The tip that hits the primer
-
I did try an extra power Glock striker spring in mine and it worked fine for about 2 months and then the striker broke. When back to the original. Bad striker or too strong of spring? Not sure what caused it

I like the look of the new one in the DVC open. I just bought one of the extreme shooters DVC grip to put on my open gun. I thought it looked much better then the regular polymer grip. Idk why sti doesn’t develop their own metal grip. Could have used the same design as this new one, just metal. They did it in the past, although they had problems with them cracking prematurely. But if all these other companies can do it, and everyone is ditching the stock plastic grip for metal they might as well listen to the market. Plastic grips are out, except for people like me who don’t have 600 bucks to spend on a grip.
Some people don’t like really heavy guns.

Could be a great entry level limited gun if it’s offered in .40

It’s impossible to justify. Sell the mediocre gun and buy something from CZ or Wlather or Glock or...
None of the other polymer guns the M&P line competes with are in need of a $200 barrel to be able to stay inside the A-zone at 25yd with 147s. The fact that we all casually pay that tax due to their glaring design flaw? That is ridiculous.
Even after the Apex barrel, both of my Walthers (Q5 and ordinary PPQ) shoots an equally tight group, right there with my old M&P Pro around 2” at 25.
I sold all of mine and do not miss them. $200 tax to make it shoot straight, and they didn’t really adress it when they overhauled them with the 2.0? No thanks.
But I shoot my M&Ps better then my CZ’s or my Glock and I can Buy 2 M2.0s with triggers and Dawson Sights for less then the of either one of my CZs. At that point a barrel that cost about the same as an entry fee for some major matches is pretty easy to justify if it needed

I don't disagree, but I just prefer the M&P platform and the Apex barrel converts it from a mediocre shooter to a tack driver that outshoots most other guns at almost any price. The others have their own problems too; for example, Glocks don't like lead bullets (unless you upgrade to the Gen5). S&W fixed the accuracy issue with the M2.0 and that is what I would have recommended, but the OP already has Pro.
Plus a M2.0 can be had for $400 plus a $50 rebate (recently expired) for a grand total of $350. About half the price of a Walther or Gen 5 G34.

I would do the RIA, just because the thumb safety is easier to use/reach
-
Could always look around for a used Para double stack or Buy a Rock Island High Cap
-
I would replace it with a Dawson if the bulb on the fiber rod isn’t counter-sunk into the sight to get rid of the halo effect. If it is just get a new rod. Not sure what the dovetail cut is though
-
Anybody ever tried to weld up the frame rails then file them back down to get rid of the side to side movement? Sear blocks and locking locks are cheap to replace if you screw up, assuming you can find replacements
-
Started watching it on a Sat night. Finished it by Sun night. Great series! My love of westerners is probably part of the reason my fiancé says I have an old soul! Lol
-
Complete slide w/Dawson fixed sights, barrel and guide rod removed I’m at 13.55 oz
-
It probably wouldn’t cost very much to just have the front sight removed and have a dovetail cut into it.

I defy thought about building one of these

Thanks for the info. It's helpful to know what's going on with the company and good to know that people there actually care about what they're doing. Hopefully you can turn it around.
I agree 100%. I bought a new edge a couple years ago, gun runs great but it seemed kind of loose for what they cost. I shoot with a bullseye shooter that bought a DVC and he though the same thing. He also has a custom 2011, I have also have CZ shadow and a M&p with an apex barrel and all 3 of the non STI guns group as good or better that both the Edge and DVC. With most of the new STI guns in the $3k area they should group like a bullseye gun. There a lot of custom builders that will build a custom 2011 for that price that are extremely accurate

I’m tempted to buy one of their short block kits
-
There used to be aftermarket aluminum Glock frames, but don’t think there was much demand for them.
-
Just buy an apex barrel and be done with it, unless you already have the mags and all the other equipment your not going to change platforms for the cost of a barrel. Glock is the probably the most popular platform on the market and most competitive shooters change the barrels in those
-
Isnt the slide release pretty much identical on both sides of the gun?
-
I think this video is addressing issues with the FSS kits where trigger has far less overtravel than the production legal AEK kit
-
Usually a dead trigger is caused by having the old style sear block with the small sear spring. Sear blocks are cheap, but if your really cheap you could always drill it out to accept the new larger spring.
-
I payed $1700 for mine nib w/Dawson sight about 9 months ago off Gunbroker, so if I were to sell it I would be happy to get 1500 used.

My 930 has been a sub-par gun even for a gun in that price range. I haven't shot it much but it has had FTE, light strikes, and ftf issues. Never had any problems with my M2. Even my old stoeger m2000 has been a much better gun then the 930.
