Saw this happen at an Area match and shooter was moved to Open. Carry Optic shooter Went down for prone and mag pouches moved forward of hip, when they got up and holstered, the CRO notified them of equipment violation.

That one had to sting a little. I had my mag or pouch hit a table and move (out of compliance for SS) I engaged a popper,  reset my belt THEN moved to the next position. I did received a procedural because I engaged a popper but maybe I should have been bumped to Open.

Production shooter got hosed on the rules.  But seriously, how much arguing could he realistically do before he got DQ'd for unsportsmanlike conduct?

I seen some heightened discussions so I would think a good bit, If he knows how to argue without going all Anitfa.  Cursing, getting in someone's face or goIng nuckin futs on an RO or anyone at a match, might get someone more then they originally had in mind.  I would think after the MD was called and the argument continued he would be told to drop it or get the F off the range.  Drive safe.

  3. I watch it again and one RO's from somewhere said he saw it, when the shooter was shooting  It’s.  The shooter has a great chance of winning (good guy) but this is at the Nationals, why didn’t this RO that saw it say STOP.   I can’t see this going the same for me. 😂😂

  4. 3 mini and 3 reg poppers, mini lined up behind the larger peppers on part of a med to long course.  Shooter shoots 10 total rounds at the 6 poppers and 6 hits ring out. After the ULSC shooter tells the RO one of the mini poppers was already down. 3RO’s and one is a CRO but after 2 RO’s said they did NOT see the steel issue. What happens? Reshoot or because none of these RO’s saw the steel down, should the score and time stand?

Important EDIT; one of the RO’s said he did see it but not until the shooter was shooting at it. Does an RO  need to wait until after the shooter said the steel was down or does the RO need to call out the fallen steel issue as soon as the RO saw it?  It didn’t look like thr RO was going to say anything until he heard what the shooter was saying and then of course he saw it when it was being shot at. 2 or 3 more shots to put the last of the steel down and the shooter still needed to finish on 2 paper target to end the stage.  STOP was never said only Reshoot after the RO that was the farthest away walked up and said I noticed it when he was shooting at it.

  5. At 15yds I see the dot floating around the A-zone as I’m focused loosely on the A-zone of the target. 20yards and farther I’ll have a better or harder focus on the center of the A-zone. This will also tell me when the trigger break is clean or really, I’ll know if I jerked the trigger out the the A-zone.

Try shooting a sub 2sec bill drill with mostly A’s from 15yds with the dot off, just point shooting. Try it, you might be surprised how much you don’t need the dot inside the 15yd mark.

    Good luck.

  6. Any chance of you double checking those mags with your ammo in a friends open gun and and his in your gun?? But if a few MBX mags run then 1 would  think it’s in the mags.

    Maybe measure the mags feed

lips on the mag that function well,  then compare the measurements to the others and all (140, 155 & 170’s) the MBX should measure darn close but If not get to wackin’ those feed lip closer or opening them to meet the good mags measurements.  I’m not sure that pinching them with a vise is the answer for adjusting the lips. It might be the easiest way and maybe I need to try the vise next time, IDK.   Mag lips do NOT bend very easily.

I cover the feed lips with a cloth and measure a lot.

.  Sorry if this has been stated before in a earlier post but good luck and I’m sure you will get things rockin along soon.

    Always Optimistic!!! 👍🏼

  7. The top shooters gun are really nothing more than what anyone can get, they don’t pour pixie dust on them because it’s going to Eric, Max or George as a matter of fact Max runs a Bedell Eric ran a Tanfo and George ran an SV when they one their world championships.  Nothing more than you or I could purchase. What could be different in those world championship winning guns? Only one thing the man using the tool.

  8. I got into open when I traded my 2011 Limited gun for one gun.  So yes you can get a get gun that runs for an affordable price.  It does help to have some knowledge about the platform you choose, it doesn’t matter if it’s open or production. You need to understand how to fix the little issues that happen when you compete with mechanical tools. As far as open guns always jamming (or whatever) you will not find anyone really competitive, shooting a gun that always screw up their matches.  All my guns run, if I have an issue I figured out what’s going on and it will run before the next match I take it too. Good luck

  9. I just keep my super-comp oal simple with 1.234. I’ve run SVI, gen 1 STI and MBX w/grams guts and the MBX are what I’m going to sick with. I got my set of MBX mags when they first became available and maybe something along the line changed in manufacturing because I hear a lot of open shooters from 9 to comp are having issues with their newly purchased mags.

  10. I’m no example but when I was shooting everything within 10hours every weekend I would work on foot speed away from the gun and fundamentals with the gun.  If you have the time and desire I suggest rotating your days. This way you won’t wear yourself (hands) out with only dryfire.

Monday; do foot work and the regular agility drills with short sprints. 15 to 30 mins.

    Tuesday; dryfire 30mins

Wed; livefire. I usually shoot 3 to 400rds working on fundamentals and what I noticed in my match.

    Thurs; dryfire or agility drills

Friday;  load for the weekends match and followings weeks livefire or if you feel good just do the opposite of what you did for Thursday’s training.

Saturday; shoot a local, major match or livefire..

    Sunday; chill.

Disclaimer;  doing this with more likely than not will cause at least one of these 3 things to happen and maybe all 3 (as in my case).

    1 cause a divorce

    2 cause burn out

3 cause your to get damn good.

Decide what’s best for your situation, develop a plan and do it. Even 15mins of dryfiring fundamentals 4 or 5 days a week will make a noticeable difference in your game.

Like anything and everything,  you will get out of it what you put into it. Good luck and stay safe.

I'm a terrible example. Don't be like me.

I haven't dry fired in probably close to two years, and honestly (because of me and my wife having a baby) I haven't spent any time practicing in 8-10 months.

I think I originally classified as M, and It took me about a year or year and half to make GM? That timeline could be a little off.

About 85-90% of (my) shooting ability is somewhat like riding a bike, and doesn't take much to maintain.  However, that 10-15% is super critical, and is where the small nuances that it takes to win reside.

Plus the fact that you’re like 6.5, could have played college ball and probably run the 40 in under 5.0 might have helped? 😂

We shot the same prop at Nationals. Only more mini poppers and less paper. Timing was key but I still feel a stage like this kinda leans toward luck over skill.

If the swinger ever stopped and didn’t offering enough of available A zone from that small shooting area,  it should be a disappearing and could have been tossed.  I wonder if anyone ever see the swinger come to rest on its own. ....For us the RO would stop it, score it and we would paste and reset it.

Thanks. But below 70% is something I'd usually call a sub-par performance. But I did have big travel issues, little sleep and a head cold. Oh, and switched guns and ammo the day before I left. So I wasn't really set up to physically or mentally perform at a very high level. I think I had 50 or 60 penalty points and that's kinda sad too. hahaha

IPSC Nats is always stacked no matter your division.  Only 2 shooters broke the top 20 not shooting with a dot, Niles & Ben.

Shannon doesn’t mess around when it comes to National matches, IPSC and USPSA. Nothing that any of can’t do but doing it well at speed that’s another issue for another topic.  Don’t be to hard on yourself, learn, improve and go get em next year. That’s what it’s all about.   Good luck.
