  1. I just called EAA and they told me the price for the wonder finish conversion kits are wrong. They are actually $609. They wouldn't honor the website price. She told me their website manager was working to fix the price on the website.

    DOH!

It was worth a try. I still believe in Santa, Unicorns and hopefully one day good EAA customer service.....lol.

BBI is the one I use exclusively now, I switched from X-Treme. I haven't noticed a real difference in smoke between the two. BBI is a better value and my groups were tighter.

Are you using them in your Tanfos?

Yes I am. I shoot limited in USPSA and I'm running about 180pf with them. It feels like I'm shooting a 9mm.

  3. Is it common for limited guns to have light strikes with stock springs/firing pin?

I've got a limited and the only modification is a henning flat trigger. All the springs are what came in the gun. I've shot two matches with it and have had a couple light strikes with Winchester primers. I don't think it's the ammo since I check for high primers and have never had an issue shooting 9's or 45's with my 1911s.

I don't know if it's COMMON, but the ONE modification I always make with my limited guns, is a henning firing pin and removing the firing pin block. With a reduced hammer spring, and the henning firing pin, I can use cci RIFLE primers with no problem in limited 40. It's an easy fix.

+1 on this. I usually don't use the reduced hammer spring. I like to keep the trigger around 3-4 lbs, it a personal thing for me. Super light triggers scare me a little nervous.

  4. I wish Tanfoglio would get their quality control in order. I have a Match 9mm and a Match .40, both made in about 2003-2005, they are top notch in fit and finish. The Limited I bought in 2010 and the one I just purchased have had numerous quality issues. I know next time I'll order several and ship back the others that fail inspection. In this age of CNC, I just don't know how some of this stuff gets made wrong in the first place.

I agree that the quality control is a little lacking. I have had small things wrong but nothing major; sometimes I feel like switching back to a Glock or going to a 2011 but I shoot a match and I remember why I bought a Tanfoglio in the first place. This year will be my make or break year for me.

  5. Is a stock II also too heavy for IDPA?

I believe the Stock II is not legal for IDPA due to the bull barrel. Here is the text from the current rulebook:

8.1.7. Non-IDPA-Legal Modifications for All Divisions

The following features and modifications are not allowed in any division unless otherwise specifically allowed in the rulebook.

8.1.7.3. Heavy and/or cone style barrels without a barrel bushing except as allowed in ESP and CDP divisions with length restrictions.

8.2.2 Enhanced Service Pistol Division (ESP)

8.2.2.2. ESP Permitted Features and Modifications (Inclusive list):

8.2.2.2.21. Heavy or cone style barrels on firearms with barrel lengths of 4.25” or less.

This is correct however they do make Stock II's with a straight barrel. I had one in 9mm and it weighed 43.5 ozs. It is even more a unicorn than the bull barrel ones. I got rid of it when IDPA changed the rules and that was a stupid move on my part. If you can find a Stock II lower; you can add a LimPro or Stock I upper and it should be close on weight. Just a thought.
