  1. Clint

Have you had time to make an opinion on the Fiber Optic Front and Rear Sight combo?

    Mark

Probably not. He's still in shock thinking, "so this is what six inches feels like....".

Really nice looking rod though, no doubt!

  2. Wow Bart, you guys have twin mountainbikes, that's awesome! I rode Specialized bikes for years and really like their stuff. I'm a mountainbiker myself and always felt that roadbiking was good mainly for training to be a better mountainbiker! It's also a pretty good form of transportation as far as getting from "point A" to "point B" goes (environmentally friendly and all that). As far as most fun per mile and overall fitness, I give the nod to mountainbiking for sure.

I've got an Ellsworth Truth that unfortunately hasn't seen many miles yet (250 miles if I'm lucky). I've found that getting out to ride is getting harder and harder. I guess that's a +1 for the roadies; they just get the bike out and pedal. I've got to find my way to some dirt first! Truth be told, if I could afford a road bike then I'd have one and probably spend more time on it then the Ellsworth, just out of sheer convenience of course. I'll post a pic of my ride when I get a chance...

  3. ......after being up for 24 hrs including 11 hrs on the range and 11 hrs on the road, I finally made it home.

(back to back misses on stage 11 and 12 at the end of the day didn't make the ride home any easier <_< )

I had a great time at the match, the stages were a lot o fun and as usual it was great seeing everyone out there. A huge thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make this match happen.

  4. I agree with Dave ....and Flex. Even though the dot is almost always there, if for some reason it wasn't (i.e. bad presentation from an awkward start position <_< ) and the target was in the close range of 5-7 yards, I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger and pick up the dot during recoil.

  5. Watch the vids on Taran's site and notice how soon he is shooting when going to the next position.

As usual, Flex nailed it. I understand what rkgsmith was trying to say though and I think it may appear that they are out of control because of how quickly they are getting the shots off. I've seen them on several occasions breaking shots before the gun is even mounted or while they are looking at something else (i.e. the next target). Maybe we should be less worried about how we appear and just get (good) shots off.

    BTW, great quote Rob!

+1 on Angus as well, very smooth shooter!

  6. I'm surprised that factory sub-sonics are actually subsonic out of your sub gun barrel. I know that factory sub-sonic .40's are not sub-sonic out of our MP5 .40's. I loaded some 180 jhp's that were traveling about 1100 fps out of the MP5 barrel and with our Knight's can I got some impressively quiet results. Point of impact shifted about 3" though and I had to use the low impulse locking piece for reliable operation.

  7. Good stuff for sure. Recently, we had a tryout for a slot to an upcoming counter-sniper school for some of the new guys on the team. I participated in the tryout for the fun of it and found out something interesting that relates to this topic. The tryout consisted of firing a 5 shot group, conducting a physical fitness test and then firing another 5 shot group. While on the run back to my shooting position, I visualized myself shooting and finishing the test. I think we had 3 minutes or so to get our shots off after reaching the position. I got my shots off well under time, without conscious thought or effort. To my surprise, the second group was half the size of the first, with all 5 shots going into one hole.

  8. I've seen so many of the Recoil Master's break, is it really worth it? That's not a rhetorical question, I'm actually asking...

I've only ever tried (shot Phil's gun...don't know if he still uses one) them in a Limited gun platform, but I just didn't like the recoil impulse. For me the main issue is reliability, so I go with what is less likely to break.

  9. Wow, what a dufus! Thanks for the well wishes, I am feeling better now. I had surgery on November 19th and finally went back to full duty on December 31st! I shot the York, PA match today and it felt great! Sorry for the late reply, somebody at the match today told me about the thread so I looked it up when I got home. Thanks Bob, you're the man and we missed you at the match.

  10. try the brooklyn brewing double chocolate stout, it is wicked.

Not easy stuff to find. The one place I thought for sure would have it was sold out. Instead, I got some Otter Creek seasonal which was chocolate rasberry. Good stuff. Like someone once said; "so many beers, so little time".....
