at 25, but close enough.  Anyone else have this happen?

How far off was it from your bore sighting?

  17. This is what I've tried in order...

Sig P320RX Romero 1 - I liked the large screen. However, the 3 MOA dot, although nice and bright, was too small for me.

Burris FastFire III - I had my CZ Shadow Slide Milled for the FFIII. I liked the 8 MOA dot better than 3 MOA but it may be a bit too large - or the window is too small. I prefered the larger window of the Romero1.

Vortex Viper 6 MOA - I wanted to try a dot with a larger window and a slightly smaller dot. However, I had to select a unit that fit my slide (milled for the Burris FF III) so I got a Viper.

So far, I like the Viper's 6 MOA dot and the larger window (over the FF III). But I was surprised at how much I REALLY like the lower profile of the Viper. If I bring the gun up and see the slide, I know it's a very small move down to get the dot. The FastFire III rides higher, if the dot doesn't come up, I have a harder time fishing for it.  The wider screen on the Viper has eliminated the dot being lost to the side for me (so far). Of course, I just got the Viper, dry fired with it once and shot it at range once, so, I'm still testing. But, so far, Viper is the winner... for now. One downside of the Viper is that you have to remove it from the slide to change the battery.

I thought about waiting for the Venom in 6 MOA as it has an even wider window but it is a bit shorter but I'm not very patient. It also has a wider window which is good but not as tall as the Viper.

Was this checked on a gage? I was just wondering if this combo is the same length as using the short CZ Custom base that is not in stock.

Yes, the Taran Tactical TTI +2 CZ Base Pad (CZBP940-00) with the 18 round CZC tube does fit the gauge. I bought it because CZC was out of stock on their base. The website I bought it from did say it would fit the gauge. I did have to file the back lips on the tube a tiny bit.

He means base pads, not followers.

There are three 140 pads on the market, designed for the three different length tubes:

-16 round tube (CZC long pad)

    -17 round tube (Springer pad)

-18 round tube (CZC short pad)

Any other combo will not get you a USPSA legal 141.25mm mag.  The best you can get in a CZ 75 140mm mag is 23+1.

You can also use the Taran Tactical TTI +2 CZ Base Pad (CZBP940-00) with the 18 round CZC tube. - 23+1 with the CZC Spring/Follower kit

And Stuart just mentioned a new base pad CZC has for the 17 round tube in production.
