  1. No one mentioned it but I use Roger's Magic Dust from King Shooting Supply. It really keeps the powder die from sticking and can go quite a bit faster with my 550. I just shoot a couple blast into container of my prepped brass and roll it around. Dont need very much I have had the same bottle for 2 years and can barely tell I have used any. Here is the link http://www.kingshooters.com/magic-dust-p-25767.html

    Bomar cut for cz 75

Can you clarify the issue with production. Is this understanding correct: USPSA Production - Slide Cut is Legal IPSC Production - Slide Cut NOT Legal Have you considered a HAJO as an alternative to cutting the slide. I am really interested in getting one.
  3. You can set up the CZ shadow with the mag release on either side. you may not want to switch it, you dont need to get the hole thumb on the button with a CZ if you can get the tip of your thumb just onto the smooth part of the release you can reliably drop mags without having to shift your grip. Or watch max michel's video he shows how he switches grips on the reloads, you can find it on youtube.

    HAJO rear sights

was the Hajo originally around 70 or 75 bucks? I see it as advertised as 90.00 now. I love my shadow but I constantly feel like I am getting gouged on parts and mags, not to mention if I bought today the same CZ I got 1 and 1/2 years ago it would cost almost 20% more now for the same gun.
  5. Thought this was interesting. I think it means I can just visualize dry firing without having to do it anymore. http://gizmodo.com/5976994/how-thinking-changes-the-shape-of-your-brainand-your-physical-abilities
  6. I think you are right about filing down the underside of the button. The problem happens with 10 and 15 round factory mags both. The 19's always seem to eject right, but I live in New Jersey so I cant use them.
  7. They get jammed in pretty good when they fail drop.
  8. Thanks. I need to get a rule book. Screws arent touching, and I have a drop free mag brake. The mags drop about an inch then jams. Not related to the rounds walking since it happens even with empty mags. What I think is the problem is that the spring maybe pushes the mag break too far to the left of the pistol so when you hit the button the nub that locks into the mag clears, but the release is causing too much friction. I need about 2-3 hours sitting at the bench to experiment with this. Also could be related to the mag release spring need to check that out as well.
  9. I have been having problems with mags dropping free and this weekend I got frustrated and took off the grips and shot without them. I actually like the feel of the gun without grips. My question is whether you need grips to be uspsa production legal?
  10. Mag Brake is fine, that was the first thing I checked. I may have to buy some lipstick and give the above advice a try. I also may try sanding down some of the material off the mag release to see if that helps as well.
  11. screws are behind the plate that protects the trigger spring, not sure how they would be contacting the mag. this problem is happening with 10, 15 and 19 round mags all factory. It is intermittent, but even when they are dropping free if the gun is not perfectly straight up and down the mags bind. To be honest if I didnt live in NJ I would have a G34 already and this would be up on gun broker.
  12. I am using the thin aluminmum grips and the magazine will not drop free and have to be forcefully pulled from the gun. Seems like the problem is the aluminum grips. Does anyone have this problem and is there some solution like using a washer spacer under the grips. Thanks.
  13. I am running 147 gr Zero FMJ over 4.9 grains of AA#5 at an OAL of 1.150. I dont even touch the lands until about 1.173. Not the lightest recoiling round but the 147s disrupt your grip less and I can grab a bad grip and have an easier time coping. Load is way accurate, I can keep 10 rounds on a 3X5 index card at 25 yards freestyle which is pretty amazing for me since I have only shot about 3k rounds total from a handgun. This round also feeds so much smoother than 115s or 125. I think I am going to try Solo as recommended above.
  14. I have been having trigger reset issues like many others with my Shadow. I had played around with the trigger reset screw and it did not do anything. I had never been able to simulate the failure either while firing or racking the slide by hand. However this weekend I had the gun apart playing with reversing the mag release, and with the spring that holds the trigger bar up removed I noticed that the gun will not fire and the trigger feels exactly like when I have a reset issue. I put the gun back together and noticed that the spring can get hung up inside the the frame allow the trigger bar to fall down, and when the trigger is pulled in this state it will not fire. If you want to simulate this, remover your slide, lock the hammer back and then press down on the trigger bar, if you then pull the trigger it will not set off the hammer. I think the solution is to take a pair of dental plies and bn the spring upwards so that it puts a bit more pressure upwards on the trigger bar and is less likely to hang. Really, I think the best solution would b for Cz to manufacture the spring out of a thicker guage wire so that it is less likely to hang inside the frame. I have not had a chance to testfire yet but I am pretty certain this is the issue. If you also have trigger reset issues let me know if this resolves your problem as well.

    15 round magazines

I am moving to NJ and have to comply with a 15 round mag capacity for an Spo1 shadow in 9mm. I have a few of the 10 round factory mags and they suck. They dont run right and they flush fit which usually catches my skin in the mag well when reloading. Does anyone make a 15 round mag that has a thick base pad like the 19 round factory mags, or is there some combination of tube and after market baseplate that would work. I have looked at EAA and Jericho and other mags and cant seem to find what I am looking for. Any help would be appreciated.
  17. I have watched videos of people operating the lee hand press and it looks cumbersome plus I guess I dont understand how the universal deprimer works, By that I mean dont you have to change the shell holder for every different caliber? This looks like it would solve that problem. Also, the lee press looks like something Suzanne Somers would sell to tone, shape and firm your inner thighs.
  18. Has anybody ever used a Harvey deprimer? I like to deprime before cleaning in walnut, but I dont want to get dirt and crud in my press. 49.95 is not to unreasonable a price. http://harveydeprimer.com/ - They have a couple of videos.
  19. I have shorter thumbs and had the same problem until I fixed how I hold the pistol. If it is rotated in your hand in proper alignment it should not require much shifting even with short thumbs. I have thought about reversing the mag release to activate with the trigger finger maybe others could chime in about their experience with this set up.
  20. I think the black on the target is 5 inches. Goal is to get it into the 2-3 range.
  21. I have been shooting for about a 8 months now and have really been focusing on group shooting accuracy since I only have access to an indoor range. I noticed a huge difference in results when started focusing hard on the front sight alignment and now I am at the point where at 10-12 yards I ususually string all shots in to one hole. I am hitting all black on the 25 yard nra pistol targets at 25 yards but would not call the results a 'group'. I think the problem is an inconsistent hold on the target because the target appears really out of focus. I feel like sight alignment, grip and trigger pull are good but have some room for minor tweaking. What is the next step in the skill set to get my 25 yd group 1-3 inches tighter than they are now. The aspirational goal I set for myself when I started shooting is to shoot groups with all shots on a 3X5 index card out to 25 yards. Appreciate any help or links you can forward.
  22. When is the appropriate point in your stride to break the shot. A) when one foot is up or when leading foot touches down?
  23. CCI minimags are a bit less than half the price of my 9mm reloads. I only have access to an indoor range which requires jacketed 9mm rounds so cost wise it works out saving a bit.
  24. I have a CZ cadet which I shoot CCI minimags through and the flip is really not much different than 9mm minor loads the recoil is definitely less but it seems to flip almost the same. As mentioned above shooting scaled down targets will make it simulate your regular gun even more.
  25. CZ's are really heavy 39+ may be too heavy for a kid.
