  1. mikeg1005, for the last three years I've been able to make it to Nats with just taking three days off work. If Nats next year is the 21st-27th, then I'd have to take five days off work, plus it would take part of two weekends. This is significantly more than previous years.

Just for the record... I agree 100% with you.. just pointing out it isn't that much more if someone stays for awards and comes early to walk stages.

Personally... I would rather see 22-30 stages shot in 2-3 days. I REALLY hate shooting 1/2 a day and then stopping. I would rather have 2-3 days of 10-12 stages each... and judging by the turn out this year (tons of ghost squads) you could condense the squads and eliminate the morning/afternoon starts.

I agree, turn out will be significantly lower... I talked to many people this year who were staying for fun for L-10/Open, or using Limited as a warm up. I don't see a match that requires more commitment and doesn't allow for multiple entries to bring in more shooters.

  2. Interesting.... First Master at 94.5%, first A at 84.5%, first B at 74.9%, First C at 59.6% first (and last) D at 22%...

Doesnt look like anyone is getting bumped...

Great. I was counting in Speedy getting bumped at this match. Oh well, guess I have to keep getting beat by him for a little while longer.

Its alright... he'll just default to the International Champion again... giving the rest of us a chance at first Master. :P

  3. 5 days shooting, 7 nights in a hotel, meals........I am thinking that is going to be a high price for a lot of shooters.

I think it will be too expensive for a lot of shooters. This match format will be too much for the normal "working man" shooter. It would be awesome to shoot a 30 stage world shoot type match but I think its just crossing the reality line for all but the top shooters in the sport.

It wouldn't really require much more commitment... you would add on 1 more vacation day to the current nationals. This year people flied in on Sunday afternoon, left Thursday morning.. The only thing that would change would be people having to take Friday off, flying back on Saturday. I'm pretty sure if the normal working man can take of M-Th.... he can probably add Friday... if he didn't so already.

  4. I sent in my 47NX mags (10mm) to get warrantied (not dropping out and cracked lips)... They sent me back 47FX mags (40sw). My gun is a Springfield loaded in 40sw.

I don't have my other mags near me to compare but is there any difference between the two? I noticed the 47FX does not have the spacer in the back like most 40sw mags, so you don't have an OAL restriction. I contacted Wilson but I want to see if you guys had any issues running them interchangeably. I load ammo long since factory didn't run right... so I went with 10mm mags as a starting point.

    Thanks,

    Mike.

  5. I got through to them, someone requested all my information again, we'll see if something comes out of it this time.

I don't think it's disregard for existing customers as much as total overwhelming demand. I know what it's like to come in on a Monday morning to a voice mail box that's full and so many phone calls coming in that you couldn't even get your messages off the vm box. Then when each successive day is the same and it becomes impossible to manage. It finally comes done to turning your vm box off, and answering request one at a time as they come. I'm sure that email can be the same.

I know it's frustrating when you are the one trying to get thru but remember you aren't the only one.

Not getting back to your existing customers is disregarding them... regardless of the reason. I mean, I get it, they have to prioritize things, and I'm sure the guys that are getting "free stuff" are at the bottom.

In my line of work, when I get overloaded with things to do, I work late to catch up.

It really wouldn't bother me if they told me accurate lead times. 3-4 weeks turning into 14 and counting is not acceptable. If I did that at my job(construction) I could delay the whole project. Maybe I'm just asking for too much but its not challenging to tell people realistic lead times, I do it everyday, so does the rest of the world. Always better to have a long lead time and come in early rather than having to tell someone their stuff isn't coming on time, because it screws up their plans.

  6. I have had a lot of lower back problems ever since high school, 25 now, but this one is about the worse I ever had. About 4 weeks ago I was laying out a flagstone patio with my dad, lots of lift, twist, lift, twist motion... about a week later I can't walk, go to the doctor, he takes an MRI (finally), determines I have disc degeneration at L4 and L5, and a herniated disc at L5-S1.

Gives me a methylprednisolone pack, start therapy in a week... after I use that up (7 days) my back pain goes away but I get Horrible pains in my leg when I stand or walk, along with a numb left side of calf and big toe. This goes on up until about Friday (had to miss Area 5). Now I'm starting to feel better. No severe pain when standing or walking and only a slight tingling sensation when I lay at night. Still a little sore if I do a lot of movement.

... So for those of you who experienced this.. how long until I'm fully healed? My goal is to be able to shoot the IN sectional in a month without having to worry about not moving. I don't see that being a problem at the rate I am improving now, thoughts?

  7. The general consensus is that Dave would have won had he not gone Minor. Rob said as much during his acceptance speech when he stated clearly that Sevigny had shot the better match.

I could not resist. It may not be exact but Dave would of won by ~9.6689 points. :(

I did a quick spreadsheet, I think it would have been Dave with something like 1104.247 points and Rob with 1086.402

With Max making a stomach-churning 165.0 at the chrono, its clear that either the ammo was off, or the chrono' was.

I think the chron was fine.... my ammo chrono results from Blue Grass, SSN, and my own chrono were where they should be.

  8. I currently use solo 1000... chronoed this weekend.. 4.8gr made 177pf with a 180gr bear creek FP.

Solo is kinda rare around me, and I would like to switch to something less costly and more avaliable. I am looking into red dot.

Any opinions on 180gr moly bullets with red dot at about 1.185" OAL? How is pressure?

Also, with red dot, does it meter well? And is it reverse temp sensative?

    Thanks,

    Mike.

  9. I really enjoyed the match, the stages were very well designed, everything was tested, hosing, accuracy, and stage planning/break down. I would have loved to spend the afternoon shooting stage 8 and 9 to see what times you'd get with all the options that were avaliable.

I was beyond amazed at the prize table for the size of the match... I'm pretty sure that EVERYONE who stayed for the awards ceramony got something from the table, and not a bushing wrench or some brownells lube.
