  1. Do you require the timing results to be within the video?

I use the Android App, IPSC Shot Timer and hold it up to the speakers when watching a video. It lists the time as well as the split for each shot the a summary of each shot is available.

Maybe you can video the video of you shooting and the shot timer screen at the same time.

  2. I did contact Winchester on their website about why primers did not come in tubes. They responded that it is safer to ship in trays then in tubes. Impressed that they even answered my question and quickly as well.

I'm wondering why primers just don't come in tubes/straws instead of the little trays. It would save us all a lot of time.

    you'll poke your eye out!!

  3. There was a stage at Space City with a Texas Star and a couple of plates. I planned an extra reload IF I had 2-3 misses. I shot the steel clean and it so stunned me I couldn't decide what I was supposed to do. That fraction of time thinking made me miss my next position so I had to shoot targets in a different order and backtrack a step or two to get another target. Should have just planned the reload and done it. Would not have cost much time since I was moving anyway.

Now, better shooters have much more refined skills so maybe they can make alternate plans and adjustments without negative results.
  4. I remember watching a video of top shooters at a match and one did say he had an alternate plan on a stage if X was to happen.

I've tried it many times, mostly on stages with steel. Just a basic, if I have more than 2 misses, do an extra reload. It's not worked well for me. Having to evaluate if X happens then do Y takes up more time than just throwing in an extra reload dispite misses or no misses. Especially if the reload can be done while moving. Might be still faster to take a slide lock reload while standing still.

However, I hear women are better at multi tasking then men. So...

  5. I've read that this is the case with some "better shooters". If the gun does not go off, the shooter will automatically push forward and down on the gun looking like a flinch. I've heard it applied to "better shooters" but no names in particular.

If the pro shooter is pushing forward to counter the recoil, wouldn't a surprise light strike result in a lurch forward?

  6. I emailed Roze Dist to back order .40 180g JHP. They responded that they would. That was on 03/01. No bullets yet.

Received an email from Roze that they could fill my backorder. I called to give them my CC info. Hope to see them soon.

  7. Since the weak hand is the weak hand... One has to focus more on weak hand pressure (squeezing it harder) giving you a feeling of say 70/30 when, in reality it only gets the weak hand to the same level as the strong hand - thus it's 50/50.

I've found "trying" to get a firmer grip on the gun causes the sights to be off and hard (slow) transition target to target. So, as CP mentioned, building grip strength so you grip the gun harder without trying is key. Maybe work more on the weak hand strength than strong hand?

Did any respond with 50/50 and were correct?

    Nope

  8. You also have to compete with a lot of other matches/clubs in the area each month so that adds to the ammo shortage problem. Personally, I'd cut back on the number of matches I attend in favor of the matches that offer higher round counts and more stages (say 6 stages, 150 rounds).

  9. Max makes it look so easy.

What a match. Our squad was lucky that we were able to shoot the whole match in one day. Today it rain and when I went out to the range today I was glad that we had finished. A big THANK YOU to Alex, his range staff and all the RO's. They worked there tails off all day and also in the rain and mud today.

Here is a video of the match winner. I am sure you know who it is.

    More later.

  10. I'd also like to thank all the RO's at the match. It was a ROing under some pretty tough conditions. The wind constantly blowing downing props, paper targets and poppers and re shoots. We heard many stop commands throughout the stages. Scoring targets was especially difficult in the mud and muck on Sunday. Some of you guys looked pretty haggard and worn out at the end of it all. Just wanted to say thanks for an excellent job.

  11. I feel for you. You've got to really want it with those conditions. I'd be looking for another hobby.

How about Airsoft in your back yard, lots of dryfire, local range once a week for transistion and long range shooting skills and staying connected to live fire (can you shoot multiple targets there?) and consider driving the 2 hours at least once a week to the range where you can use a bay.

  12. I just started using Hornady Case Lube for 9mm and it's made a hugh difference on my Hornady LNL. I spray the lube along the sides of a large zip lock bag, pour in some brass, shake it around a bit then dump it in the case feeder. Also, Federal primers made primer seating much easier for 9mm cases.

I don't use it for .40 because I run these cases through a GRX full sizing die and lube didn't help the press run any better. I think I might try the lube and skip the GRX tedious process.

  13. Which roller handle did you get?

    This one maybe?

I made two changes in my loading process lately. First, I started lubing my 9mm brass with Lanolin and HEET Iso, made a HUGE difference. I was getting an arm workout!

Second, and most importantly, I bought the cheapest roller handle attachment on EBay I could find. HOLY COW, how did I ever live without this little thing! For $18 my loading life has changed... I'm 6'4" 240 pounds and in fairly good shape, but pulling the handle on my LnL is light night and day now compared to before.
