So, I went through about 5 pages and didn't find what I'm looking for.  With a whole 1.5 PCC matches under my belt, I can already see a need to address hard lean targets around barricades/walls on your weak hand side.  It would obviously be cheaper, and maybe all around better to master switching shoulders, but I have an eye injury that severely limits vertical movement in my right eye.  So, it is doable, but very awkward to use my right eye.

So, is an offset optic really needed?  How many of you use one?  Will folks setting up traditional pistol matches ever get over the PCC craze and set up carbine friendly stages?

I also use a Vortex Razor on an offset. Coming from open, I realized my holdover isn't as bad as my open gun (bad meaning not much). Honestly, I use it ten yards and in for spray and pray.

    Hi Mike,

Sorry for not responding sooner.  I got no email notification.

I am at 3.6 grains of N320 under a 147 grain bullet (1.13 OAL).  About 142 PF.  I recognize that this is pretty stout.    I am moving to 3.8 grains of N320  under a 124 grain bullet (1.10 OAL).  About 133 PF.  all bullets are plated or jacketed.

I had ZERO symptoms.  I found the broken firing pin when I cleaned the gun.

Well at least it is confirmed that a tight channel will keep a broken firing pin going. As for my round, I forgot to mention that I am using SRP. I have a ton of them from shooting open. My PF should be 133-140.

Id be careful with that, go too much and you could create a step(the mag body) that the follower has to jump over to feed. Basically the reveresing the issue. Ill take a mag that is finicky to load but feeds fine over the opposite of that any day.

No worries. I smoothed out the bottom of the mag to work with the TF basepads. So when I switched over, the actually worked a little better. I will probably replace the basepads after the season anyway.

I run a JP GMR-15 and I managed to break the JP firing pin after just 600 rounds.

I just sent an email to JP and I am sure that they will send me a new one.  They have always been super cool about stuff like this.

However, for a backup......I was thinking of trying the Wilson Combat bullet proof firing pin.

Does anyone know if that will work with a JP GMR-15 bolt?  Also, does the WIlson Combat pin live up to its "unbreakable" marketing hype?

    Many thanks!

I'm curious what is your load? I just got my GMR-15 and I running N320 (3.8grs) behind a 124gr MG JHP @ 1.13. I just trying to gauge what everyone is experiencing. When your firing broke, what symptoms did it give you? Thanks!!

It's personal preference. I have shot a 14.5" JP set up with a comp and a 16" JP set up with a SiCo Omega 9k for "standard length" guns. I've also practiced with a 10.5" SBR with a comp and with the Omega. I actually have long arms and get cramped feelings on hand guards when things get too short like a 5" barrel PCC a buddy has. As far as class, I'm an OK shooter. I suppose I am on the larger size so weight probably doesn't affect me as much but I am by no means close to "Vanilla Gorilla" status. I'm not improving my splits to the point that i'm picking up chicks with any of the "heavier" setups and I'm certainly not running faster  than some of the gazelles in fancy shirts with my 10.5" and comp setup. The only time I have found weight matters is first shots with children and extremely small framed shooters. To be honest, the 10.5" with the Omega is the best setup for that type of first timer because of the total lack of concussion from the shot. If you want I can put them on scales to get weight estimates but the point is this:

Practice and hard work with a gun that is utterly reliable is far more important than chasing the new, latest or greatest. As a new shooter buying the JP allows you to put 50,000 rounds down range with damn near any ammo and without wasting your time fixing things.

I just got mine on Monday and I love it. It is heavy but I'm a big guy, so I will up my workouts. It is flat shooting though. There is very little rise in this rifle. I'm using 6.6grs of HS-6 for my round and the sight lefts a little bit. I'm thinking about taking down my rounds down to 6.4grs. I wish I would have bought this rifle first instead of the MPX; which I will be selling ASAP.

  6. I got my base pads yesterday. I can only load 35 rounds in my 9mm 32 round mags. I think this more the function of the springs because they look extremely long. I could only get 39 in my Taylor Freelance extension, so 4 rounds is better than I thought. I am thinking I may need to shave down the back of the follower to ensure that it can slide easily down into the extension. I like the look and feel of them, so I will keep them.

  7. When my JP gets in I will be running 6.6grs of HS-6 behind a 124gr Montana Gold JHP. The PF is about 136-140 at 1.150. I shortened it by 1/100 to ensure good pressure.

Also be sure that you are not getting a light bullet strike on the comp.  Typically would not group at 10yrds either, but worth a quick look.

+1. Once you rule out the trigger man, this is a good place to start.

  9. I would go with a custom built platform. I am going to PCC exclusively from Open and I can tell you a spec built platform will do you justice. I have a MPX now but I have a JP GMR-15 on the way. I could piece together an open gun but it will never run as good as one built by a master gunsmith. Also, when you add up the cost for all the parts for testing you will be close if not over the cost of a custom spec carbine. In open we say buy once cry once; it is the same in PCC. When I get my JP, I will be ordering another one as my backup. So I will be crying twice...lol.

Hello: Wow that is a fast load for the MPX. Is it a dirty load? I am using 3.8 grains of Tite Group with 124's. Thanks, Eric

Surprisingly, it is not that dirty. I think my chrono was off when i tested. i don't think it is nowhere that fast. I'm think it should be in mid to high 1300's for a PF around 140. I'm using small rifle primers so that might be adding that little extra kick. I like the load. I have a GMR-15 on order, so I hope I do not have to change this round.
