I will add that with 8 divisions and 6 classes each plus overall it is easy to spend big money on crappy awards for a L2+ match.
The cheep ones are like $7 each and nice ones are well over $20.

Mike, you might be correct but where I live when stopped by a local trophy shop I was surprised at how inexpensive awards cost. Even the awards that look like they are Glass that has been engraved, they don't cost much.

Take an Area match, I think its about $200.00 or so to enter and if they wanted they could have offered really nice awards. If you charge $200.00 for a match and offer less than 15 stages, then maybe have some nice awards for the winners.  Everyone can say how much work goes into putting on these matches and the high cost to have one. Yes, I understand all this but the shooter also spends quite a bit of money with the entry, travel, food, hotel and the time off work not to mention the cost for the equipment and training to even have a chance to receive an award. I'll say some clubs do give some very nice awards. I also see the awards given ar IPSC matches and I see how they can do it and we can't? Thanks.

  2.    I will add that now the national Champion may get a watch. . BRAZEN has stepped in and added that.  That's a cool thing.

Im not asking if you want or thank awards are important:  im saying if you are going to go give awards why can't they be something worth having on display?

Our sport is not as insignificant as the plaques would make others think. I was ask "if after all the training and money you spent to win, is this plaque is all you have to show fit it" I said yep and my satisfaction of knowing I did. It and It just got me thinking. That's why I made the post.

  3.    The USPSA is really an amature sport we can't say we shoot for the money, we can't w e do it for the girls and fame. So why do we travel, dry fire & practice and want to get better?  Egos ? Or is it just a drive we have?

Many shooters have said they  have a box of old plaques that they will never display so why not offer something the shooters would be proud to display above the fire place? Nothing like a $500.00 crystal egg or such. Maybe just something more than these plaques every match has deemed standard issue awards for the uspsa shooters at a level II and up event?  I talking about something actually worthy of being on display. It can't be the money because with the price of the matches these days and for profit matches it can't be the money, the greed maybe but we pay enough to warrant a better return for shooting great than $5 plaque.   No partisapation awards. Just  the top 3 in class and forget the rest, no matter the number of shooters in each class.

  4. Pick up a good sear and have a gunsmith look at your hammer hooks to make sure they are a crisp 90%. If not you can buy a good hammer like the (Doug) Koenig hammer. These hammers are always cut correctly or have your smith stone the hammer hooks to a smooth and perfect 90% edge. Good luck.

Are any of the top shooters using sight trackers?

Yes sir, Chris Tilley, Bill Drummond, Andrew Hyder and i would say most all the SV shooters run them. Max shoots a Badell and i'm not sure if his gun does or does not.  Lots a very good shooters run the Schuemann Hybrid (island) barrels in their customs. Good luck.

  6.     Schuemann Barrels are at the top of the food chain. They used to be the only barrel company that made the Hybrid (island syle) barrels. Now SV also makes an Island (Hybrid style) barrel. KKM barrels are know to be fast barrels but on my last 3 guns I went with Schuemann Barrels in both my Limited and the Hybrid for my OPEN guns. I have never  had the first complaint with vey decission to go with Schuemann's.  I have no knowledge on the EGW barrels. CHEERS

  7. My gunsmith and I did a trigger job on my new open gun and we settled at just back of 2lbs.

Then after a few thousand round It got to where 1 out of 50 or so rounds would not set off the Winchester

primers but I didn't eem to have any issues with CCI. So just to make sure the primers would ignite I went from a15lb mainspring to a 19lb and the 19 does slam the hammer pretty hard so I think I'm going to try a 17lb to see if I can find that happy medium. I did order some federal primers but I won't have then untill the NC sectional after that I'll be set with Federal SPP for a few years. Even this the 19lb mainspring I still have a crisp 2lb trigger pull.  Good luck.

  8. I looked high and low for a mag release button (not drilled and tapped) that was serrated for my 2011.   Glenn Rasch @ Lone Star Innovations added the serration on the gun he built for and I never even ask him to add the serrarions for me. I think he saw my hack job on my old gun and decided if I am going to be sporting one of his LSI guns he may as well add then so that they look professional. Lol

as for your issue the Dawson mag release is a great choice but you might solve your issues with just a new spring. Thanks

When you put mattburkett in this list, you discredit the rest. And not a one on that list cuts their own slide in house that i know of.

Just because you don't like someone (Matt) doesn't mean they can't do something they have already done many times. Plus if you're under the impression that any name I mensioned can't or doesn't manufacture some of their own slide you are mistaken, again. Thanks

  10. If I was looking at either of these guns they would be used and with that added to the equation I would see who has the best warranty. Now if I did go the new gun route again warranty would play a huge part in my decision. Both are great guns but warranty trumps most talk.

What DirtChevy hasn't told you is that he has already gone on gunbuilder and spec'd out an IMM gun...........He will have just taken delivery of this Limited gun and he will be building a single stack just because he can........muuuaaaahhhhh!!!

I warned Bobby that this would happen. I can't wait to hear about his new heater when he gets it. I am betting that he will love it, and squeeze it and call it George!!! Or something like that.........

    Lmao, that's just funny stuff!!

    Update to my original post...

Shockingly, flip & catch works great with a Tanfoglio for a lefty, too.

Honestly the key to not pissing RO's off by catching your ejected round is to then hold the gun open and let them see. To unload per their commands.

It's the flipcatchhammerdownholster guy who gets their backs up, along with the ones who habitually sweep themselves or lean way over to chase errantly ejected rounds they need to just let go.

    Dont be that guy.

See that is a problem, you did nothing wrong but your scared of pissing off an RO. If in any match you are worried about pissing off an RO ( for any reason espically when they have no reason to be pissed of) you are not thinking about the match and your gonna come up short.

  13. Nope. They are close but the extractor groves are different.  It has a modified extractor grove for full case length resizing. That and it's $20.00 more per 1k from Starline.

  14. I just encountered extraction issues this past weekend shooting or trying to shoot rounds with some TJ brass with my Aftec.  I have been enjoying some extraction issues lately (new gun) so now that you bring that to my attn I will double check to see exactly which Aftec in have in her.  Thank you for the reminder Isc.
