Take your AR to South Dakota and thin out the praire dog population.

Garret dude, lay off the crack and smoke some weed, mellow out.

One of the main concerns voiced on the ride home by the "iron sight shooters" was long range target presentation. Any time you have white targets on a light or gray background they disappear for the iron shooters, especially when the sun gets behind them. This can be attenuated by color of target and putting up a contrasting background. I shoot a scope so not as big an issue but I have seen instances where it affected the performance of the shooter and outcome of the match.
We also discussed the idea of using self resetting steal for long pistol shots. It has the benefit of faster scoring and reset time, shooter knowing they have hit the target, and less RO fatigue. RM3G has done this in the past.
Having consistant ROing is one of the hardest things to attain in any match but particularly in IMGA matches. Most of the RO staff have a background in USPSA, IDPA or even NRA Action. They bring with them "baggage" from their experence and training that does not apply in IMGA. They read into a stage description or create penalties that are not there. You will never have perfect officiating, humans are involved after all, but a good reminder to the staff that these are the rules for this match don't try to add your own would be prudent.
Would like to add that the 2800 mile ride was enjoyable and my laughing muscles are still sore. Keith

Monday morning and tring to get the rest of the crew up for the 16 hr. drive home. Outstanding match!!!! Granted there were a few backups but worth it for the quality of the stages, imho. The AMU sets a high standard for the wow factor and the "props" but the stages would stand alone without the dressing. I was blessed with the best RO staff there is on stage seven (Mike, Trapr, and Kelly) along with our Army gunsmith James who went above and beyond to make the stage run smooth. My thanks to all the AMU and the Army in general for making this THE match of the year.

Your killing me, June 6-8 is wheat harvest. I've shot the previous 2 matches but doubt I can swing this one. Think you need to reconsider timing, it will be hot in June, bugs, and June is the wettest month of the year. Thanks for putting on the match just wish it were earlier.

Shameless promotion, tisk, tisk.

From what I have heard surprised you found enough water to float a boat. OK 400 with my rifle how far with another one? Hope someone mounts a demolition misson on that bridge, Joe should have that stuck someplace!

There can be carbon build up inside the first chamber in front of the threads. This chamber doesn't have a port so gets all the unburnt powder and builds up carbon very quickly (as few as 400 rnds.) I had one "ticking" the bullet and about drove me nuts before I found the problem.

Have turned down a 18" heavy barrel (.850 under the HG) took off .135 so down to .715 saved a lot of weight and didn't hurt it one bit. Still shoots under 1/2 min groups with good ammo.

Had 1 good stage (long range) the rest was ho-hum or worse. Lot of left over limited nats stages, to close for pistol much less rifle. Lots of low ports and hoser stages. Not my kind of 3 gun but it was what it was. Great RO's and the stages ran on time except for the long range which had 300+ yd. paper (will they never learn). Facility is nice but the parking sucks and they need to set up a shuttle system to the stages, packing 3 guns and equipment upto 3/4 of a mile is insane.
-
The 300 yd. range is pretty protected from all directions, even in a 20 mph wind doubt you would have to hold much wind. Went out this afternoon and shot in the same conditions, no problem.

I got between 17K to 20K out of my last 20" 1 in 7 mil spec Bushmaster. Replaced it over the summer with a 18" 1 in 8 chrome lined. Should have another 3 or so years of shooting. Chrome all the way!

Guess I'm a bit late with this, but for the left handed a Stag arms left hand model would be nice. You can trick it out as you wish or just build additional uppers for different purposes. I'm in the heavy bullet crowd 69's for anything over 300 and 77's for those over 600. Last time out in May got three in a row at 615 yd. with a 1 in 8 twist 24 in. AR.

We had the same trouble at OKC last weekend. Had to tape down the pasters. Caused a lot of freebees.

Its nice when the big fish come for a swim at the local pond, sure screws the curve for us B class shooters.

The trick to using the 2032 in a Meopta is to use a nickel on top of the battery.

Benny, some of us can see our belt and some of us can't.

Tim, I agree it is a great way to segregate your slugs and shot. I used the roll method for years and will still use it if the stage design requires it, ie: 180 issues. The side saddle on my SX2 isn't in the way with the front 4 shells gone so intend to leave it there. Keith

Larry, he has been up there a while, think he's sick of sheep. Hell by now a Texan might even look good to him.

Kurt, you have a clip where you load 8 in around 6 flat from the 06 Benning match. I know cause I gave it to you. We won't talk about the next 8 but the first one is sweet. It was Mike's favorite shotgun stage of the match.

As others have alluded to "buy once cry once". Get the best you can afford, don't be afraid to buy used, you can really up your glass quality that way. From the sound of it you'll want turrets so you can dial up for longer and different ranges also consider a 20 moa base if shooting to 1000yd. Look at IOR, Leupold, Nightforce, US optics these will all do the job.

If available I'll always check my zero, haven't had to change it yet for 3 gun. You mentioned extended mount, if this is one of those that attaches to a rail on the hand guard and the upper reciever (bridges the barrel nut) than I'd bet that is the problem. Have seen these wander all over the place.

Just got Hughes Sat. this spring after 11 years of dialup and 3 different providers last one was earthlink gag, choke, puke! My installer was ok but did adjust after he left and got another 15 points of signal. The 200 mb. of download FUP (fair use policy) sucks and have told them as much. They don't make it easy to find out about it either. But all said my service has been good and will keep it till something better or cheaper is available. I hate Sprint and they have a cell tower 1 mile from the farm, they are just so hard to deal with. The fiber optic Cox cable runs right by the house but won't let me on. Merlin welcome to my world.

Couple of suggestions:
1. Elevated shooting platform.
2. Pay off the Osage indian chief that keeps the medicine man dancing.
How many of you have a backup rifle?

Depending on the match (round count and conditions) I have hauled an extra rifle, even used it once. Usually will take an extra carrier group and gas block with gas tube attached. Been known to take an extra scope cause guys will run over them.![:surprise:](//content.invisioncic.com/r270761/emoticons/default_surprise.gif)
