  1. I have been running Talyor Freelance 140mm extensions at plus 6 in 9mm and plus 5 in 40S&W. They never dis-assemble themselves, but take a little more effort to pop apart them Arrendondos or Dawsons. The difference in Glock mags is not model based, but frame based. Full size is a G17 which fits the G34/G17L. G19 is midsized, G26 is compact, but a G17 mag will fit both. And uppers can be changed common to a G17/G22/G34/G35/G17L/G24/G31 because the frames are all identical except for the ejector and extractor, 9mm and 40S&W mags are the same external/internal dimensions except for the feed lips. G17 upper will not fit a G19.

  2. Bullet setback is more common than a double charge, especially on an auto progressive, like a Dillon 650. When the overall length goes down from 1.170" to 1.000", the pressure goes up about 3.5 times, much greater than SAAMI specifications. Lets say you had some rounds with insufficient crimp loaded near the bottom of the mag, each time you pull the trigger, the bullet setbacks more, by the you get that one chambered, it could be dangerously short.

  3. I have carried a G19 since 1992, and shot it in IDPA for a few years, but the G17/G34 is a far better game gun. These days it's just USPSA and 3 gun, so I mostly use the G34, with 3 G17's as a backup. I also carry one of the G17's.

  4. So after 44 years of shooting competition in different venues, I finally decided to get test for lead. And to be factual, I have averaged a competition match every weekend, or more often, for the last 14 years, all outdoors. Anyway, the level is 12. You can only get lead in your system by breathing it in, or ingesting it. Lead will not go thru your skin. I am now using lead wipes after handling the steel, and after every match before eating. I expect a reduction in level count when I next get tested in 3 months.

  5. When you go pretty much every weekend, like Norco Running Gun, you get to know everyone at the local level, and end up shooting with your buddies. In my case,it's mostly higher classified shooters, but I always try to bring new people into the game to keep it going. As long as they don't do anything to scare me, and help out taping/setting, everyone is good. Personally I learn more by watching the GM's on video after the match than during.

  6. I've shot tens of thousands of Precision Bullets and Bear Creek (moly) bullets thru my G17's running on top of 4.0 grains of TiteGroup at 1.160" overall. They smoke allot, and do leave some heavy residue which I clean about every 500 to 1,000 rounds (bore snaked after every match). At they end of the day, I think you save $10-$20 per thousand over Montana Gold. Even though I have fitted BarSto's for the G17's, the factory barrels are far easier to clean. For the big matches I use the Montana Golds...

  7. Glock doesn't really care how you wreck a gun, they will cut you a deal on a new one, last time I called was about $275, probably higher now. Recently had a couple of bumps with my G17 running 115 grain bullets in front of 4.0 grains of TiteGroup, several of the rounds were at least .125" to deep in the case and one was almost all the way in. Pitched out as many as I saw, but a couple got thru and you could definitely feel it.

  8. Dave, that's because you are special! Your squad only has 9, and it is full.... Maybe Taran will decide decide to grace your squad. Then you have both the Open and Limited Champions to contend with. I don't know why you wanted to leave our Squad 3, after all, we get to shoot long range rifle LAST! on Sunday morning at 8am, so we will have all the mojo and stage math going. Oops, too late, Squad 3 is now full.
