i am loading 115 RN winchesters with 4.5 gn of w231 and cci primers. the gun shoots factory loads fine. except for light strikes everyonce in a while. i have a failer to eject about every 25 rounds.i think i might need more powder. i am going to load 4.8 grains and see if that helps.the gun wasnt feeding at first but got the chamber reemed out a little and polished it now it feeds pretty good. the problems now are light primes and failer to eject. i switched out the springs in the gun. i replaced them with 17 lb main spring 9lb recoil. i believe the recoil spring came with the firing pin spring. which spring is most responsible for the light strikes? i like the springs in the gun so wouldnt want to switch them back. i dont care about the firing pin spring as much as the other two unless i have to have it in conjunction with the others. could i stretch the main spring a little and give it a little more umph or is that a bad idea? my buddy has a 18 lb he would let me try but i dont know how that would change the feel of my trigger and etc. now he says he cut two coils off of his 18 lb and it will still fire rifle primers so maybe thats not the problem. it does this with factory and reloads. so i dont think that high primers is necessarly the problem. i am determined to get this gun running 100% but need some help. i welcome any advice anyone has. maybe some good clean recipes for reloads, w231 is kinda dirty.
