  1. I'm finding the stock II extreme grips a bit to small for liking. Picture here (http://imgur.com/27dLgRm). I have some henning grips on my limited and love them.. but I don't see large frame stock II grips listed on his website anymore. Is he no longer making them? Anyone have any other suggestions with regards to grips?
  2. 1. Thank you so much for this... I was beginning to think I was going crazy. I've been getting mine to run with a COL of around 1.095, but some rounds still stick just a hair.. not enough to cause functional issues just enough to make chamber checking annoying. 2. What weight powder charge are you running 3.6 seems to be what I'm at right now.
  3. Thanks for all the info guys. For right now I'm going to just load appropriately. The loads I tested at 135pf didnt' show any pressure signs, and appear to be far more accurate than I am. I appreciate all the help!
  4. Glad to know it's not just my gun. I have a few friends that had similar issues with their cz's. They ended up getting their chambers reamed out, which is why I asked. Accuracy is good with my current shortened loads.. so provided they are safe I really have no complaints.
  5. Hey guys, I've been shooting a limited in 40 for a number of years, and last year I picked up a stockII. I've been working up 9mm loads for this coming season, and I've noticed the chamber on the stock II seems a little short. I've been loading 135gr bayou bullets with win 231. Almost all the data out there says these should run around 1.135 for COL. When I load to that length the projectile impacts the rifling. slide will not close all the way 100% of the time, and live rounds become difficult to extract by hand. I've backed off my COL to 1.105 and now everything seems 100%. My loads don't seem to be showing pressure signs, my FPS didn't creep up to much from shortening them. I'm a little tentative about straying this far from established load data. Thoughts? One of the things I liked best about my limited 40 was that the chamber was very forgiving, anyone else notice their 9mm stock II's having a tighter/shorter chamber? anyone ream them out a little? I know this is common complaint with cz's. Another data point all rounds chamber fine in my EGW case gauge... just not in the stock II barrel. Here is my load data for anyone looking Brass mixed | Powder win 231 3.6-3.7gr | Bayou 135gr | COL = 1.135 | FPS = 977 | pf =132 rounds hang up on rifling Brass mixed | Powder win 231 3.6-3.7gr | Bayou 135gr | COL = 1.105 | FPS = 1000 | pf =135 rounds chamber fine.
  6. Had an opportunity to talk to Todd at Hornady. His input was.. 1. The powder funnel doesn't work do hot with your bullet feeder. I need to use their ptx die. 2. The .451/,452 ptx die I have is not going to work it's very old. The new one has a step in it to help with this problem. 3. The .452 PTX I have is indeed for long colt.... I'm going to give their new ptx a shot, and report back. I hope some one else finds this useful.
  7. Hey guys, I figured I would post this up here since my google searches yielded nothing Background: I've been reloading for 5+ years, I have probably 30-50k through my lnl, I'm pretty familiar with the press at this point. I recently (about a year ago), added a bullet feeder. The feeder it's self works great. Feeds both moly coated, and FMJ's like a boss. The issue I have is that the after the bullet is fed, it never stays upright between stations. I have to hold the round as soon as it is fed, and lead it to the next station, or itwill topple. I think this is related to my powder through expander. I'd like to hear what you old hands think It happens for both .40 and .45acp. Here is what I've tried for .45acp. 1. Increasing and decreasing the bell with my powder funnel ptx... seems to topple between over stations with this powder funnel ptx die whatever I do. This die works great for belling, but the round won't stay upright between stations unassisted. 2. I have an old school hornady ptx (from 4+ years ago).. labeled (.451/.452), this thing sucks bad. I can't get it to even expand the case enough to get a round to sit properly when fed. I've tried both gross and fine adjustments no dice. It shaves moly coated projectiles and I can't use it with them at all. When you add to much bell, it basically folds the case over, rather than trumpets it. 3. Apparently before I bought my powder funnel, or when I got my bullet feeder die, I got a PTX labeled .452. This looks like it's setup for .45 long colt. It's much shorter than my .451 PTX... even moving the powder measure all the way down, a .45acp case doesn't engage far enough to get a proper bell. Has anyone else struggled with this? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks guys!
  8. Nealio, Yeah, that's basically what I was getting at, Thanks for the help, one more thing for me to check out. I love this forum, it's always so helpful. Once I get everything sorted out, I'll give you guys an update... ~Bessy
  9. I've handled a number of stock II's with triggers that were very good. My buddy has a CZ that was done by Angus... Put side by side with Stoeger's gun it's hard to tell them apart... they were both spectacular. I'm not even looking for spectacular... I'm just looking for decent.
  10. This is exactly what I did. The plunger was BAD.... I did one pass with 500... then 1200... wasn't enough. I had to fall back to 250 grit... then 500 then 1200 I finished up with 1500. I made sure to check all my surfaces with dental picks. It's pretty friction-less. The pull isn't gritty anymore.. it just stacks at the end crazy bad. I've had the chance to handle Jim's work before, I'm not confident that I can get my trigger even close to that level. As far as sears and hammers goes. I'm comfortable with that type of work for a 1911, but I'm not comfortable enough with this platform to attempt this type of work. I'm the type of guy that needs pictures/diagrams angles, or better yet working copy to examine and emulate. I've been doing this long enough to know when I don't know what I'm doing. I'm still curious as to how this part http://www.ericgrauffel.com/shop/product.php?id_product=97 differs from the one that ships with the stock II. I hear a few folks saying just drop that part in with the delta hammer and you are good to go.
  11. I went ahead and decided to do what I could with a 15lb hammer spring last night. Here is what I did. 1. Polished the trigger plunger, shaft, the plunger head. I also polished the "socket", in the trigger where the plunger head rides. 2. I polished the trigger bows inside and outside. 3. Polished the bottom of the sear cage, and the bottom of the interrupter. 4. Swapped out the hammer spring with a 15lbs hammer spring. This dropped the double action from over 12lbs (off of my trigger scale) to about 9.5-9.7 lbs. The single actions is now just below 5lbs. The single action is totally shootable, but the doulbe action has some monster stacking... I'm a fair mechanic, when it comes to these guns... I can polish with the best of them... but without a jig.. I'm not going to touch the sear or hammer hooks with a 10 foot pole. At this point I'm going to send the gun of to jim bodkin.. I don't think I will get the gun to where I want by swampng out a firing pin and some springs. ~Bessy
  12. Hey folks, I've been shooting a limited for quite a while. I just picked up a stock II and while I love the gun the trigger is a nightmere. I'm trying to decide what parts to order to clean it up. I spoke with jim at shooter reader, he recommended one of Eric graffuel's hammer, Firing pin, and misc springs *14 lb hammer, new recoil etc), which sounds reasonable. I noticed several people here have mentioned dropping a new LSPA complete block in their guns with a delta hammer. I'm wondering how exactly the LSPA block differs from the block that ships with the stock II. Is this something I should pursue? If so who sells one state side. Thanks in advance. Bessy
  13. Went ahead and pulled the trigger on the conversion this morning. After much debate I ordered a Match upper. The price difference between the match and limited uppers was 110 bucks. (350 vs 464) My thoughts were, I'd rather have a match with Henning sights than a limited with the super sight. I've also noticed the polygonal rifled barrel on my limited tends to accumulate more moly/lead fouling then the match. I also ordered 4 extra magazines at 25 bucks a piece. One thing I found really odd, was that the limited conversion came with a magazine, but no base pad.... seemed weird they would send a mag you couldn't use. Thanks so much for all the help guys. Looks like I need to call Henning and order a new set of sights, and some grips. I'm gonna be broke.... I really wish he made some cheaper ones out of plastic ;-)
  14. Sorry for the late reply, better late than never. They were more than willing to sell me an upper but specified that it "must be fitted by a gunsmith", which made me pause. When I inquired about whether it was just limited uppers that needed to be "Fit" or all uppers, the response was that ALL uppers that were different calibers than the original gun needed to be fitted.... I was under the impression that they were drop in. (my .22lr conversion was). Has anyone had to "fit" their conversions? or is EAA just covering their behind?
  15. Thanks for the quick responses ill call eaacorp and see if I can get a limited 45 upper
  16. Hello, I have a couple of questions for the Tanfoglio experts 1. When am I going to be able to buy a stock 3?, baring that, where is the best place to look for a stock 2 in 9mm? EDIT(In the US ) 2. Maybe this isn't the place for this... but I'm trying to locate a 45 conversion upper for my Tanfoglio match. I've been shooting a tanfo limited 40 for about a year now and I love it. The only problem I have now is that I shoot heavy metal in 3-gun. Rather than buy a whole new rig to replace my 1911 I figure I can just get a 45 conversion for my backup tanfoglio match and run that. I'm having trouble finding a 45 conversion that has the super sight (not the crappy stock sights).. any idea's folks? Does Hennaing sell conversion units or top ends? Is the best course of action here to buy a stock 45 conversion from EAA , and stick the new Henning sights on? Thanks in advance!
  17. Sorry about the double post. I received a very prompt email from Lori, once I used the new address. Looks like they are re-working some stuff for new style mec-gar mags. For those of you interested their estimated re-work time is 6 weeks. Thanks for the help guys!
  18. Thanks Nealio, I did email him last week. I'll check the emails listed here and make sure I send a copy those as well if they differ. **UPDATE** email sent to questions at henningshop.com.

  20. Henning, I put in a large order for a bunch of parts on the 4/5th of may. Most of the order shipped out right away, but Lori explained that you guys were waiting on magazines from EAA. She said they would ship out mags asa soon as they were available, ( I ordered 3 pack of your 40 competition magazines 21 rounds). I emailed Lori last week, and tried calling the shop, with no response so far. Any news on mags? what's the best way to get a hold you guys for questions? Thanks for your time!
