  2. You're a good man, Modoc...Where do you shoot?
  3. You guys are great! Thanks for all the in-put... Much obliged.
  4. And just to add on Viggen's post..What caliber are we talking about? Most 45 acp's don't care..But then I don't shoot the 45 much. later dd I'm talking about a 625-8 using Smith moonclips.
  5. I'm kinda new to this forum and so this topic may have been kicked around before but I've been shooting with this die-hard wheel-gunner who swears Remington brass works the best in his moon-clips. Now, aside from measuring all of my moonclip openings and finding the brass that has the standard deviation of the average what's happening out there in the real world. We all have brass preferences: plinkin' brass, practice brass and then the good stuff, but do other comp shooters sort their brass for their moonclips?? (Sorry to be trite but it's raining and I can't go to the range. )
  6. At the Casper Wyoming SASS club, everybody looked like they were wearning normal clothes to me. My host, "Banker Bob" really is a banker, and his name really is Bob. Hell, half the folks in this state are running under an alias for one reason or another. I didn't think nothin of it. Good to have you with us, Bonedaddy. Those fellas in Wyoming know how to do it right!
  7. I think at one time or another I've pretty much shot it all. At least I like to think I've shot it all. But I digress. Started shooting SASS about 6 years ago and never looked back. Yeah, I know. You guys think we Cowboys just "play" cowboy with our funny clothes and gear and alias's. But the simple matter of fact is that I really enjoy shooting and shooting with a bunch of folks who really enjoy shooting is just a kick in the pants. You can get as competative as you feel like getting or you can just enjoy the day with your pards. We love our guns,we love the history and we love the competition but we really try to live Cowboy even away from the range. We start each match with a prayer and the pledge and we try to live up to the ideals that made this country great. It may be a bit corny, idealist or even just odd, but the folks that we personify were a breed of Americans that this country could use another strong dose of. Ya'll have a nice day. Much obliged.
  8. Back in the day - my buddy and I were sitting in a little outdoor restaurant outside of Veracruz drinking Tecate(s)and the lady kept bring us these bowls of this wonderful spicy fish soup, (complete with tails sticking out of the bowl) and fresh tortillas. After about an hour of this she asked us if we wanted chicken. Next thing we know she's chasing a yard bird around the tables with a big knife and about another hour later comes back with this incredible roasted chicken dish. I love Mexico...

    Funny Names

Ok, last one! How do you pronounce "La-a"? The lady got really upset when it was pronounce "La-ahhhh" (trying to be sensitive.) "No you fool!", was the responce, "It's La dasha!!!!!" Seriously.
  10. I think I try to be realistic in my match win/loose situations. I love to win and I am certainly not defeated (mentally) when I loose, but I really love beating certain shooters. I'll generally pick them out before the match or it may be a long term feud between us. Loosing always drives me harder and so before each match I'll review the things that I have been working on to make me a better shooter. If I'm too relaxed I know I won't shoot well. There has to be that edge for me. Much obliged.
  11. Ain't nothing to it but to do it! If you got some doubts, just observe the first time out. Watch the RO's, take part in the safety briefing, talk to shooters and take it all in. For your first time out, tell the Match Director that you're new and may need a coach for the match. They'll probably team you up with somebody who will be a tremendous help. Most of the matches that I've participated in take special interest in new shooter. That's the way we keep thing going. Good luck and good shooting!
  12. Couldn't agree more. I know guys (and ladies) that shoot both Glocks and M&P's in competition. I simply boils down to fit and finish, i.e. how it fits and how you finish!
  13. You're welcome! Enjoyed you pic but sadly disappointed to see that you are male!
  14. I know several ner-do-wells that use the "BLAMO" tag - so which one are you?
  15. Hey - Sorry it's taken some time to get back to you. Too many side matches going on around here. Our range is on Gunters Island - (outside Aynor) and we are Horry Chapter of Wildlife Action. Wildlife Action (www.wildlifeaction.com) is a nationwide organization the headquartered just up the road in Mullins, SC. Primarily a conservation organization - not necessarily "tree huggers" - but a group of folks that interested in preserving natural habitat for hunting and fishing. We promote outdoor education for youth, hunting rights, conservation laws, and, of course, the 2nd Amendment. Members may shoot on our range or you may come to any of the monthly matches and activities. Take a look at www.horrychapterwildlifeaction.com for a complete look at our activities.

  17. Tackdriver - Good to have you aboard - Are you shooting up at Aynor WLA Range?
  18. Howdy Guys - Reckon it's time for me to jump into this foray. I've been enjoying competitive shooting for some time now but currently hooked on SASS. (Goodness I'm going to catch-it for that!) I'm also involved with a local range: skeet, trap, IPSC, IDPA, SASS, and pin shooting and a great bunch of folks to work with. So, next time anybody's down around Myrtle Beach you're alway welcome to come and shoot with us. Thanks.
