Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The 1200 does block the two adjacent stations. It's never been a problem for me, since I load .223 in 2 stages: First stage is to Decap, Size/Trim on the 1200, and Expand the case mouth. Then back into the tumbler to remove the case lube. Second stage Primes, adds Powder, and Seats the bullet. If the bullet has a canellure, I also use the FCD to crimp.
  2. I have a LNL AP: The 1/2" mounting holes are 3 3/4" apart on center. They go a maximum of 2 1/2" centered from the edge of the mounting. If you're asking about a regular LNL, I can't help.
  3. My LNLAP has run perfectly since I bought it a year and a half ago. Still on my first case retainer spring, but I do have spares just in case.
  4. I use liquid lanolin (from Amazon) with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol in a 1:12 mix. 99% isohol is harder to find but mixes better with the lanolin. I used IsoHeet (red bottle fuel dryer) from the local auto parts store clearance table. Add a dollar-store spray bottle. Put a hundred or so cases in a gallon ziplock bag, give a few squirts, knead around, and dump out on a paper towel to dry, then load. Comes off in the tumbler with corn cob in 15 - 20 minutes.
  5. Check the Hornady site. Also, this site: linky and this: another link
  6. thanks for the update, I look forward to it.
  7. I think I have a solution for the guys running the PTX. Stay tuned. You have my attention.
  8. I reload several pistol calibers, and several rifle calibers, including .223 to feed 3 ARs. I looked at the Giraud, the Dillon, and the RCBS power trimmers. The Giraud I've used the RCBS manual trimmer for decades, but recently upgraded to the Dillon trimmer on my LNLAP, and it makes me giggle how fast it trims .223. I lube the cases, feed the brass in (no case feeder) and pull the handle, then throw it in the tumbler to remove the lube and out comes brass completely ready to load unless it needs the primer pockets swaged or flash holes deburred. The trimmer cuts the case mouth square both inside and out. No burr, so I don't chamfer or deburr. Both flat base bullets and boat tails feed perfectly. Here is my LNLAP setup for rifle brass prep stage: 1. Run through the tumbler to remove range grit. 2. Lube cases. I use the 12:1 Lanolin/Isopropyl alcohol spray lube. 3.Station 1 is a universal decapper. 4. Station 3 is the Dillon trimmer. 5. Station 5 is a Redding size die, backed off a couple of turns so that it expands the case mouth only. The decapping pin is removed. Many guys don't use the expander, I do. 6. Run through the tumbler to remove lube. Cases are ready to load. Once the cases are run through the tumbler to clean off the dirt and grit, I only have to handle them once to do the case prep, then handle them once again to load them up. This is more efficient than even the Giraud. Except for the autoindexing, your 550B should be able to run just as efficiently.
  9. The Dillon trimmer cuts the brass square, inside and out. No outside burr, so deburring is not needed. I just finished loading 500 Midway Dogtown 55 gr. FBHP bullets without chamfering. No problem what so ever. No shaving of the jacket. I wasn't sure flat base bullets would do OK, but they did. And BoatTail bullets just slide right in.
  10. Thanks for the replies. I'm just looking for a little advanced warning on the primers, and thought the Dillon tool might be the ticket. Does the Dillon alarm fit over the Hornady primer tube OK?
  11. I have a LNLAP (love it) and am wondering if anyone has used a Dillon Low Primer Alarm on their LNL? Are the primer tubes the same length? RCBS makes a similar device, anyone tried it on a LNL?
  12. The Dillon primer tubes are not the same as the Hornady. Dillon tubes are a larger outside diameter. Hornady and RCBS are the same diameter. ETA: The Dillon tubes will work, they just don't match up perfectly with the Hornady primer tube, and you have to guide them carefully.
  13. I have a Dillon trimmer for .223 on my LNLAP. I absolutely love it. It makes loading bulk .223 a joy. I spray a couple hundred cases in a ziploc bag with case lube, dump them out to dry, and start feeding them onto the LNL. Station 1 is a universal decapper, the Dillon trimmer is in station 3, and I have a Redding size die (backed out a couple of turns so that it doesn't size, only expands). This allows me to do case prep with only 1 handling of the case. Big time saver. It makes reloading .223 a joy. The Dillon trim die in .223 is a bit short when used on the LNL, since the LNL die area is fairly thick. Adjustment is touchy, but go slow and it's ok. I give it a big thumbs up.
