Do you have a front fiber sight? It is taller than the stock front. No I do not. But I do plan on getting the EAA fiber front sight which is the same height as the stock one. bluestringer

I keep reading about these problems people are having with EAA mags, but I've shot Witness pistols since the early 90's and never had any problems. I think most of it is with handloads loaded to the wrong OAL. Try another brand of ammo. The Winchester WB are known to give problems. Try Remington or Blazer. In your original post you say you haven't even shot the gun yet. Hard to tell how the rounds will function just by hand racking the slide. Get a round in the chamber, then load up the mag and insert it and fire the pistol. It should be fine. bluestringer

I plan on replacing mine with the EAA standard combat sight. I've found it to be the best sight for the Witness pistols. No adjustment screws to mess with or lose. It's the standard sight on the Steel model. I've also looked at the jpoint, which I think would be a neat replacement. bluestringer

Picked this up yesterday. Took it to the range this morning. Shot about 150 rounds of mixed bag Remington 230 grain RN, 200 grain XTP HP reloads, and 200 grain LSWC reloads. No problems except one FTE with one of the lead reloads. 10 round mag cut a ragged 1.5-2.0 hole at 10 yards off hand. Although it was about 3-4 inches low. I'll need to adjust the rear sight a little, but I may just get the non-adjustable combat replacement sight for it. This is going to be a great carry weapon as soon as I get the Blade Tech holster.

You actually don't have to remove the trigger. Turn the plunger until it is free of the groove in the trigger bar, and then pull it out with some needle nose pliers. Be sure to keep your finger on the mag release hole when you pull out the plunger, there is a small spring and plunger in there that can get lost easily. bluestringer

Lead bullets bulging the case is quite normal. Mine are like that. As suggested it seems your OAL is too long for your chamber. I load 230 grain lead at 1.220-1.250. I also test drop one or two into the barrel to make sure they work. bluestringer

Carrying 2 sawed off shotguns is not very practical, but if someone did, then yea, have at it. We have shot some home invasion scenarios where a shotgun could be used. It is a great home defense weapon. BTDT. bluestringer

I don't shoot IDPA, but wanted to try it. I think I'll just stick with my local Combat Matches instead. They are more realistic. bluestringer Whatever dude. Games have rules. Play by the rules or don't play the game. Well therein lies the problem I guess. I thought IDPA was supposed to be a way to train for real life scenarios. Didn't know it was supposed to be a game. But now that you mention it, that is the reason our club got out of sanctioned matches way back in the late 90's. If I want to play a game, I'll just shoot IPSC, or pull out my old copy of Doom. bluestringer

Bobby at Freedom Gun Works checked with Blade Tech, and they do have the SRB and DOH for a full size Witness with rail. I have the Match 45 on order, and I'll be ordering the SRB for it. bluestringer

Is anyone using a Witness Match in ESP division? I read elsewhere that it is overweight for the division. This is the new version with the tac-rail. If it is, then it cannot be used in IDPA at all because it doesn't meet requirements for any division. bluestringer

I don't think the rail and extra quarter inch adds 10 oz. I had both the old and new, and they both weighed 33. The new had the rail, but with the contoured slide it weighed the same. Carrying IWB is even easier than OWB. Like you said, with the right belt and holster, it's not a problem. bluestringer Better check your scale, the Match w/ Rail I had in 9mm w/ an empty mag inserted came in overweight for IDPA ESP (43oz is the limit... the one's w/o the rail just squeak by). Don't see how that is possible. The standard steel that I have weighs 33 oz. with the rail. The only difference in it and the Match is a quarter inch more length. I could see it being around 37-38 maybe but not 43. The Limited, Pro, and Gold Team are listed around 40-44. Nothing wrong with my scale. The specs also say 33. bluestringer

I ride also. I've carried my Witness with me at times, but prefer to carry a small 38 revolver when on the bike. I don't think the safety will be a problem either. Like I said, I had the extended safety on my old Witness and never had a problem with it. A good leather holster will be best, not Kydex, if you carry OWB. For IWB the Crossbreed Supertuck is the best, if only they made one for the Witness. bluestringer
