  1. Well, which method are we going to use? I want to be cool, so I'll check this thread in a couple of days. (insert popcorn smiley here)

I use the ultra-deadly flip round into air and catch in hand method. rolleyes.gif

    Thanks, that was hilarious!

As a side note, while I know that "ejector caused detonations" have happened, in my many years on the range the only rounds I've seen detonate were those that landed on the ground (or other hard object). I've been fragged by the latter twice...

  2. Saw it yesterday and thought it was very entertaining. They set the bar pretty high with "Batman Begins" but I do believe that they cleared it. I too thought that Bale was a little better in the first movie, but he was still good and still one of my favorite actors. I guess the gravelly voice was supposed to be a little melodramatic, after all it is a comic book movie. <_<

  3. So I put on my turn signal. This guy in a little Suzuki next to me speeds up and won't let me over. So, I speed up a little. So does he. WTF?

That is quite infuriating. It happens a lot in the DC area too. :angry2:

    goosfraba.......goosfraba.......goosfraba :)

  4. At this year's Summer Blast there was a stage (7, I believe) where the shooter had to retrieve the gun from a small (about 4"x10") drawer/slot. I didn't consider this start position to be noteworthy during my walkthrough so I concentrated on stage tactics, focus, footwork, etc..

After the beep, when I went for my gun I jambed my trigger finger on the top edge of the slot. This didn't feel good and my hand sprung back as if I just touched a hot stove! After my second and successful attempt to get the gun, I guess my finger wasn't working too well and I cranked my first shot into the berm next to the target (quite quickly, I might add). While attempting to process everything that had just happened (not intentionally, my brain just started going through things on it's own) I neglected to make up the miss! I ended up just a tad behind the pace on time but had to eat the miss that I clearly "knew" about.

I believe the moral of the story is to consider everything during the walkthrough, even things that seem innocuous or given. Also, (even though I pride myself on staying focused during distractions) do not let anything distract your subconscious from it's goal. I was startled by what happened and "got bit".

It's funny to see the video (I'll try to post it later) and see me pull my hand back as if there was an adder on top of my gun!

  5. It seems to me that the phrase in question in used most often when the original point is so drawn out that the listener may have forgotten what was actually being said and has started to drift off. You know, kind of a wake up call that's used during a lecture. blah, blah, blah, ...that being said (hey wake up)...

I think it's also frequently used to introduce a counterpoint (as mentioned by Aristotle, Steve, and JT). Not that you shouldn't hate the phrase though, by all means hate away brother! I find it a bit tiring as well, but I do use it in lectures on occasion.
