Julie,
It is refreshing to see such professionalism and sense of grace in a competitor. You make me proud to be a "Glocker" and you do an outstanding job of representing our country. Kudos!

That brings up an interesting question that I have----
(10 in mag, plus one in gun is the rule for capacity)
I find it easy to just 'barney bullet' one of my mags as I step up to the line, which , in effect, gives me the desired result.... but have been told I shouldn't do it that way, that instead, load from diff mag then switch out. Is there an official ruling on this? Does it really matter, as long as we achieve the desired result? Inquiring minds want to know.....

Well, for me, since I'm still very much a beginner in the sport, I'm going to start out with goals of moving up to a higher class, and then when I reach that point, I'll re-evaluate my goals. Enjoying what I'm doing is always my MOST important goal.

Carina,
Fry's has them on sale just about every Friday/Sat/Sun. Snag the Fry's ad out of the paper on Friday and check out what's the 'sale' of the week. I got a good deal on mine. My DVD burner was like 85 bucks....... Sony/Plextor/couple others are top brands.

I'm not an RO, but for what it's worth:
1. The RO DEFINITELY should have stopped the shooter. Safety is #1. No match is worth losing your hearing. Forcing him to go in or choose to zero the stage should have not been an option, at all.
2. The remaining question is whether the shooter should get DQ'ed or get a reshoot. There is room for disagreement here. On one hand hearing protection is much more the shooter's responsibility than the RO's. On the other hand, allowing a reshoot in similar circumstances would encourage shooters to stop the minute they realize the problem. And it doesn't give an unfair advantage or prejudice the other shooters, since the stoppage should happen at the very beginning of the stage.
Hey....you sound like a lawyer!! Oh wait........ you ARE!!!

Lee's son is a very well mannered, polite young man and ALSO an excellent shooter. Kudos to Lee for doing a fine job raising him. Most of the youth shooters I have met are very polite and friendly. That's whats great about shooting sports..........

Not sure if this will help, but start with this: http://www.uspsatexassecnorth.org/
That's the list of the DFW area IPSC matches, and then there are plenty more in the "East Texas" section, too. http://www.texaseastsection.org/
As far as the cowboy action thing goes:

Good luck!

If you need in two weeks, that makes it easy. Call Comp-tac. You'll have it in about 4 days after you order it. Enjoy.

How much space & bandwidth do you need? I've got some webspace available for smaller stuff, if that'll help......

Everyone at that match is always friendly, helpful, and polite...... and more than willing to give tips to newbies! I feel very fortunate to be with such a good group here in Area 4. We had a good time..... and of course, the catfish afterward made it all even better!!

I've got several, but here's the most recent one. I shoot a G34 ( which takes the G17 mags) and the better half shoots a G19. She shoots ahead of me, so I pick up her mags for her.....stick one in my pocket, somehow, someway. My turn comes to shoot....... well, needless to say, when you do a mag change and use the WRONG mag, you just have a bad day. Took me a couple tap/rack/bangs to realize I had put the 19 mag in the gun. I now color code bottom of mags to attempt to avoid this.

True, but he'll tell you I get the award for the best magazine bobble and recovery from last Saturday's steel match. He got a good laugh at that one!!

What Proportion Of Idpa And Uspsa Do You Shoot
in IDPA Shooting

I was a "50/50".......I shoot about equal amounts of both...and enjoy them both. I'm fortunate that the groups I shoot with usually do both, as well.....so it helps.![:)](//content.invisioncic.com/r270761/emoticons/default_smile.png)
