  1. Jake,

I'm trying to talk George and Kyle into shooting the SS nationals next year. Maybe you can help twist their arm.

Thats funny, I mentioned to Kyle they needed to get to the SS nats last week... I dont think it'll take much twisting! I also told Kyle to get his arse to the forums!

I actually met George through SNS Casting and sold him quite a few bullets before I heard about his past of gunsmithing. I would have had no idea, as George is a down to earth heck of a good guy! If/When he gets up and going again in the biz again he'll surely be a busy guy!

  2. AMEN to that!

I've grown verry fond of the par time feature! When doing dryfire drills, if you aren't using ben stoegers program with the baseline par times try to figure out your own limits and keep trying to beat your bests. Usually when I can hit a certain drill 3x in a row I'll bump the par time down .1 . When pushing yourself during dryfire be sure you get a "snapshot" of your sight picture every time, no cheating! The possibilites are pretty much endless, so mix it up and don't be afraid to move. You'll be amazed how quickly you think to yourself when finding/setting your par times, I was that slow??

    About 90$/1000 shipped

This bullet has won a few Cowboy action shooting world championships in the wild bunch class, which is shot with a 1911 style pistol. IMO, 230RN bullets are the way to go for .45 .. 4.3 gr WST makes about 170PF out of my nowlin barreled Springfield 1911 and is fairly clean. I heard N310 is awesome with 230LRN bullets as well.

  4. Man this thread is getting a workout... or not! Anyways, I took a dremel to the sharp plastic edges and what do you know... it worked great! I recommend this to anyone who has mag holders that could be opened up a bit.

Can anybody speak with 100% certainty that magnetic mag holders are legal in Single Stack??? If so, I'd be replacing my 2 rear pouches with magnets...

  5. My good buddy BShooter has a method which has worked well for me... 140gr bullet OAL = 1.140" 175gr bullet OAL = 1.175" 180gr bullet OAL = 1.180" 220gr bullet OAL = 1.220" . . you get the idea. Not every gun will handle 1.220" but not many people are shooting the 220gr bullet. (The one's who try them usually love em!)

  6. I have a P16 with tons of rounds through it at major PF and it is 99.9% reliable. The OAL of my ammo is 1.144" and is shorter than most guys with P16's but it flat runs. If that particular gun has proven to be reliable, jump on it! 21+1 is a nice perk of the P16 as well, although reloading with 21 in the mag is rough and I always run 20 in my extra mags.
That being said, get yourself a nice .40 singlestack and shoot SS & L-10. When you really start to get a grasp of the game, and decide your all in, go nuts! I love single stack! Reloading 3-4 times a stage will really teach you to pay attention to reloads. It will help you break down stages When you can reload quick w a SS, it makes feeding a para or 2011 a breeze. It's a gun that is competitive in 2 divisions.

I don't necessarily agree with this statement. I started shooting in Limited, and I was more able to concentrate on the shooting aspect and not worrying about stage breakdown with so many reloads. I did however learn stage breakdown skills shooting Lim that I'm excited to apply to SS. Now I'm switching to SS because I am now up for the challenging aspect of it.

Also, my Limited P16 makes a great L-10 gun, and the wide body makes hitting reloads easier than my SS gun.

Ultimately, shoot the gun, and if you like it and it runs, get it!

  7. One more thing regarding this subject... I've done a search and I'm pretty sure it's legal, but are magnetic mag holders legal in single stack as long as they are properly located behind the hip?

  8. Lately I've been practicing table starts with mags and gun on table using my single stack gear. I have some oldschool mag holders from safariland with the hard plastic inside and leather outside. I am having a hard time smoothly getting the mags from the table in to the pouches due to the sharp lip on the tops of the mag holders. I'm thinking about taking a dremel to the sharp edges and making a "magwell" for my pouches. Has anybody tried this with success, or know of any potential downsides to trying this..?

  9. I agree small prime is a huge pain, but get a bunch seperated and load them! Especially for the guys who shoot alot of .40, we dont have to change that part of the loader over. The speers are a pain because they dont always deprime but they load great aside from that.

  10. I wouldn't call it hoarding either, shooters are generally a smart bunch.. and usually have some extra money to buy more bullets than they need in order to save some money down the road. Get them before they go up by about 10%, I would call it a smart move!

  11. Been shooting a P16 in Limited for about 18 months. I've put approx 20K major pf rounds through it and probably 60K+ rounds through it when I started shooting it, with no major issues. The extractor and the barrel bushing broke within 50 rounds of each other, thats the only problem for the last 30K rounds. It has a 2 lb trigger pull, magwell, and a little polishing on a few parts... From 15 yards I can easily shoot 2" groups with a 175 LSWC bullet and stock para barrel, which is good enough for the girls I date! ;) I loove my Para, but to each his own!
