For SS, which 1911 would be the best to purchase with the least amount of gunsmithing involved?

If you are actually looking for a gun there is a Kimber for sale right here on the Forums. A good model of a pretty good gun at a reasonable price too.

Nope, not looking to start an argument, but truely interested. Am in the market for a SS, and was wondering.

Well I decided on the XD. Having some work done on it, but it came down to using the same frame that I use for a CCW gun. I'll use the tactical for comp, and the service for CCW and the mags will be interchangable, and SA is offering 3 additional mags with the purchase. So in the end I will have 8 mags to use.

Just wondering if anybody still uses this cartridge? I had an open gun built for it but sold it and now I find I have about 800 unloaded brass for it.

I'm with you cali, just a question that popped into my mind. I plan on shooting Production in the spring. And yes I do like having alot of competetors as I can learn from them. Will I win prizes, most likely not. The prize is being with like minded shooters that are having a good time!

OK, since this is a game, why would one want to shoot in production with so many more shooters than say SS, where you would have fewer competetors?

What is your opinion on these two single stacks? Yes I know STI offers $, but with that aside, purely on the features and reliability of the firearms, which would you use, and why?

Have tried both and like the fit of the XD better. Maybe one of the smiths can let me know what would all the upgrades cost.

I am looking to get into a Production class gun and was wondering which would you buy and why? XD or XDM? I am looking at a 9mm, and in the XD am looking at the tactical model. Is the XDM that much better with the match grade barrel? I already have an XD Service for ccw, but want a seperate Pgun for comp.

Greetings from sunny Northern Ohio.

Shot IPSC years ago and am looking to rejoin the ranks.

Shot both open and limited, but would like to start again in production. I ccw with an XD service, so I am looking at using an XD 9mm Tactical for comp. Any suggestions as to a good holster and mag pouches for this weapon?
